If you compare Val'anyr to Explorer's Hat...... The hat gives deathrattle. This card does not. I actually wonder if silencing the minion does anything. That's probably asking too much because then the card would certainly be broken haha.

Even if it can be silenced off - which I suspect it can be - it's hardly an attack on the weapon. We've had two Paladin cards this expansion where the common comment is "lol silence", and well between that and Spikeridged Steed and other potential buffs... how many silences are you running in your deck? The more targets you give somebody to silence the better chance individual buffs have of surviiving.
my question is, does this trigger as a death rattle on the minion you buff? from the card text it doesnt seem like it.
Likely it does trigger as a deathrattle on the minion. Look at the wording on Spikeridged Steed as an example. It says "when it dies" but the buff on the minion from that card appears as a deathrattle. So Val'anyr should work the same way.
Incredibly slow, incredible value. Probably not quite playable though
But is it really that slow? I mean, you still deal 4 damage when you play this, it's only 2 mana more than a truesilver, but next turn you deal 4 more and you can play the minion that got the +4+2 for 0 mana... Yes sure it's a bit slow, but not slow as it seems.
It's certainly helpful that you don't have to equip it manually every time, but it's a big investment for an effect that's just going to get polymorph'd away
Well the point is that anything that paladin has from turn 6 requires a silence or a morph. This, Tirion, Steed, Bonemare, The other legendary... I don't know if you can silence all those stuffs
Hm. Just had a thought. Weapon gets destroyed and you buff a cheap minion....then use Spiritsinger Umbra to guarantee the re-equip?
edit: card hasn't been played in so long I forgot what it was called.
edit2: Wait, the card doesn't say, "Deathrattle: Give a minion +4/+2 and deathrattle: reequip this weapon." It says, "....and when it dies, re-equip this." So I guess you probably can silence the buff but not the re-equip, and it wouldn't trigger with Umbra. Right?

Except you will waste your turn 6 playing a 4-2 weapon, and get destroyed by your opponent's Bonemare before your buffed minion can even attack.
People talking about this being weak to silence need to reevaluate their ability to read.
You can't, I repeat, you can't silence a fucking weapon. It doesn't transfer the deathrattle to a minion, the weapon itself has deathrattle, just like Blood Razor.
Yes you can destroy it with oozes or Harrison, but it will just keep coming back. So most likely, no other weapon can replace it after you play it.
The irony here is incredible.
You silence the minion that gets hit by the +4/+2, that stops the weapon coming back to your hand. Not saying silence is a great counter (because Paladin has so many things to silence) but yes silence would work against a weapon.
do you know this or are you assuming? If you are right it would certainly make more sense if it said: give a minion 4/2 and deathrattle reequip Val´anyr. but it quite clearly doesnt say that. Since it doesnt say that, it seems like they are trying to tell us that the weapon is equipped regardless of wether or not the minion has been silenced. as if it was the dead weapon that has the inherent trigger, and not the minion it self. They could certainly have worded the card better if youre right, but i dont think you are.

maybe it's a stupid question, but how does the buff from this weapon interact with Spiritsinger Umbra? I mean, I assume that the buff is a deathrattle, but would it trigger when the buffed minion is played with Spiritsinger Umbra on the board?
I like the card but seems too slow though.. we will see.. maybe you even cut tirion for this (anti synergy since it destroys ashbringer) must have in hand buff paladin (MAYBE finally viable?)
imagine this on dopplegangster or saronite chain gang spreading this to your whole hand!

oh youre right. didnt notice that. seems to me they could have made both effects, and the weapon especially alot clearer with a better wording. like give a minion +2/6 and deathrattle summon (..)
Maybe this will change with the rotation next year, but I think this card will ultimately face the same problem cards like The Mistcaller faced. Is the loss in tempo too large to overcome, once this thing really gets rolling and how quickly will the buffed minion be played? That minion might not be the best play, you might be faced with a tougher decision due to the tempo loss. With that said, Vinecleaver did see some play during the Un'goro meta so I think there is still some hope for this card .
I think out of all the weapons so far this one is going to require the most play testing to determine if it's good. Honestly, if this costed 5 mana instead of 6 I'd be willing to say it's really good. At 6 mana it's not so clear.
This is a good no doubt. Perfect for Buffadlin for sure but i think it has a chance to be used in midrange/control as well. If you look at what pally is missing, it is the threat in late game...besides Tiron, Rag...what else is really threatening? the DK just generates 2/2 tokens.
This weapon will help generate the late game threat that has been missing...assuming this goes infinite, you will always have a 4 attack weapon or a minion with at least 5 attack

Lot of value but also slow. Indeed it looks very good for a control deck.
For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?

This is AWESOME.
It has great potential. Imagine if the buff lands on Doppleganster or Saronite Chain Gang?

Damn, you can drown your opponent in infinite value if they don't have a silence. Seems pretty good.

Ok, healadin might be a thing.

Regardless of how it may perform in Constructed - it's potentially the best Arena card revealed in this entire expansion.
