It just costs too much. Even if you're able to immediately break the chest, and want to instead of dealing 8+ damage to your opponent, you can't play the treasure that turn. And the treasure, while good, isn't THAT good (except possibly the one that reduces 3 card costs to 0, that could make a huge impact immediately when played). The others are your typical hearthstone random crap - summon 2 random legendaries which could suck, fill your hand with something which could not be as good as it sounds, and another golden monkey, but only for your hand (why?).
Clearly a "fun but not viable" card that Blizzard loves making.
Marin the Fox is an 8 mana 6/6 which spawns a 0/8 treasure chest on the opponent's side. when destroyed, it will give you an incredibly powerful 3-cost spell.
First off, does EVERYBODY get Marin on Monday? Is it like C'thun, where everyone just has it regardless? Because if that's true, then Marin will be everywhere for at least the first week of the expansion.
But the big question is: is Marin the Fox really any good? He is a 6/6 body for 8, so definitely NOT going to played in tempo decks. In my opinion, he is going to be played exclusively in control or mid-range decks like Quest Priest or DK Paladin. But is he like the Lich King, where you can fit him in (almost) any deck? Or is he going to be exciting for about 30 seconds, and then buried forever?

I dont think he will see alot of play outside priest decks though I will try a rogue shadow step crazed alchemist combo at least once even though i dont think it will work just for fun.
Everyone may be getting it, but I think you're vastly overestimating how many people will play him more than once or twice for kicks and giggles. It really doesn't fit into any deck of any kind at all. The card is actually just bad. Fun, goofy, flavorful and not as bad as Gelbin and ECT but still bad enough that it will be played only by people who enjoy the memeing more than winning.
As a person who bought the virtual ticket, I’m kind of pissed that they gave the blizzfon legendary to everyone instead of one from the upcoming set. He isn’t good, but he certainly won’t be rare like we’d hope. Even if he is golden I’m sure he’ll be everywhere that week instead of being exceptionally rare

But they are giving a free legendary from the upcoming set. It will be one of the class weapons just like they did with the free DK from KoFT.
I voted "bad" because I don't think it will be a strong card, but it does look like a fun card. Also I think it's great to have something new to play with in the last month of an expansion cycle.
It was announced that everyone is getting a free copy of the card and that those who went to blizz/got the virtual ticket are also getting a golden copy.
I challenge you all to beat cancer aggro decks by filling their board with 7 chests 0/8 and waiting fatigue :')

Slow, not great immediate impact... but it will be fun- for everyone- Thanks Blizzard
I am envoy from nowhere in nowhere. Nobody and nothing have sent me. And though it is impossible I exist. ©Trimutius

Mage can polymorph it if they're spooked.
Shaman can evolve it.
Warlocks with treachery can steal it.
Rogues can return it to their hand.
Priests can silence. Then some may turn it into a high health damage creature.
Warrior can take their chances.
Folks running bonemare have a super target. Ditto Paladins.
On the plus side, everyone is getting Marin tomorrow, which means that you won't be seeing him in your packs, come December.
Release the Kraken!
OP.
How come this minion is not a pirate ?

I wonder if I played Marin the Fox then the opponent destroys the Master Chest, is he gonna take the deathrattle?
1 question:
When will we get Marin, aka at what time will the game get patched? Please give some info for the EU server. Ty in advance.
