I'll just add that any BIG druid deck running Deathwing at moment. Also Deathwing was staple in most of Dragon warrior decks, and this archetype was well known and top-performing on tournaments scene before the standard was introduced.
Well, shows how much of a dipshit I am. I don't watch much competitive Hearthstone, and never saw it myself. So go me.
Just confirmed against the innkeeper... Malchezaar's Imp DOES draw when you discard cards with Deathwing. That being said the wording on this card is a bit different, it says ,,destroy all minions. discard your hand. ,, with the dot it implies that the first written effect happens and then the second one so I had to check that also.
I used a Lightwarden because it has the same trigger as the imp ( Whenever ) and then used Siphon Soul on it ( it also has the dot after the Destroy a minion ) and lo and behold the Lightwarden got an attack bonus cause of the 3 heal ( even though it is stated after the destroy a minion part ) and then died.
I think this confirms that Cataclysm WILL work with Malchezaar's Imp unless blizzard changes the rules for this card only xD.
Very interesting find good sir. I take back my previous comments about how I thought that this card would function.
Deathwing doesn't see much play, and it's much better than this.
Think about it, by the time most huge boards are built up; it's turn 10. Why would I run this when I could just run Deathwing instead?
Are you new to hearthstone? I can clearly see why you would say this if you're a new player. But this is very wrong on many levels.
I dunno, in all my games of Hearthstone, I've never seen Deathwing ran. Never. I think it's garbage, and judging by the fact I don't see it ever, I think most people agree.
It looks like you have never climbed more than 15 rank or you are playing hearthstone for less than a year.
I mostly play casual. Too lazy to ladder TBH. Just get to rank 20 and go play Freeze Shaman against shit in casual. Amirite?
This is so much better than Deathwing in discolock, clearing a board turn 4 is much more important than clearing it turn 10. It completes your quest and gives you a good advantage versus aggro/tempo, especially if you have a golem or clutchmother in hand.

Yes, but on turn 4 you could also just use Defile. I'll give it that it would work in a quest warlock or discolock. But will those decks continue to be complete shit? Who knows?
WHAT? of course we need it and a fourth and a fifth and a tenth, once gadgetzan rotates out it's back to controless aggro fiesta because the decent AoE was printed in that expansion.
Death discards whole hand for clear of the whole board. He does take up more mana, but its a 12/12 on the board. You not gonna be clearing on turn 4-7 without a good reason the quest. Just use DeathWing if you need to. If DeathWing sees no play so will this.
Imagine playing the Lakkari Sacrifice on turn one. On turn two you tap, turn three you also tap and play Malchezars Imp (or coin it with Cataclysm). You discard your hand and destroying any potential aggro cards already on the board, and you draw 5 cards and get the quest done on turn 4, basically you win the game turn 4. Btw you get to draw through one third of your deck while looking for Cataclysm, and if you don't get the spell you bassically just play regular middrange/control warlock.
This can make the quest work single-handedly, but even then it's far too slow probably and needs far too long so you can recover. Might still be worth a shot for some meme deck.
I actually don't think this is any good. What minions are you trying to clear on turn 4 exactly? A bunch of hunter beasts? A bunch of pirates? Well, Defile already takes care of that. For those people thinking this will help the quest, a turn 5 summon two imps is.....pretty weak.
I love this card. But I also think that when you play it is a point of contention. The whole play it on four and play quest on five is great and all but it essentially gives your opponent 2 turns of free reign to do what they like. For discard synergy, cards like Doomguard or Lekari Felhound add pressure to the board the minute they are played. It's also gonna be interesting to see how hand advantage effects the cards usability. The most interesting thing though, is how it will impact deck construction. With an more efficient way to finish the quest, most discard cards can be replaced. Maybe people will produce decks like the current Quest Hunter+ Keleseth which is effective both early and late game?

Not that good except in arena or quest warlock.
Unless the warlock artefact is so damned good.
This card could turn "Discard Warlock" into "I have nothing in my hand so I can discard without downside. (and have infinite imps) Warlock"

Amazing in Discardlock, bonkers in arena.

Yeah. It was the first legendary I opened in Un'Goro.
