There was just a guy who was 100 % certain the reason why Jade Idol was not banned or nerfed yet was because Team 5 was stubborn. And that’s just an opinion.
Yes, I saw your comments. And I tend to agree with you on this. Although the Devs may actually be scared to make too many nerfs, all at once, as to not make the players doupt their game design policy, and thus lose from HSs` playerbase/buyerslist (and that is an opinion), accusing them of stubborness (also an opinion) is...kind of childish (opinion). But I have already stated the problem, and the reasoning for the no-nerf. And that is not a mere opinion...
You might be right but I want proof before we can confirm Team 5 as ‘scared’ :) Otherwise it’s just speculation.
And there’s nothing wrong with speculation. It’s just not anything serious until confirmed.
UI is awful. there's no reason it should exist. druid already has great draw options, and combined w/ their ramp, it's just stupid. drawing cards should be a tempo hit, always. it's just bad design.
ice block is my other least favorite. of course, it's only obnoxious in tandem with mage's stall, OTK, and spell generation capabilities, but it feels like a low skill cheat card. popping 4 ice blocks is such a chore, you feel angry even if you win. and teching against it is usually a bad idea.
i actually like the design of patches. *shrug*.
edit: also, spreading plague bothers me way more than most of the cards on the list. again, just stupid design. too strong in a class that didn't need immunity to wide boards.
I wasn't around during Undertaker Hunter so I voted Rogue Quest. It's not the most oppressive card on the list, but it's definitely the one that's given me the most fits.
Jesus Christ this thread is saltier than the dead sea. This is no place to duke it out over some stupid Jade Idol shenanigans and why Team 5 aren't willing to admit a mistake. This is a thread for "What card do you - YOU - not the entire community - hate the most". Personally, I don't hate any of these cards, I think they are perfectly fine. The only problem is people that want to make themselves feel superior by saying that "Everyone here is a new player and Jade Idol is not a bad card because 100% winrate no counter is TOTALLY not broken". It's a GAME. An online card game made by a company that wants to make money. I'm tempted to say that making this thread may have been a mistake, but I don't want to be rude.
Also Velrun stop putting a smiley face after every sentence, you're gonna end up looking like a narcissistic pedophile.

I read this and thought it's also a popularity vote at the same time.
Simply put the most hated card is probably the most used card by the player base. The irony.
The thread title kind of sets this thread up to be negative. Maybe should have been called " The Great, Most Disruptive Meta Card, Debate!" Or now the: Salt Thread 2.0
Jade idol and Caverns Below bothered me more than anything, because it made playing super control decks nearly impossible for a while. Neither of these cards were really overpowered, but they shut down any decks that didn't have game ending 30 damage combos or an overwhelming early rush.
As my favorite decks are midrange/late game decks that outlast their opponents, and I just kind of feel... a loss of personal identity whenever i'm not playing one of these decks (not sure how to describe it), these cards gave me the choice of either playing a deck I didn't enjoy or losing a whole bunch.
Ugh I hate Flamewaker so much. If you can't kill it the turn it comes out, you pretty much lose. Then you have to watch, as your opponent spams spells at your face whilst clearing your board and generally gaining a ridiculous amount of tempo. The worst part is that the animation takes forever, and your opponent will definitely also take their sweet time discovering cheap spell after cheap spell. Oh, and this is all on turn 4. Expect a Fireball to the face for lethal even if you manage to survive the initial barrage.
Ice Block is also really annoying, it's the ultimate killjoy.

Well this thread seems like it’s 90 % new players.
Jade Idol, Caverns Below, DK Anduin and Ultimate Infestation is NOTHING compared to Undertaker Hunter back when Naxx came out.
And before that Leeroy was a 5 mana monster.
You have to take in consideration that Undertaker was nerfed, while Jade Idol not.
Luckily we’re not discussing how hated a card is now but how hated a card was when it was most hated.
Undertaker was nerfed because it was oppressive in a way Jade Idol never experienced. There’s a reason why Jade Idol didn’t get nerfed and Undertaker did.
Undertaker was hated for a much shorter period of time than Jade Idol (a card that many people, including myself, continue hating), and so, Jade Idol is a much more bigger offense to players in general than pre-nerf Undertaker. And the reason why Jade Idol didn't get nerfed is because Team 5 is to arrogant to admit that printing such a controversial card was a terrible mistake.
Some people don't even remember that the devs staunchly defended Undertaker as balanced during that era. I recall an article on the front page of this site where one of them argued that Undertaker was 'strong but not too strong'. The article was of course widely mocked in the commentary. Only when huntertaker encroached on the 60% market share of the meta were the devs forced to begrudgingly intervene. They really do seem to have an issue with admitting mistakes. In some ways, the last-minute nerf on Patches supports that position because here they admit it was a mistake for the whole time yet failed to address it until imminent rotation would have solved the issue.

