I'm really happy they chose to nerf these 3 basic cards.
I waited for like ages to see Hex become the same power level as polymorph; Also Innervate as to Counterfeit Coin. Thank God, Blizzard finally did it.
Then Feiry War Axe as 3 mana, well i could say it's like hero power + deadly poison in Rogue, and spirit claw + Thalnos/hero power (spell damage) in Shaman which all cost 3 mana so its fine. Pirate Warriors are annoying anyway lul.
Overall, I'm happy, my friends are happy, and half of the population of players seems to like it as well. Thank you Blizzard.
wahhh wahh wahhh that's all I see in that wall of text.
Thanks for your constructive comment. What, can't I disagree with the changes to my favorite game? Can't I think that they're a bad idea? If crying is all you see in my post you might need new glasses.
kinda a spam post, but:
i hate, when people go with "wall of text" arguments. How do they even read books? What do they want from you - "this card is bad"? 4 words, which explains absolutely nothing.
Complains about the game not having frequent balance changes. Then you complain when it gets some minor balance changes.
Innervate sucks in Astral Communion decks anyway. Unless you draw both your innervate, and astral communion by turn 2, it's a dead draw.
So if they make the wrong changes I should be happy because at least they changed something? Also Innervate is actually great in astral communion druid, just check this deck's guide.
They weren't the wrong changes. You're just upset that they made any changes.
And there's nothing, other than your opinion, to say that Innervate makes the deck better. And even if it does, the change shouldn't be redacted for the sake of your terrible gimmick deck.
I have been trying to digest what everyone's been saying here and elsewhere. Without discussing it card by card but just taken as a whole, basically The Meta is going to get worse. Is this the general consensus?
@chessterton I have noticed that even the best player's predictions of the Meta and changes can be off. How many times have we seen TrumpSC rating cards at a 1-star to only come back and say he was wrong?
There are people who are displeased with this nerf, there are some excited.
The solution for Jade Idol is already there: Skulking Geist. But the problem was that it didn't make a difference because of the high tempo Druid keeps pushing. The Innervate nerf will affect that tempo; as well as Spreading Plague but a lesser extent.
At the end, will Jade Druid will still be around? YES. It is still good. But I think it's popularity will lower which is the main issue nowadays. And that makes these changes actually good. It won't KILL an archetype. It just puts it down to the level of other archetypes.
Oh I guess warrior doesn't have a weapon now. Just think about it, if you aren't playing pirates and you're not playing enrage what weapon are you going to put in your deck? This one is pretty bad and once again if you REALLY wanted to nerf it, like the problem with warrior wasn't pirates you know, well ok set it's attack to 2. Don't come at me with this "oh but if you only change the mana cost it's the same card." Maybe that's true for a card that I play for its effect but I play it for the tempo. If reno jackson costed 7 it's still essentially the same card but if totem golem costs 3 it sucks ass.
Plenty of Hunters run Eaglehorn Bow without secrets, and paladins run Rallying Blade, not entirely without divine shields, but without caring if the battlecry hits anything. Why? Because a 3/2 for 3 weapon is still good enough to put in a deck. A 3/2 for 2 weapon was insanely good 6-stars on a 5-star scale, but a 3/2 for 3 is "only" a 4-star card.
And there used to be a 3-mana Totem Golem. It was called Spider Tank. It saw play. Not a staple or a key card, but it saw play.
Current solution: Play aggro pirate or murloc and hope to get the win before they can ramp.
Post "nerf": There isn't one. The marginal contenders to Jade's power have been nerfed. Game. Set. Match.
And a word of caution to those espousing how we're just being salty... Jade isn't even an expensive deck to make. You want nothing but Malfurion vs. Malfurion? With the exact same deck give or take a card or two?? Sounds boring as Hell.
