Real talk for a second: It was called Fiery Win Axe and a 2x autoinclude in literally every warrior deck for very good reason. As a 2-mana 3/2 this card was a problem and it needed a change. However, I have mixed feelings on this nerf.
I think the better option would be to reduce its attack to 2 (which they did discuss as an option in their full dev notes) which keeps its soul of "early board control or face smacking" alive, while giving 3-health early drops a decent chance of survival. Overall I'm happy this card was changed, but IDK how much it will do to stop PW with Patches the Pirate and N'Zoth's First Mate still around.
This is an uncalled for nerf. In wild pirate warrior is maybe tier 3, in standard it isn't much better. The issue I have with this is the fact that control warriors lose their only early game removal that actually can kill minions. Rip warrior, considering king's defender is a better FWA, and that's garbage
This nerf is one of the most moronic things blizzard has done, and that's saying something. And I love how people are saying it's good because it nerfs pirate warrior. This nerf will hit control based decks way more than it will aggro, mostly because aggro has something else to do on turn 2, and CW doesn't.

According to Tempostorm it is tier 1 in both wild and standard. According to Vicious Syndicate, it might actually be the best deck in all of standard.
This is indeed kind of a good nerf for PW, even if I doubt it will be hurt so hard. It already has so many tools for damage and turn 2 plays that even with 1 less it could survive well enough.
What I was stating was than any other known archetype of Warrior will be close to unplayable now since War has almost no early game in terms of minions and now even in terms of removing tools/weapons.
PW might not be dead, but after the update, Warriors will have a big problem with maintaining the board in the early stages of game. This was not a right decision, i think making it 2/2 woulda been better. At least warriors could kill a 2/3 minion with one weapon charge and patches, now they have to wait a whole turn. I actually feel bad for Warrior class and Warrior mains.
i'm with the if you want to keep the card simple why don't jsut add "can't attack heroes" to the effect and keep the mana cost crew
Would still carry Pirates most likely. Its main purpose is to remove any counterplay early on so that pirates stick to the board. I am glad to see pirate warrior taking this nerfbat right between the eyes.
Sad to see this card go, since it has been the identity of warrior since beta when i started playing. Also a huge blow for an already suffering arena class.
This is still playable, considering how Paladin can run their almost identical weapon without having any Divine Shield synergy. However it will still be a terrible card that you won't be too happy about running, so basically on an appropriate power level for a non-rotating card.
The problem with this nerf is that now Control Warrior has almost no 2-drops, In my opinion Blizzard should do this nerf along with a buff to Slam to make it deal 3 damage, something so CW isn't left dead in the water. The deck was punished enough by the Execute nerf.

I think it is obvious by now that Blizzard doesn't actually want control warrior in the game.
Which is understandable, it's bad for business if you can just use the core set and have fun.
Great nerf, awful timing. History has proven that 3-cost 3-2 weapons are playable even w/o synergy (I often play Rallying Blade at 3 w/o DS minions and it's still great), so midrange and control variants will still play it for sure. The only deck this truly hits hard is PW, which was long overdue.
The problem is their decision to nerf PW now, when it's one of the very few reliable counters to Jade Druid, which was simply not hit enough. If JD had fallen together with everyone else it would have been ok, but now.. oh dear.

But don't let silly things like stats and professional opinions get in the way of this guy's bad opinion!

Welp, no reason to use this anymore.

Sorry but this is just an uncalled for nerf. I don't understand most of these nerfs, what exactly do these nerfs change?

I get they wanted to hurt Pirates, but why ruin Control Warrior?

RIP Warrior 2017 !
The class will join Hunter . Actually Hunter might even be better than warrior now .
usual blizzard nerf. card is garbage now.
"Jade druid is broken"
"Ok, let's nerf it slightly and all the decks that beat it greatly"
"Good idea".
- Team 5, probably
