DKs are strong as fuck! I play Rexxar in my deathrattle deck and Jaina in my big spell reno deck (both homegrown and in wild). I won many matches because of this two cards. The winrate of both decks is around 70%.
In this month I playing only Standard, what I said is for Standard only, I don't know the situation of DK's in Wild.
Damn, this post is a dumpster fire. His point has been countered multiple times by multiple people and yet he insists he's right. None of the DKs "failed miserably", they all saw play at one point or another. When comparing them to the quests where most of them were shitty, I'd say the DKs have been pretty successful. This thread should just be closed at this point.
Well, a lot of deny or not solid points but what I said is absolutely confirmed, days and days of playing and I don't see any other DK than warlock...
While the Warlock DK is the only one currently dominating the meta, it doesn't mean the mechanic failed as a whole. Unlike Quests, which are pretty much useless right now, Death Knights are powerful cards that are seen in lots of decks that CAN viably climb ladder, or otherwise have their own meaningful niche. Just because a mechanic isn't everywhere and isn't seen every other game doesn't mean it failed - in fact, if they're still powerful and useable (like DKs are), that's probably a sign that they're well designed.

1- You are not right just because you do not see others ;)
2- And why are you not seeing the Druid DK?
3- The DK’s are still in Standard 12 more months. And there is still time. They will forever stay in Wild.
1- Are you telling me you (or anyone else) see a lot of variety of decks and all or almost all DK's being used? That is it?
2- Because I not seeing druid at all, I only see paladins, priests, mages and warlocks, sometimes, a hunter, that is it.
3- Maybe in the future the situation change but for now 8 of 9 DK's failed, or the classes are out of the meta or don't use the DK's, except warlock of course.
I normally play somewhere between rank 5 and legend. I saw this post and chuckled when looking at my last 8 games. I play Control priest with Anduin ( Fairly standard top tier 2 deck ).

It was easily strongest Dk during raza period still strong but you cannot build a deck around it anymore it will see play in any control priest but there is no viable control priest archetype in meta
People focuses on utilizing hero power I think it should be 8 mana cost instead of 9 but current paladin decks cannot use this card this is why you don't see this card in play right now.
This is most complicated dk at Kings bane deck I saw its real potential and I lost many games because of this card it wins the games but hard to utilize.
The second worst dk it makes impact at the game when you play it but the problem is you need to play this card on curve while you have a board that condition is the reason why it looks weak also it is not much synergy wise.
Hero power is really bad and weakest dk 8 mana cost is too much for what it offers to the players I think if this would cost 6 it would be really good dk card because weapon is really good.
As you see they are not really bad they are actually very good compared to the quests.

9 in 9 quests don't make the cut and are out of the meta.
8 in 9 Dk's don't make the cut and are out of the meta.

1. I am telling you that you are not the only person on the ladder and not the only person who should see DK's on the ladder for them to be a succes. Have you not been following Hearthpwn for more than a year now? There are people all over the world who experience weird things happening for much more than 300 games in a row and that is just what happens when you have 70 million people playing the game. Statistics man!
2. I have no idea why you haven't seen any Druids since Knights of the Frozen Throne came out. They have been all over the ladder with both Aggro/Token Druid and with Jade Druid.
3. You are an idiot if you think cards should always be super good. Let me teach you a lesson: Cards do not fail miserable just because they are not played at all points in time. Tell me you know this already, please? Cards should sometimes be worse than others on purpose because such is the nature of card games and all cards can't be equally good. They haven't failed miserable just because they are not played. And judging cards after just 7 months is truly stupid. First of all they have 12 more months left in Standard. Second they are still valid in Wild.

Those decks I mentioned above are really good decks and I faced with each of them on ladder but Paladin decks, warlock decks also spitefull Priest are broken so those decks are not that common on early ranks but after I reached rank 5 and in legend I started to saw them more often because more people have necessary cards to play this decks at high ranks.
If you want to know check the Hsreplay and see how many decks runs this dk cards.

