Beneath the Grounds is back! This minion doesn't suffer too much to have this effect, this feels pretty solid actually.
Edit: Whoa, it's in your own deck. That's a bit sad. Still strong in tempo I think.
Why is it sad? If it works like the other ambushes it doesn't interrupt your draw at all. If it does interrupt draw then it is sad :(
It will most definitely interrupt your draw. Otherwise, the value would be way too high.
In a world where chillwind yeti is not even considered, the value of this card would not be too high if the spiders drew you a card
This card is tricky to evaluate, but what I will say is that shuffling them into your deck is objectively better than shuffling them into your opponents deck to compare this card to Beneath The Grounds because you have more control over how many cards you draw. This is also a way better deal since you are getting an objectively better effect for one more mana and a 4/4 right away.
So while we don't know if this is playable what we do know is that it is way better than Beneath The Grounds(discounting the fact that it stops raza and kazakus and is no longer in standard) in terms of value and tempo.
To really know if this is good you just have analyze how good getting a second 4/4 from this is and which turn after playing this card the spider will appear on average
If you're first player, and you've used no card draw, and you play this on turn 4, you'll draw your first spider in your next 6 draws 56% of the time.
If you're second player, and you've used no card draw, and you play this on turn 4, you'll draw your first spider in your next 5 draws 50% of the time.
If you're first player, and you've used no card draw, and you play this on turn 4, you'll draw at least two spiders in your next 13 draws, 50% of the time.
If you're second player, and you've used no card draw, and you play this on turn 4, you'll draw at least two spiders in your next 13 draws, 53% of the time.
If you're first player, and you've used no card draw, and you play this on turn 4, you'll draw all three spiders in your next 21 draws, 51% of the time.
If you're second player, and you've used no card draw, and you play this on turn 4, you'll draw all three spiders in your next 21 draws, 58% of the time.
Nice so you're getting a spider on turn 9-10 and earlier if you coin it out. That is definitely relevant vs midrange and control. Seems like a meta game call but perhaps not a staple. Maybe a staple in an archetype like miracle rogue where you extremely likely to hit multiples and might have synergy with gadgetzhan auctioneer if you count as casting the ambush spell.
Another thing going for this card is that keleseth rogue has no good 4 drops atm and this kinda decent because it gives you bone mare targets late game more consistently.
you had one job blizz, soft nerf Razakus, any UI using druid and finally quest mage, and what do you do? you put them in our own deck? bravo pro balance game as always ...... also hope they do something about Keleseth that is also an abomination of a card

