Any card that pulls a minion from the deck should have the recruit mechanic implemented, and any battlecry, end of turn effect or Deathrattle card ability should be canceled, make it a vanilla creature and a 1:1. This would make every player who has a problem with this archetype happy!!!(end sarcasm)
Now that being said. If you are calling for a nerf to barnes then I have to agree with Lightspoon, nerf the mechanic not the card. Copying minions from a deck should be removed and indeed make it a recruit effect, the ability on the card can stay, Barnes already makes the minion a 1:1 so no need to go further, and put the recruit effect on Shadow Essence putting it on par. The rest of the cards that put creatures into play are either later in the game or are already a recruit style mechanic.
The biggest complaint I see in the tremendous amount of threads with this issue is Big priest, the issue with Priest and its use of these cards is the ability to use resurrect mechanics, that is a whole new issue but one that is a class niche. Spiteful decks are a different monster altogether, as it creates a creature, it doesn't copy/recruit them so don't mix the two up.
It is a unique part of the game with the decks that followed the release of these cards, but I still don't see them sculpting the meta as other decks have in the past, they have just made the meta more annoying to many.
with that nerf you prupose you dont only kill barnes but you kill the whole Big priest archtype.
i dont think it need a nerf. But if you nerf it then just make it a recruit a minion instead of summon a 1/1 copy And change yshaar in at begin of you turn instead end of the turn. So you dont have the Barnes that pulls yshaar and the yshaar puls the yshaar
I think something should be done, thought I'm not sure this is the solution. Blizzard needs to consider how this card affects wild, too.
I'm not a wild player aside from some odd matches for fun here and there on ladder to help add to my win count for golden heroes, but it doesn't deserve the dumpster status it's given. Wild shouldn't end up the dumping grounds for Blizzard.

Barnes is considered a good card. What happens when Barnes gets nerfed? Something not so good takes its place. Then we have a new good card. You want that nerfed too? Seriously, this is a card game. Some RNG is allowed, and it is okay to have good or bad cards, just like there are probably good or bad weapons in WoW (pre Legion). Seriously though stop crying because something is good, post when something is oppressive and dominating multiple archetypes/classes.
this. I don't consider Barnes a DOMINATE card that is the main factor for certain decks. He is a card that is meta but not oppressive.
As for the opinions on Barnes in Wild, if I'm not mistaken, never has there been a nerf on a card in Wild (when it's located in Wild).
He's definitely a strong card that is easy to abuse via proper deck construction. I don't know that I agree he needs a nerf but it certainly is something that should be looked as a problem for "design space" in priest, especially. The resurrect ability is just out of control for priest and an on-curve Barnes is usually a death sentence. In wild it is so much worse....
This I can agree with. I feel as the only 2 nerfs I would approve are as followed:
I bet that people with such good ideas have solutions to the world hunger and North Korea crisis too but instead of taking actions all they can do is post entitled demands on computer game forums.
If we can't discuss about the cards and the game in a HearthStone forum what we do here? Candy recipes?
Why not change it to, 'At the start of your next turn' rather than a Battlecry and buff the stats accordingly? That way you can at least try to counter it.
How about changing the effect to "Recruit a minion from your deck, change its stats to 1/1". It would pull a minion and turn it into a 1/1 rather than making a copy, severely reducing the amazing value of related decks. High rolls happen and if it's not Barnes, it will be something else, the nerf - if any - should be more subtle than making it a terribly weak card.
It would no longer pull out a 1/1 that pulls a 10/10 copy of itself. That bit is idiotic. If Y'Shaarj could never summon Y'Shaarj due to being pulled out of the deck - Barnes would be fine.
I don't know... in priest:: Banes -> Y'Shaarj -> Obsidian/LichKing/Ysera is also broken imo...
You have to build a specific deck to get the drop, and even if you've built that crap you need to draw a single card of 30, if you manage to do that you should reap the rewards. #dontmurderbarns
the problem is that it feels sooooo bad when it happens to you and your opponent does get that combo on 4... and you just concede...
he won't get that lucky for next n games... but it just leaves sour taste in mouth... :/
Now, I know its a bit late to nerf Barnes because he's rotating out. However, as we've seen, Blizzard doesn't care how long the card goes untouched for. They just recently nerfed Patches even though he's rotating out in about a month. So why is Barnes still untouched?
This is because Patches the Pirate was used in a lot of different types of decks. Barnes isn't used in a lot of archetypes.
Sure, Barnes can be very powerful when summoning the right card, but it's random. And we all hate RNG sometimes. I had my fair share of 1/1 Flamewreathed Faceless which is useless for me on turn 4
How about mana Increase on Barnes? Cheating a minion early still can happend using Shadow Essence but nobody complain about this card, so I think the problem is that Barnes can cheat a minion on turn 4 is the problem.
Why not making Barnes cost maybe 6 or 7 and change the stat to balance it out, maybe a 5/5 if cost 6 and 6/6 if cost 7?

Cute, ineffective, but cute.

Change the card text to "Summon a 1/1 actor which copies the text of a minion in your deck"
Can't res full life minions
The problem isn't Barnes anymore, given he's rotating out (for standard, at least.)
The problem is what other Barnes-like cards are looming. I already fear the recruit mechanic getting out of hand. What fresh hell awaits?
Haven't really seen Barnes Hunter in wild, probably because it would be outclassed there.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
Here's an idea. Make Barnes not legend anymore so we can put 3 copies of him.
This increases the likelihood that Barnes will pull another Barnes. :-D
Bad players whine.
Good players adapt.

summon a 1/1 sheep
Question everything.
Barnes is rotating in like a month, it doesn't need to be nerfed. Moving on.

Barnes can't be nerfed as long as Naga Sea Witch don't get nerfed alongside with it. Naga Sea Witch is a much bigger problem than Barnes right now.