I don't hate most of the cards you listed... If I were to make a top 10:
1. Yogg-Saron, Hope's End - I loathed the pre-nerf version and I ain't really fond of the post-nerf Yogg. It is so frustating to be completely destroyed by Yogg. It does not happen that often, but when it does happen it is such a helpless scenario. You have had complete control of the game the whole game, you're about to win. Then your opponent plays the Hail Mary, i.e. Yogg and it completely destroys your board, deals damage to your face, draws cards for your enemy, restores him a lot of health and makes him a board. It was fun to watch Trolden clips, but awful to face it.
2. Undertaker (Pre-nerf) - That was a long time ago. But undertaker was a big problem. If the enemy plays it on turn 1 and you have no answer immediately, your chance of winning the game just got really low. It would snowball fast and, as it could be played as soon as turn 1, most classes had no way to deal with it before it was too late.
3. Starving Buzzard (Pre-nerf) - Oh my... The patch that nerfed the 2-mana 2/1 Starving Buzzard as well as Leeroy was what I consider to be one of the most deserved patches thus far. The old Buzzard was such a card draw powerhouse.
4. Voidlord - I am actually surprised that this card isn't on the poll. I don't hate Voidlord itself, but the abilities to cheat-summon it early on and to ressurrect him over and over again are really impactful on the meta. I know the meta is a complex thing and we can't really say "If not for this card... the meta would be like...". But I reckon Voidlord IS (and will be) what killed Midrange decks. I don't hate playing against it, because I play decks that are equipped with tools to deal with it (as long as you draw them soon enough), but I hate the impact it has on the meta.
5. Leeroy Jenkins (Pre-nerf) - Leeroy is one of the best legendarys at the moment, now imagine it when the game had way less powercreep and it costed 4 mana. Pre-nerf Leeroy was INSANE.
6. Patches the Pirate (Pre-nerf) - Extremely powerful in aggro and token decks.
7. Gadgetzan Auctioneer (Pre-nerf) - Before GvG, Auctioneer used to cost only 5 mana. That made the whole miracle engine way easier to get started.
8. Ice Block - Usually the cards I hate are cards that either you can't deal with them effectively or soon enough. My problem with Ice Block is the former, the only neutral secrets counter is Eater of Secrets, such a bad tech card that it wasn't played in the Secret Paladin meta. Without any efficient counterplay, Ice Block is just too uninteractive to play against.
9. Flamewaker - A card with potential to win you games completely at random.
10. Flamewreathed Faceless - They introduced it in the same patch they nerfed Big Game Hunter. That's my problem with the 4-mana 7/7. Most classes couldn't deal with a threat that big as soon as turn 4 for a while.
I usually hate cards that you either can't play against at all, effectively or soon enough. Most of the cards in the poll don't fit in these categories.
To be honest I'm not suprised. I've been playing hearthstone for years and I had only one breakdown, when time I stopped playing for like 2 months... it was because of small-time bucaneer. So I picked this answer, alongside jade idol and UI. I think STB was VERY hard to counter card for control decks when you needed to spend around 2 mana to frostbolt one drop when 3 buffed pirates are coming for you. (patches, 1/1 pirate and 3/3 capitan on coin).
I was never so mad and angry at HS when STB was 1/2. So I quited and came back just after I heard about the nerfs. Since than I didn't stop playing (I mean i don't have to play everyday, but on regular basis).

Wow, that escalated fast. Is calling each other "narcissistic pedophiles" on the internet now a thing on Hearthpwn?

Jade Idol should NEVER exist.
If you picked anything besides Undertaker you haven't played HS long enough.

Played since Beta. Coldlight Oracle. Not even close.
