People seem to overlook that this could be used against a mill deck just as well as it could be used with a mill deck.
No, it can't be used in a mill deck, except you want to create a bad mill deck, then yes, if you want that your opponent have a higher winrate, then run the darkness.
It seems a lot of people here are forgetting about the Block of Ice from the Sindragosa boss fight. A non-played The Darkness is basically just that, unless you play another afterwards (or beforehand, if your opponent hasn't drawn a candle yet).
"You may be wondering, "How do I get rid of these ice blocks?". The answer is: You can't!"
This card makes Razakus Priest basically a draw race; get Raza out before The Darkness comes and you should be okay. Wouldn't be surprised if they tech in a Dirty Rat of their own to try and counter the counter.

To be fair though, with all the Recruitable cards this expansion, you really don't want to be playing Dirty Rat.
If I remember correctly it is possible to mill Ambush's and the Iron Juggernaut bomb. If this card is the exception to that rule it may see play, but even then I doubt it. If you are making them draw to get to the candles then they're likely going to have an answer for the Darkness. If you are playing this in a slow grindy game there is no way that your opponent won't save some removal for it, in which case it's the same as any other big late game and in that case I would rather run the lich king to get the card/
The best part of this card is simply that it exists. Skulking Geist didn't need to be run in every deck to have an effect on the meta.
If the meta started to skew heavily into razakus priest then people start to run Kobold Monk and The Darkness to have an edge. Just like geist a good tech card doesn't just shut down its target deck, it just gives you an edge.
And as has been mentioned this is also good against any deck that draws quickly through its deck. So going forward for the next 2 years any deck that wants to blitz through its deck has to consider this card and how to deal with it.
Yes you can hold removal for this card but that means you are not using your removal on other threats along the way which often means you will just die to their other stuff hitting you in the face.
The sheer amount of ignorance around mill decks is really evident here. You don't want to give more cards to your opponent, even if they draw more cards. When you are milling the opponent, if they mill this card, you just added an extra card to their deck and wasted a potentially game-winning mill. Not to mention that you can NEVER flip The Darkness from now on. You don't care about minion power, only utility. Mill rogue does not win through minion damage or presence unless it played multiple Nzoth's. Ever. The only minions mill cares about: have taunt, can heal, are Coldlight Oracle, combo with Coldlight Oracle, or combo with the taunts. If a minion can't do one of these things, it is not worth being played.
"Cast this when drawn" says the candle. Like ambushes, the effect happens before the card reaches hand, therefore you cant mill it. Someone pleace confirm my opinion?
No, because you don't draw a card if you have 10 cards in your hand. You discard the card.
Perfect example is the card you already mentioned yourself: when you discard the ambush because you have 10 cards in your hand, the ambush does NOTHING. Another card is ancient curse: if you discard the curse, you don't get damaged yourself.
That includes the card-draw of the card, so if you mill a candle, the enemy simply get milled for nothing and The Darkness doesn't get activated.
Don't see how this is a "counter" to Razakus. Yeah it slows them down, but they still draw a card when they draw a candle, and have ways to kill a large minion.

Because it warps the way they have to play and forces the focus of the deck away from drawing as fast as possible and cheaply combo bursting you down in a few turns, Razakus will still see play but the builds will be much different than what we know today.
They will be slower and have more minions, the raza combo will just be a piece of the puzzle instead of a build around win condition

As long as there are 2 candles in their deck, the minions that require having 1 minion in their deck doesn't activate.
It's a counter, but a pretty bad one; people might try him, but in the end against many decks it's a 4 mana 0/0, and the tempo of this card is non-existent.
I have one question, What if The darkness is recruited?
As said a dozent times before (sorry, but this question was already answered multiple times), it stays dormant and you get a 0/0 on the field without any way to activate it. Also you lose a minion-slot.
A tech card to counter "miracle" deck, why not. When your opponent draw the 3rd candle, does it awake the minion right away? Or at the start of your turn?
This might be useful AGAINST mill decks but shouldn't be run IN a mill deck
and we thought 4/7/7 was a joke
I don't see the Play w Mill Rogue adding more cards to your oppenent decks draw you closer to fatigue

can rogue shadow step this?

opponement of kripp plays it!
next turn kripp draws all candles!

I appreciate the nerf to Machine Gun Priest, although I wish that there was a way to remove The Darkness (great name BTW) before it became active.
You know shit's bad when you miss Midrange Shaman.
