Keep in mind this weapons is still really good if you only have like deadly poised and it’s 1 cost meaning it’s a very good for combos and it’s relevant on early game and late game (unless it’s literarily the last card in you deck or top decks war but that rarely happens unless your playing tempo)
It's unplayable in decks without heavy draw, on average you will redraw this weapon again only when you have something like 5-7 cards left in your deck, at this point the game is already over.
In decks with tons of draw like mill and miracle this weapon doesn't really contribute to your win condition.
The only deck that could use it successfully is Oil rogue in wild, but it lost tons of power with the blade flurry nerf.
I think people need to calm down. How is this card as meta defining and good as psychic scream? I know we're desperately wanting one if these weapons to be good but c'mon.
In Standart is meh really, maybe a deck with Deadly Poison, Squidface and Naga Corsair with all the the other pirate package and even a couple saps, and silence minions is decent enough to be like tier 3/4 making it so you burst high amount of damage with the weapon and try to get outta hand with the pirate synergies but in wild this weapon actually seems pretty strong for oil rogue, 1 mana is great to combo with it and then just hit face without many regrets, this makes it so Deadly poison comes back to the decks as it has been cut on most of the recent decks. Not an amazing weapon to just put in every rogue deck but with the right support it could be very good and very very strong on wild.
How do folks think this is a good card? Its a slow 1 drop! Even if you get it in your opening hand AND a weapon buff, THEN it get cycled back into your deck. So that like 5-15-15-20 draws later. All the time you are going to have weapon buff cards in your hand? Then if it does come out again a little stronger and gets used up, it get cycled back into your deck. Really you need to play this 3 times at least... all the while your opponent is spending their mana on building a board full of synergies and taunts and you have just lost. Cool concept but total dust.
It shuffles into your deck, so make your top decks worst when you don't buffed it yet. Because of that, I don't know in what kind of deck that would see play.
I think this is a very good designed card, which rogues needed (it has class identity and a lot of potential to be a powerful, meta-defining card), like the devs promised "cool and powerful weapons". I think this should have been implemented earlier to compensate for the Blade Flurry nerf.
But I agree with MrQwerty64. This requires you to dilute your deck with "worthless" spells and I purposely call them like that, because if you don't draw your weapon on time, you have to stick to the other buff spells for your basic 1/2 daggers, which you included just to make that weapon better. I'm not that experienced, but I don't think, that decks whose strategy relies on one card, are solid. Even so, when the last charge expires, you start fishing for that weapon again. And I think rogues needs a bit more utilization with the weapons to justify their usage - because if the only thing you can do with them is to punch things, you only do that once a turn and against a flooded board you let your opponent snowball you. Speaking of punching things with your face - yeah, heals aren't present. Mistress of Mixtures will leave in about 4 months, Violet Illusionist - again, cards all around 1 specific card, the only remaining pseudo heal are the lifesteal minions.
So yeah, I agree with you, MrQwerty, I think you are right to point out this major flaw we are missing.
Nevertheless I got excited when I saw a good weapon for rogues. It's not everyday you also see a well designed, healthy card. This is why I'm marking this as "Very good", but the rest - well, you said it.
I also think this will see almost no play after initial week. Easy to get hyped "wow unlimited poisonous lifesteal weapon!" but i'm almost sure it will be not that great. Maybe with pirates it might work okay, but i for sure don't want to put many current weapon buffs into my deck. In order for this to be great, they need unnerf blade flurry.
I expected a card like this. Hopefully it helps to have some fun with the cards we got in previous sets.
Very interesting card. I wonder if just running it with one or two Deadly Poisons is good in like miracle. The poisons combo with the auctioneer and a 1 mana weapon activates other combos. Also wonder how it works with Rummaging Kobold and Doomerang.
I think the only spell worth running with this is deadly poison. Even with the stars aligning, i don't see myself playing envenom when vilespine exists, even sap. I don't think the lifesteal enchant is good either. So unless you're planning on running minions that buff your weapon and are good on their own when you cannot find this weapon, this card is going to drag your win rate down and it still might do that if you are smashing your face into minions cuz envenom.
I said rogue needs more ways to utilize weapons. But I think they should be minions - draw a weapon, buffing the Attack, ???. Blade Flurry should be reprinted, this is the link between rogue's weapons and game winning strategies ( I'm not calling for the unnerfed version, but just a cheaper AoE clear).