I mean, it would have been pretty nice right. Though it's still ridiculous value and a great card besides.
Did someone say Mill Rogue? Kinda pollutes your Vanish but I think it could still work as an alternate wincon.
I wonder if vanish will even be needed actually. You'll hopefully have board presence with 4/4s to deal with board and with all the bevy of bounce and copy mechanics you likely won't need vanish for bouncing your cold lights back.
Lets evaluate this. So this can be compared with beneath the ground obviously, that saw some play as a highlander counter. This however shuffles cards into your own deck.
That has the downside that it doesnt counter highlander but the upside that you have more control about the spiders been drawn when you run more carddraw. Its also notable that Raza will rotate out 2018.
on value this basically shuffles 3x 0 mana 4/4 draw a card into your deck. a 4/4 Draw a card is worth around 4.5 Mana, the initial body another 3 which gives this a total value of 16.5 Mana over a whole game which is unheard of for a 4 Drop.
Also the more important difference to beneath the ground is, that this has an initial body and so doesnt come with such a tempo loss like beaneath the ground did, which was the main weakness of the card.
This also works well with bounce cards and copy cards since the battlecry is one of the most valuable battlecrys in the game.
I asume this will be rogue staple in all decks till it rotates out.
When draw you summon them for free and then draw again.
Clarification
If you get this in your hand somehow (Thoughtsteal for example) they are castable spells that summon a 4/4. (Source)
When you draw an Ambush it doesn't cost any mana. They cast automatically for 0 mana. They don't trigger Auctioneer or Pyromancer when this happens. (Source)
And it's actually pretty good vs dragonfire potion.
it's a T4 will the potion is a T6.
and you're spider will come one after the other so most of the time they ain't supposed to die together.
And at last running with 2 of those cards mean you will have 8x 4/4 minions in your deck will 6 of them are free to summon.
Spider Ambush! creates a Leyline Spider on the board, that remains a 4 mana 4/4 when sapped, vanished or psychic screamed into your deck. Drawing that 4/4 will not cause you to draw cards or play it on the board. Just to clarify that it really doesn't "combat psychic scream".
If the card itself is shuffled back into the deck along side most combo and battle cry cards from rogue it can actually combat psychic scream quite well as adding 4 more nerubians to the deck can be quite painful also screaming while leyline spiders are in the deck can just reset your swing pretty quickly. You can easily build around this deck using more draw to push alot of cycling into the deck and board feed repeatedly big boards. It synergizes with valeera even the cast effect may synergize with valeera as if the spell triggers DK valeeras hero power playing a second 4/4 and drawing a card may result in a 3rd 4/4. It could even be used to create a value rogue deck using zola, shadowcasters, Sonya, Cheat Death and Shadowstep, to top that off it you can freeplay the token into a bonemare. The card has amazing applications to play against priest.
Returning the minion itself with psychic scream or alot of the other cards from rogue could actually set you back quite a bit as rogue can generally far exceed priest when it comes to draw mechanics especially with miracle rogue. I dont think the down side to a psychic scream from priest by itself is enough to clunk up the deck with all the battle cry mechanics that you would refeed a rogue deck. Dont get me wrong the meta has not been determined yet but i have a feeling rogue will be in tier 1 regardless of psychic scream or priests removal currently.
Currently i see the meta remaining with druid priest and rogue at the top of the list probably with a much better win rate gab than it has currently but we still have yet to see the rest of the cards from the expansion so.
I have to disagree. I honestly can't tell if you acknowledged this or not so I will just make a point of saying it. You don't get Spider Ambush! back in you deck. You get the actual vanilla 4/4 minion it created. Getting a bunch of tokens shuffled back into your deck will absolutely slow you down. You have to remember it also slows down your ability to actually draw into your cycling cards. Psychic Scream is good removal against any deck that relies on tokens. Those tokens will gunk up your decks ability to cycle as your are drawing shitty tokens instead of your actual cycle. So even if your deck is good at cycling, it won't mean much if you can't get to your cycle, or that when you do key pieces of your deck you are trying to cycle to are just getting blocked by shitty tokens.
This is a good card in any case. One spell from one class does not move the card into uselessness as some have said.
Surprisingly no one has mentioned how Spider Ambush! will interact with cards like Mimic Pod though! It seemed obvious to me that it wouldn't interact with with Gadgetzan Auctioneer as you aren't casting the card yourself, that is just an effect of the draw. But what I don't know is how Mimic Pod treats the copy. If it treats it as a draw as well, then you'll get 2 4/4 spiders for free then you'll draw 2 more cards!. If it doesn't then you'll get one free 4/4, an actual copy of Spider Ambush! in hand and then you'll draw one more card as that is what Spider Ambush! states you do when the card is drawn.
I didnt say you got the spider ambush but 1 token or 2 tokens even to a psychic scream isnt that bad. If you end up with something else back in your deck the reason being rogue will always out draw priest. And they arnt exactly bad tokens being 4/4's for 4 mana rather than 1/1 or 2/2 minions in the late game there stats are somewhat reasonable. Rogues better draw would get enable them to restock after the removal.
no its cast for free when drawn but costs 4 if played from hand (thoughtsteal etc)
No, it specificly states 4 mana on the card, while ambush states 0 mana. (the spell itself wich gets shuffeled into the deck). Ambush! and Spider Ambush! shouldnt work the same since they are worded differently, if they do, they need to reword one or both of the cards.

They do have better draw but putting tokens back into your deck directly hurts their draw. 1 or 2 tokens is not too bad, admittedly. But picking up even one as a draw instead of something to help your win condition against a class like priest, right now, is very bad.
In any event the deck I am thinking of is token based. Maybe this is a good enough card to just throw in any rogue deck and hence Psychic Scream wouldn't be as big a deal for you. For the deck I have in mind it's pretty bad lol.

I feel like this is pretty busted for miracle rogue
This expansion looks like one of the worst ones along with MSG.
Did someone say Mill Rogue? Kinda pollutes your Vanish but I think it could still work as an alternate wincon.
finally some counter to raza preist
i play for win not for fun
Best Rogue card we've had in ages.

Now I think of this. Is this good enough to make Cheat Death playable?
Of course, keeping in mind you will couple it with Auctioneer, Vilespine, Arcane Giant and some other strong battlecry/combo minions.
