Nope, I think it just counted the -1 towards the damage.
Like, it deals damage to kill a minion, up to six, but because boar was already at -1, it counted that towards the carry-over damage, so it took (-1-6)*-1=7
Explosive rune is badly coded. If you play divine shield minion into it you take damage equal to damage - minions hp, while logical thing would be for divine shield to soak entire damage.

Well, the way it's worded, it's supposed to work that way imo - Divine Shield blocks damage, minion ignores it, and everything is "excess" and hits face...

Not shown: Damage indicators. Explosive Runes "killed" the boar after it was damaged for 2 and then dealt 7 to me.
