So since this says START OF THE GAME do i have play this first to get its effect or does it trigger at the START OF GAME?
REAL QUESTION here.
it start of the game means it will work at the start of the game before you play any card like prince malchazaar.
But the real question is it requires your deck to have no even cost cards tho this card's cost is even so in order to make it work do you have to draw it at your opening hand ?
Since when is 9 an even number?
shit I thought it is even cuz it can be divided to three lol.
Wtf is this? 3 isn't an even number either.....
I was gonna say the purposely made Genn even mana cost vs this whos odd lol
Not really CW having to cut execute. and dead mans hand for it.
If they print another high value card, we dont need dead man hand. And they will, because it is pointless to give us back justicar hero power without any high value control card.
Execute will be miss, but CW never lack removals. When running Geist , ppl cut both shielslam and they still doing ok.
Guys, Dead Man's Hand is not actually essential in control warrior. It's just the only way the deck can get enough value to compete with the insanely potent value cards of this meta. Execute can also be removed if there's enough removal in this expansion.
That guy has a point. This card Baku resembles the Philippine mythology dragon: Bakunawa the moon eating dragon. You can look for it on google. It's very cool actually. In Asia mythology, most dragons don't have wings but are serpentine. In other words, Asia's dragons are different from Western's
I suppose you need to see this as reading; 'if your deck has no 2 cost, 4 cost 6 cost or 8 cost cards', which makes Keleseth look like a lazy Susan by comparison! That being said, with an upgraded hero power you can fill in your curve a blitz (at least on turn 2) so the drawback is somewhat mitigated; although not as much as with Genn.
In addition this has the drawback of putting a weak vanilla minion into your deck that you don't want to draw
Although more restrictive than Keleseth, this has the huge advantage of always being active and not requiring a draw, so we will need to see.
Able to tankup from turn 2 everygame is huge for CW. I dont see how a common aggro deck break through this wall..they have to expand fast, only fall in brawl, or reckless flurry, or god know mass aoe CW receive this expansion. Vs control, the game will be slow and CW easily amass about 15-20 armor when the game begin to heat up and can wait for his right control value card to come in play, which we dont know what team5 have instore for us yet. Execute can be replace with a gorehowl or new removal warrior have this expansion. Guldan hero power now useless vs us, that deck even lose Nzoth. The only way Controlock can win is through Darkpact his own Rin, thats will not true anymore if we have a sort of surewin condition this time.
Turn 9 is not when I want to be upgrading my Hero Power.
Also, I wonder how this will work when your Hero Power is already upgrade via the Deathknight. Justicar's text read "replace your starting Hero Power" so it was clear how it worked. Although it was confirmed that this card works like Justicar, the text is different and I'd like some clarification
For now, voted unplayable, but cool and I'll play around with it.
upgrades your hero power at the start of the game, then you have this garbage pile of stats in your deck.
also didn't notice the beast tag, it might just be a little bit better cause of that in hunter, but still you will probably would prefer not drawing this card, ever.
Any kind of control deck I think would hurt way too much from the loss of even cards.. but a hyper aggressive hunter deck with only 1 and 3 drops could work.. throw in leeroy.. it depends on the rest of the meta.. but a deck without healing is going to have a hard time dealing with that 3 damage a turn
.........you're suggesting adding a 9-drop to an aggro deck?
I love the idea of this is Control Warrior, not convinced about it anywhere else. Lone Champion just got a lot better anyway since you'll never have a 2-drop minion out. Mass armour Warrior inc? Last expansion certainly built towards it, this might even make Reckless Flurry more relevant since you generate the armour so easily.
after thinking it over, Like i mentioned CW has plenty of Odd cards that are good. Plus i think Tanking up on turn 2 seems pretty good. Not to mention Reckless Flurry is 3 mana so.
i like passive effect idea but the drawback seems really big here.Back in the day Justicar still in standard, she also isn't pupolar outside warrior and priest (and some paladin) so i wont overrated the upgraded hero power ,esspecially when we still have DK with better hero power

While I mostly agree that Control Warrior will have a boost from Baku, I think assuming it won't find a home elsewhere is a thinking too anchored in how Justicar Trueheart was played. The difference between having access to the upgraded hero power on turn 2 vs turn 7 is a major shift that could mean other classes (whose upgraded hero powers weren't as good in the mid to late game as "Tank Up") will find a way to make this valuable.
Trump posted a video with a few ideas including Face Hunter and Control Mage based just on cards that currently exist and will remain in standard after rotation. Obviously not having a full picture of what's in this upcoming set is going to make it hard to judge Baku, but I think it's probably fair to expect that Baku will find a home in multiple classes (even if it's only played as a meme version of a meta deck, etc.).

Do or do not. There is no try.

I'm sure there is a Hunter deck that would love 3 damage for 2 mana from turn 1
Fiery War Axe buff kappa :^)
Not true, paladin and mage have a problem with odd only, but warrior, hunter dont mind odd costs at all.
As far as "basic/class" cards go anyway, they may well print cards of particular costs in the next set or the one after to give you some elbowroom.
You usually find that with imposed deck limitations that you can build around it and the advantage is worth any card options you have to leave out.

I tried having fun once. It was awful.
Seems ok.

Sounds strange for first time. But maybe we can forge a deck and get use to it.
I am wilo.