I agree, I actually think the nerf to innervate makes Jade Druid stronger. Innervate was a great card, but it ate up 2 card slots in the deck for no board presence. Jade Druid will still have ramp, loads of ramp. But now those slots will allow minions and tech cards. Blizzard pointed to the coin as a viable use for it, but fewer and fewer Jade Druids were using auctioneer after UI was released. 5 card draw was better than auctioneer and they didnt have to have mil cards, plus it gave a minion, did damage, and gave armor. With those two card slots the decks will be varied and harder to plan against. If there are extra bodies, slower decks will have issues because of more damage. Fast decks got nerfed and an extra mana on spreading pluage will do nothing with the ramp druids have. Agro druid is in trouble because no more viscous fledgling on turn one or extra mana to buff minions. Pirate warrior is really in bad shape because the fiery win axe curve is messed up.
If losing Innervate made jade druid stronger, why put Innervate in jade druid in the first place?
Some pro would have realised jade druid was better without Innervates and would have take it out in favor of more bodies or tech cards. But playing turn 4/3/2 Aya Blackpaw was too good a play for being ignored, and so playing UI even sooner, or double Jade Behemoth, or combining Jade Spirit with Swipe in mid game, Innervate gave them all the flexibility to play their cards as they pleased, either to deal huge tempo swings, making board clears out of playing multiple cards in no time, things that a tech card does'nt do nearly as good.
Are the nerfs (as a whole) benefit jade druid rather than make it weaker? Don't know, they probably will, probably will not, I hope jade druid becomes weaker, but I don't know. Is Innervate nerf gonna make jade druid stronger? Definitively not.
-Innervate : i agree this laziest way to nerf but you forget how broken of this card in token/aggro , "in fact it was a fun card to play and to play against" yeah turn 1 flappy bird, hydra, fel reaver... is so fun to play against
- Murloc Warleader : tbf this isnt his fault, problem come from murloc's snowballing mechanic is ridiculous right now . Nothing below 5 mana can clear murlocs board because +1 hp aura (except whirlwind + fishes or hellfire depend on your situation) and then with a big murloc board survive a second warleader or megasaur with winfury adapt will come and SMOrc you
- Hex : i dont understand Team 5 decision here but still good card for sure,Devolve will rotate next year so Hex will be only choice for shaman
- SP : until see update live i have no idea how good/bad of this change ,6 mana still very playble but sometimes slower 1 turn = lose against aggro
The basic card nerfs make those cards consistent with similar cards in the game and provide a baseline for the game. The Warleader nerf doesn't affect the power of the card, since it was the attack you cared about, but it makes murlocs in general easier to deal with. Spreading Plague is also justified, and I think the mana cost is still decent without the card becoming overpowering. Overall, Blizzard did a good job with these nerfs and didn't go overboard.
Now if only they fixed Ultimate Infestation...

I think the hex nerf might have something to do with freeze shaman and Ice Breaker . Maby they were afraid of shaman having too many efficient single target removals in the future. Or they just wanted players to buy packs with ice breaker and other freeze cards :)
Current solution: Play aggro pirate or murloc and hope to get the win before they can ramp.

I think we are coming at it from 2 different angles. Im looking at it from a more standard play and your looking at it from an not so common opportunity play. Those plays happened, but it wasnt the reason Jade Druid won a ton of games vs Agro Druid which counted on innervate and opportunity plays. I will say that perhaps stronger will not happen, but I dont think it will harm the deck.
There is nothing wrong with Ultimate Infestation. It's all the cards that get you there quicker that is the problem. And with Innervate nerfed, you won't get there as quickly now.
The problem with Ultimate Infestation is the card draw. It mitigates the downside of heavy ramping. Because of that, Druids can just ramp with impunity, because they know UI will make up for the resource loss. Reducing or eliminating the card draw would solve this, as it would cause druids to evaluate when and if they want to play UI, as compared to another play, as they will not regain the resources they lost to get that point. There would be a proper risk/reward decision to be made, unlike now, where there isn't much of a risk to just heavy ramping up to 10 and dropping UI.

