I want to be somewhat hesitant that the designers would make something absolutely horrible (think the initial reaction to Purify, but then it did see some use), but I'm not super optimistic about this. Having two animal companions does reduce the variability and does always have some synergy, but for 6 mana, it doesn't seem good enough to build a deck around.
The thing is, 2 animal companions for 6 is actually decent the question is, is there enough support to justify a deck that doesnt run minions in this set? Im pretty curious about the remaining hunter cards ill keep rating this card until we know all hunter cards.
If the card didn't have a condition, and simply summoned a random pair of ACs for 6-mana it would be fine, though I suspect the effect would be too random to replace Savannah Highmane in MR Hunter, particularly given the deathrattle synergies which the deck often relies upon. As it stands, To My Side! isn't even a meme card - on average, you get about 7-mana of ACs for 6-mana, but had to gut your entire deck in order to gain 1-mana of tempo. In the past, "make your deck crazy" cards have had game-changing effects - the only one which has never really seen play is the 3/3 Prince from KFT. To My Side! could have been a 6-mana Call of the Wild with the condition, and the card still wouldn't see any competitive play, but at least the meme deck would have a pay-off.
My guess is that the new weapon is whenever you cast a spell cast it again. Therefore, if you meet the condition on this card with new weapon, you'll get 4 companions.
Even if that was true, would you base your whole deck around that weapon in such an extreme way? If you don't draw the weapon, you're simply stuck with a rubbish deck.
Hunter without minions is not impossible, though this effect is not enough incentive to try it, regardless of the mana cost of this card. But this should have cost 4 or 5, since this effect is worth exactly 6 mana without the drawback.
In short, stupid card on more than just one level. However, it takes one more hunter card with the same requirement that makes up for de condition in a bigger way to change that.
Seriously, how on earth are you supposed to play this?! If I unpack one I will definitely play around with it, but I will be amazed if anyone manages to fit it in a viable deck.
I'm really sorry for the hunter out there. Getting weak and expensive cards, which will never see play.
There was ONCE a spell centered deck. called Yogg and Load, but a) it was more of a fun deck and b) it relied on Yogg Saron to entertain with his fireworks. Now that card is nerfed, hunter hs the DK, but it can't really carry the deck on its own. Even if it did, I don't think, that this card is worth it. Just too expensive.

Im guessing if it was 6 mana summon 2 companion and if requirement met summon 3 it be a bit to strong
, but if it was 7 mana summon 2 companion and if requirement met summon 3 would it see play.....seems okey/decent??
Bad , just bad ....
Well, I attempted to make a deck with no minions for Hunter. I'm kind of curious to see how it would turn out playing it.

This can't be right... it is horrible... I don't get it... especially the epic tag.

Hey Blizzard, I noticed that you made a few typos in this card. Let me fix it for you.
"Summon 2 Animal Companions, or 3 if your deck has no minions".
What a shame...useless card ever
Summon 2 animal companion, or 3 if your deck has no minions.
The worst card of the set for sure, easy 100 dust
So unoriginal and lacks creativity
To the dumpster!
Release the Kraken!
It's very good this is an epic card.
Less chance to get it from packs.

Hahahahahahaha.

if call of the wild and animal companion had a kid...
