but honestly its like King's Elekk, which was the only fine joust card, so I dont think this will be too bad (beast mage meta), but the Arcanologist is better due to stat line, minimal rng, and guaranteed thin.
almost every imaginable mage deck is going to be running ~4 secrets. even if you're running 2/3 arcanologist is probably better.
this reveals the drawn card too - so lets say you build with lots of high cost spells, spiteful summoner, medivh. play this, your opponent sees the flamestrike/meteor you pulled and will play around it. i just don't see this being terribly good.

Spells are different than minions. You can generally get away with running fewer spells, or spells of higher mana cost without affecting the consistency of your deck too much. You want minions that are cheap but you don't need cheap spells.
So this is the Mage version of King's Elekk. All things considered, it's not a bad card. If any decks involving Spiteful Summoner ever come into play, this card could be really useful for cycling the...wait, this card would actually work AGAINST Spiteful Summoner because you need to have the spell in your deck for the effect to trigger.
Okay, so maybe it won't get comboed with Spiteful Summoner, but it could still see play just as a possible draw mechanism. I mean, if it's just King's Elekk that draws spells and has 1 less attack, there isn't much to scoff at.
Bit of a strange card. I can't see it replacing Arcanologist because it doesn't guarantee you a draw, and it has worse stats. Is this better in a control type Mage? It would be interesting to see Mage get some dragon support to make The Curator viable in Mage.
On the plus side, King's Elekk was the only Joust card which saw a great deal of play "back in the day," and it currently plays an important role in one of the better decks in Wild. On the negative side, compared to Elekk, Raven Familiar only has a 2/2 body, so it will often die for free when its Battlecry whiffs, which is a pretty big deal. But if the new card compares poorly to Elekk, it's even worse compared to Arcanologist, which always draws a card when played on curve, and has a much better body. It might see some fringe play in Wild - Reno Mage runs Brann Bronzebeard, and Raven Familiar is cheap enough to combo with Brann and some other cheap Battlecry in the late game.
Well King's Elekk saw play, and this is a King's Elekk for spells (which, are generally cheaper outside of mage, warlock and maybe priest). Pretty much guaranteed to go off against Keleseth decks, and other minion-heavy decks.
Allows for strong draw without secrets. But, ice block is too good to not run in control.
Could be good enough to run both of them, though. Very hard to run out of steam with 4 strong stat draw cards on 2 mana.
Exactly what I was going to say.
Am a budget player trying to create fun and interesting decks. Sorry for bad spelling.

Hello Joust, my old friend.
You can use your Arcanologists to tutor your secrets and then use these to pull your Pyroblast in the late game.
Still not very good because you really need Secrets and Frostbolt

Joust mechanic 2.0. Just minus the Joust keyword...
Not a great card, but not a horrible card if only because of the draw chance. Of course your opponent now would know what to play around.
Doesn't have a chance in standard imo, but a decent arena card
Shows Flamestrike and your opponent now knows to play around it.
Up until now 30% "Very good"
Wtf!? This card is garbage! Every Priest runs high cost spells and we will meat a lot of Priests!
Druid? Weeeeeeeee
I wouldnt skip Frost Bolt, GLYPH or ice Block, let alone Archeologiest.

tbf, this should be a 2/3 and arcanologist should be a 2/2
I knew I recognized that name from before...
Hey that's not your avatar.

Oh dude, I loved The Grand Tournament!
Get nae nae'd!
Shakespeare actually. GoT took that. As well as many high Fantasy books/movies/rpgs etc.
A beast for mage + a revival of Joust - this time, for spell ?!
"What have you got there,
PinocchioMalygos?"