I agree with you "won't get there as quickly now." Also I have seen Ultimate Infestation played and then 2 Innervate and 2 Wrath or 1 Swipe pretty much clearing the board.
I don't agree there is nothing wrong with Ultimate Infestation. It's way too much to Deal 5 Damage, Draw 5 Cards, Gain 5 Armor and to top it off with a 5/5 Ghoul.
These are all bad changes. I feel like any popular classic card is in danger of being nerfed. I supposed it makes financial sense. Nobody is spending money to get innervate. They are spending money to get that 10-mana monstrosity for Druid.
Innervate – this is not the problem. It has been around forever, and it has been fine up until jade. Jade is clearly the problem. That they didn’t nerf jade at all is insulting.
Hex – nobody was complaining about this card. It was a great card. You have to love that it can silence a deathrattle. That’s what makes it a great removal (like polymorph). You have to play around it if you are playing against a Shaman. Who really wants to remove that layer of strategy?
Fiery War Axe – this card is synonymous with Warrior. It defines him. Just a bad idea to nerf this card. It’s okay to every class to have 1-2 classic cards that are overpowered in ways that define that class. Warrior should not have the worst 3-cost weapon in the game.
Warleader – what? WHAT? This is the key card that makes murlocs a thing. It’s not like murlocs have been wrecking everyone on the ladder. They have always been hit-or-miss. You have to have them line up just right. Now they nerf murlocs? Makes no sense. It was a great card. I think they are mad that people beat the Lich King with cheap murlocs instead of pricey legendaries.
Innervate (agree) - because power level of UI, jade-innervate become problem. before turn 10 druid can cast UI and after turn 10 druid cast UI and then innervate, 2x jade idol jade idol, which is insane. And then flappy bird-innervate, if you dont have the answer on turn 2 you have 0.1111111% chance to win against innervate-flappy bird on turn 1.
Fiery win axe- Pirate deck nerf more than control deck. but the curve: t(1)pirate - t(2)axe - t(3)pirate that buff axes is broken i think. too many synergies for agro tribal deck which is insane.
murlocs - abuse health mechanic.
Dude, rogue already suffer for blade flurry nerf that make them cant handle those tribal agro decks.. So just deal with it and be creative. there are hundreds card that have synergies to make good decks

Spider Tank doesn't have overload and sure, you CAN play it but a much better nerf would probably be reducing its stats to 3/3. This idea of changing the mana cost can work with cards with powerful effects but it completely obliterates stat based low mana cost cards like fiery war axe. Also how good a card is depends on the class you play it in. Those cards work well in hunter and paladin because their tools are different.
You might as well go typing by asking Blizard nerfing every single cards. There's no fairnesss in the world anyway
Of cuz everygame there will and has it unbalanced there forever cannot be resolved.
Example for DOTA , LOL and Heroes of the Storm and Starcraft etc.. are the Heroes and Races all balanced ?
I can understand the furstration of everybody. Those who are using the Pirate deck rolling the ladder will get piss off. And if im a Shaman user,i will defintely furstrated over the HEX too.
And vice versa if you hate Mage, you will somehow feel delight over her secret being nerf.
i believe afterall, life still carry on and you will still be playing Hearthstone. The only dumb thing is the cards like Ultimate Infestion suppose to be in " wanted list number 1 " but they talking into/hold consideration. Basic cards are not refund for dust.
F you Blizzard. Have you ever thought of players like me who started playing the 1st day hearthstone lauched ?
A fair nerf would be the Jade Idol with the same mechanic, except the shuffled copies cannot shuffle again. The most you could have from that card is 6 Golems. But i think this nerf is meant to set something up in the future. Innervate in theory is pretty busted but is iconic yes. Jade is the problem, but if that deck got killed then Highlander Priest would flood the meta and as a result another brutal meta of ultra fast decks like Pirate. Theres more to this, and honestly I enjoy playing casual instead of getting worked up over ranks.