1- Ok, I repeat the question again, how many games are needed to prove a point? If the games of one person don't prove anything, don't matter if is 3, 30, 300, 3.000 or 30.000 then post asking for comprovation for some point don't make sense.
2- After the nerfs in Patches and Creeper they vanishing, very, very rare you see a jade druid, aggro I don't see once after the nerfs, in hundreds of games.
3- Cards be better or worse than other are OK and don't make failure, Frost Bolt see more play than Firelands Portal, Ice Block see much more play than Ice Barrier, but when one DK (warlock) is played 100.000 times more than another DK, paladin for example, don't is fair say the second one is a failure?
I think it is reasonnable to consider any deck appearing in more than 2.5% of the meta to be "part of the meta", as you would expect to see 1 of each every 40 games.
In my experience, those numbers seem rather accurate, at least in EU region.
According to those stats, DKs that are represented in at least 2.5% of decks include :
- Warlock (19+%...)
- Priest (6+% with the rise of control priest)
- Hunter (4+%)
- Mage, Druid, Rogue (each 2.5+%)
So, 6/9 DKs are played in at least 1/40 deck. This is definitely not "failed miserably".
1- I am extremely unlucky, I don't see any other DK than warlock in hundreds of games.
2- WHAT??? Jade druid and spell hunter Tier 2? Spiteful priest Tier 3? WTF? I play vs Spiteful Priest 20 times or more for each time I play vs any hunter or druid deck, how this can be right?
Come on guys OP is trolling. He is screaming It labeling Anduin as a failure.
DKs have been the best designed and coolest cards on the last bunch of xpacs. I hope they keep releasing Hero cards.
I never said DK's don't are cool or well design cards, in my opinion they are the best design and cool cards ever made, when I said failure I mean how much play any of them see in the current meta.
You completely fact resistant and blatantly stupid, aren't you ? Here's 5 pages of people providing you with facts about the meta and the occurence of deathknights in different decks and all you say is 'Muuuh, i don't encounter other deathknights, they suck'.
"2- WHAT??? Jade druid and spell hunter Tier 2? Spiteful priest Tier 3? WTF? I play vs Spiteful Priest 20 times or more for each time I play vs any hunter or druid deck, how this can be right?"
There's a huge difference between the number of games YOU play and the hundreds of thousands games with different decks recorded by sites like HSReplays
Maybe, just go there for a moment and look at the numbers provided there. But you won't, i guess, because your'e one of these post - truth duderinos, who trusts his guts more than proven facts.

Ok, then it is only my bad luck don't play vs anything else than aggro paladin, warlock control, Spiteful priest and secret mage.
But that is weird, it is... :(
PS: Coincidence or not my 5 last games was dude paladin, I probably the most unlucky person in this world.

Just out of curiosity. Which legendaries from the last 3 expansions do you consider to not be failures?

Why Rogue is my favourite class:
My submission for this week's card design competition.
I normally play somewhere between rank 5 and legend. I saw this post and chuckled when looking at my last 8 games. I play Control priest with Anduin ( Fairly standard top tier 2 deck ).
8 of the last 10 games I played were against......
Evolve Shaman - Spell Hunter - Kingsbane Rogue - OTK Paladin - Jade Druid - Control Warlock - Fatigue Warrior - Big Spell Mage
I've literally seen every death knight in the last hour and a half.
Lets see
Shadowreaper Anduin
It was easily strongest Dk during raza period still strong but you cannot build a deck around it anymore it will see play in any control priest but there is no viable control priest archetype in meta
Bloodreaver Gul'dan
Right now the strongest dk there is no need for further argument
Malfurion the Pestilent
Most balanced dk card. it will never be broken but it is usefull and can be included many druid decks
Deathstalker Rexxar
Fun to play with the problem is Hunter decks cannot fully utilize this deck but it is really powerful.
Frost Lich Jaina
Strong dk as alone but it requires extra turns to utilize this card good at really heavy decks with the rotation of iceblock this will see more play.
Uther of the Ebon Blade
People focuses on utilizing hero power I think it should be 8 mana cost instead of 9 but current paladin decks cannot use this card this is why you don't see this card in play right now.
Valeera the Hollow
This is most complicated dk at Kings bane deck I saw its real potential and I lost many games because of this card it wins the games but hard to utilize.
Thrall, Deathseer
The second worst dk it makes impact at the game when you play it but the problem is you need to play this card on curve while you have a board that condition is the reason why it looks weak also it is not much synergy wise.
Scourgelord Garrosh
Hero power is really bad and weakest dk 8 mana cost is too much for what it offers to the players I think if this would cost 6 it would be really good dk card because weapon is really good.
As you see they are not really bad they are actually very good compared to the quests.
