I thought it was pretty much a River Crocolisk with a better chance of thinning your opponent's desk of something useless than destroying an all-important combo piece. It wasn't until my third straight loss against Kingsbane rogue that I realized it's a perfect counter to that deck; if you can hold on until the endgame where your opponent is cycling the same Kingsbane from their deck you'll be guaranteed to destroy the buffed weapon. Game pretty much over at that point.
It's really not so badly understatted to not be worth at least considering as a counter to those sorts of decks.
I would say, of any 1 card, that little bloodsucker has outright won me more games than any other. I know that sounds extreme, but I think it is a VERY underestimated card.
Yes, it is RNG (if it wasn't, it would be horribly busted), but in the current meta, so many decks rely on 1 or 2 cards. If you burn that card, the game is over. Burn Kingsbane .. game over. Pre-Nerf ... Burn Anduin. Archmage Antonidas, ... all these are essentially auto wins.
Speaking of Kingsbane ... if you hold one until the end of the game, you can sometimes catch and burn their buffed weapon while they are cycling it. Its happening less often now because good players are playing around it, but early on, I was able to break at lot of rogue hearts with it.
Even the ones that don't outright win you the game, can make a huge impact. Taking a Voidlord out in a mirror match, or a Mind Control can give you a huge advantage.
It's made even better that the body isn't horrible alone, so it isn't as punishing to tech it in.

Yeah, but then THEY have to rely on luck to draw the right one.
OR you can be like me and put it in every control/combo warlock deck.
