When a Scavenging Hyena and one or more other beasts are in play, the Defile effect may trigger one time too often.[1] The reason for this is at this time not known.
Yes, that is how it would work. I've seen in the past some strange issues with Hyena in particular, but I assume they have been solved by now, so it would indeed survive as you wrote.
Ohh wow I was wondering why they nerfed that. Makes sense now since it would be an infinite loop.
They claimed it would be an infinite loop, but in reality there is a soft cap that shuts down loops so that they can't be infinite. I once tried a Grim Patron OTK with Knife Juggler, Patron, and Defile, but after so many procs the loop just randomly stopped casting after a while (despite there still being a 1, 2, and 3 health chain on board. Same thing would happen with Dreadsteed.
So really the card was mostly nerfed for no legitimate reason.

As far as I know it still triggers more than 20 times. That would make defile+Dreadsteed a 6 mana boardclear that deals +20 dmg to all minions that also kills deathrattle minions. So yea the nerf makes sense.
But yeah, despite the soft cap Dreadsteed + Defile would be an OP combo, much, much better than equality + consecration*. a) because you can clear minions with deathrattle and divine shield. b) you have stuff on the board. The only time where equality would be better, that would be in the rare cases, when the opponent (divine favor priest) brings a minion to the table with a lot of health. So as much I as love dreadsteed combos, his nerf really made a lot of sense.

That would be a great combo, not only would you get a board of dreadsteeds, but you would probably disconnect your anyone playing on mobile. So you could win some games that way haha. I used to lose game occasionally when I would play patron on my phone or with a less than stellar connection
Quick question: Do deathrattle/other "when something dies" trigger happen between multiple defile casts or afterwards?
quick example:
Board: Scavenging Hyena + Kindly Grandmother
Play: Defile
From my understanding, the first Defile would kill the Kindly Grandmother, Scavenging Hyena would get +2/+1 and Big Bad Wolf would enter play before Defile is cast again. Resulting in a 4/1 Scavenging Hyena and a 3/1 Big Bad Wolf.
Is this the correct interaction? I'm always used to Magic trigger handling, where this would happen slightly different :D
Normally you are right, but the wiki says
