The return on investment is incredibly low, and made lower by poor crafting decisions when the new set launches. Last spring, I met a fellow at a Fireside Gathering in Toronto - he had recently dusted 18 Legendaries in his collection which had just rotated into Wild. It was enough dust to craft four new Legendaries, and a couple epics from Un'Goro. Unfortunately, three of the four Legendaries he chose to craft were The Marsh Queen, Lakkari Sacrifice and Clutchmother Zavas. He had effectively dusted 18 Legendaries in order to craft Elise the Trailblazer and a pair of Primordial Glyph. By the end of Un'Goro, he had lost interest in the game, mostly due to his own poor management of his card collection.
I'll dust some golden cards, and maybe some garbage epics if I get desperate.
Dusting ALL cards is a bad idea, rares and commons give too little in return, and the rotated cards can prove useful in Wild, adventures and many tavern brawls.
Who knows? Maybe your favourite class disappear from standard, or the meta there becomes inbearable so will regret dusting your cards. Remember those packs can never again be bought with ingame gold...
I will not dust any cards anymore. Except for dupes ofc.... When i started playing HS i dusted all cards that went to wild when the rotation hit (not many but still regret it). But now i recently started playing ranked wild and i am having alot of fun. I have even crafted some wild cards and will try to expand my wild collection.

I dust all of the obvious pack fillers and cards that are simply outclassed by the newer expansions with no regrets. Starting with the Year of the Kraken expansions, I'll probably start keeping select cards for wild. For all the previous cards I dusted, I already made up my mind that if I ever want them again, I'd want them in golden anyway like Reno or Emperor. So far I haven't really cared to remake them. With wild getting a lot bigger this year, I just might.
For me I dust all the bad cards that I never played with. I will keep any cards that have some strange effect that might be fun to mess around with some day. but all those cards that I have never used in wild or standard will get dusted once they move to wild but I keep all the good stuff as I usually play wild.

Farm to Rank 5 and play the paladin quest deck for the lolz
When the Standard/Wild split first happened, I disenchanted my Naxx cards. I then realized that was a huge mistake and never DEd a good wild card again.
Nope, have 96% of a full collection and would never look back. Haven't even bothered with standard in the past 4 expansions. The metas have been lame and the decks you play against are limited — not only in variety — but in functionality too. Lately Blizzard has been turning attention to Wild and adding support and events which is great. Wild is more fun to play and watch. I'm glad I didn't fall into the standard trap when it came out. I would have quit this game a while ago if I had.
Gotta dust all my Wild cards for 1/4th of their value! It's almost renewable!
The value of wilds cards for people not interested i wild is 0. So disenchant them is the right decision. I have disenchanted all the Wild&hof cards without any regret so far. Also, doing that allow me to get most of the relevant stuff of each xpac without spending any money.
It's not about whether or not you play Wild. The fact is you are trading solid cards for 1/4, 1/5 or 1/8 of their value (which many times you ended up paying fully). Whether or not you use something does not change the objective value it has. You do you man, but the value loss is still real.

Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished

At that point though, you're talking about sunk cost value though. Usually a "sunk cost" is something you just can't get anything back from. The fact that you can get 1/4 back on some of the things is actually not a bad deal. Especially if you're disenchanting "useless" or "low tier" cards. 400 dust on a mode that I will definitely play is a thousand times better than 0 dust and keeping cards in a mode I'll probably never play haha.
Keeping in mind I will probably keep some of the "good/viable" legendaries (in particular, the Jade package, and probably Medivh, among a couple others). I'm just trying to argue for the other side haha.

Yes because I will get 18k dust out of it. I don't put money in the game so I never have all the cards on the expensions anyway, so having to choose between new cards that I can craft with this dust or old cards that I'll probably never play, the choice is easy.
I would strongly recommend that players don’t dust their wild collection, given that the ratio are 1:8 for common, 1:5 for Rares, and 1:4 for epics. I do understand the concern that people want to keep up with standard, but it’s still not worth it.
One of the argument for playing standard is that there’s lesser cards in play, ergo it’s cheaper (and a fresh meta), but it’s always more costly to accumulate more new cards then keeping old ones. In that regard wild are actually the less expensive format over time, due to new cards being less impactful.
in the wild format, decks tends to rotate, depending on what the new expantions bring out. For instance right now demonlock and big priests are very popular along with secret mage and tempomage with flamewaker. Dude paladin also thrives along with secret paladin. My point is that in the wild format both very “standard” decks aren’t too far away from the power level of old wild decks. There are some broken synergies in the format, but time will tell if it’s ok or if it needs fixing...
Some of my friends dusted their wild collection back when wotog came out, and unfortunately they regretted it later...
From my point of view I just can’t find it in my heart to dust 4 hard earned legendary cards to craft one new one... even Mayor Noggenfogger and Icehowl are safe with me alongside dr. Boom and Eadric the pure.
I dusted everything when WOTOG came out cause I hated the secret paladin meta so much I thought that would just continue in wild and I never wanted to experience that again. I've recrafted a few cards right now and don't regret dusting much, except for Loatheb. I REALLY wish I never dusted Loatheb, it's still really good.
I dusted most of everything except some Legendary cards and Mechs. I don't play Wild unless it's late in the season and I want to rack up some wins for that Golden skin. I have most of the Golden skins now, I just want that Legendary card back. I can't get much higher than Rank 3 yet, hoping the new ladder will change that. I'll keep playing Standard and dusting the rotated cards to buy new ones. There is a huge stack of cards that are unplayable in general, so even the people who don't dust anything are wasting money. Come on, let go of that trash, nobodies ever going to play the dark fisherman, or Patches.

You seem to forget about solo adventures. The next time a lich king shows up I would not want to be without my Old Murk-Eye :)
Revisiting this a bit, I was thinking of disenchanting the new wild cards... I did not realize how few of those packs I bought in Gadgetzan and Old Gods haha. I wouldn't be able to get much dust at all anyways.
Also, never really saw the post just before this haha. You really put a lot of words in my mouth there. I'm not a f2p player at all any more and I couldn't care less what other people do. I was just curious was all =P. My poll answers I figured encapsulated all possible responses.
I could have had a "I disenchant most" or "I disenchant some" or "I disenchant very little" or "I disenchant almost all" or "no I hate everything" or "yes I also hate everything" or.... Well you see my point lol. I feel like range based polls are redundant, so I wanted to be more personal and colloquial.
Honestly at this point I'm not actually going to disenchant any just because you pretty much get nothing for disenchanting commons and rares, and that's pretty much all I have from those two expansions lol (I already disenchanted bad legendaries in Karazhan).
I suppose I could have also had an option that read "If I need dust for a card I really want, then I will disenchant wild cards". That is the only response I could have considered putting in. But whatever, too late now, everyone's thought about this already lol.
