If player A has an Explosive Runes in play and player B plays a minion with Divine Shield, shouldn´t the minion absorb ALL the damage, not just as much as the health can cover? The wording on divine Shield is, if I´m not mistaken, "absorb ALL the damage that would be done to this minion". That should include damage from a secret.
Actually, Divine Shield ignores damage, not absorbs. So it takes no damage and passes it on to you in the case of Explosive Runes. In the case of a LifeSteal KingsBane, it stops the KingsBane user from gaining any health because no damage was dealt. So big Taunts with Divine Shield work well against a KingsBane deck, but really suck against a secret mage.
I took 4 from it when i played Wickerflame Burnbristle in a match just before I posted this. So it´s not that either Kylea_bos. It should be either nothing or all of it.

It does absorb all the damage. If you a play a 4 health minion explosive rune does 4 damage to it. Why would a 4 health minion with divine shield take 6 damage?
Sorry, had that wrong, was just checking the wiki, and it says this for Explosive Runes. "If this Secret triggers on a Divine Shield minion, it will pop the Divine Shield and absorb damage equal to the minions health. Any leftover damage is then dealt to the enemy hero."
So it is working as designed, although it does block Life Steal completely.
Definitely working as intended if they designed the card in a way to also deal damage to the hero. Divine shield stops damage on the minion, not the hero.
But it should deal enough damage to kill the minion, and since it has divine shield it can´t die from a single burst of damage and therefore it should take all 6. Just like lifesteal dosen´t work if the minion has divine shield. There are no excess of damage since the minion can absorb all the damage.
If anyone wants to try to search around and find it, there is a post in Reddit, that was linked here in another thread on this topic a while back, that basically said the way it works is "incorrect" from the standpoint of how it "should" work, but it was working as they intended the card to work. It gives the full technical babble of how and why it works as it does.

This might be working as intended, but seriously only because either their programmers are lazy, card text writers messed up, or card designers didn’t consider all situations. Card text on explosive runes should be worded differently if they want it to do health damage to the minion summoned and any remaining to the hero. Come on Blizzard...get yer s**t together.
It's nonsense that it allows damage to pass on to the hero after hitting a divine shield. The whole point of divine shield is it doesn't matter how much your minionis hit for - 1, 10, or 100. It has no effect.
This would be one way to limit the power of this card. A sensible way.
Of course, that means Blizzard did something else.

It probably should, but I'm damn glad it doesn't.
Yes it should but it won’t be changed for now. Maybe in a future patch.
