At first glance Scourgelord Garrosh looks like a great card for any Warrior deck, and in some ways it is. But compared to the other Death Knights he is really lacking due to his Hero Power which is one of the worst, if not THE worst. In some cases the Hero Power is good because you can enrage your own minions and combo it with a lot of things, but the deck type that revolves around damaging your minions doesn't work right now and probably never will. It also removes the ability to gain armor, which is very important for a Warrior due to all the face damage they take from weapons. Another thing to note is that 5 out of 9 classes have at least 1 lifesteal card. One of the 4 classes lacking any kind of lifesteal card is, very surprisingly, the Warrior. The classes that you would most likely assume to have the most lifesteal cards would be Warrior, Priest and Rogue, but Warrior has none (obviously) and Rogue surprisingly only has 1.
So a way to make Scourgelord Garrosh better and make more sense as a Death Knight would be to change his Hero Power to "Lifesteal. Deal 1 damage to all minions." This would keep the occasional synergy with your minions due to the Whirlwind effect while also giving Warrior a way to stay alive once you use Scourgelord Garrosh. And, perhaps most importantly, it makes sense (and fits in really well) to give the Warrior Death Knight some kind of lifesteal that gets better the more opponents you face.
What are your thoughts on this? Does Scourgelord Garrosh need a buff, and if so, does this small change fit that perfectly? Or do you have some other kind of buff in mind?
just played against my first warrior DK. I just loled with my taunt warrior after finishing quest and just pummeling him while he failed to finish me off because all he could do was swing at my taunts (weakening himself) and eat my fireballs. Oh yeah, he could hurt his own minions too but that didn't help too much...
barely, squeaked out the win, but the DK was really not helping him in that late game. quest > DK imo.
i think it would be better if it was gain 3 armor and deal 1 damage to all minions
That would be great too, but most of the Death Knights get completely new Hero Powers. But since Jaina still keeps her 1 damage I could see that being done to Scourgelord Garrosh.

uhmm the lifesteal idea is way better flavorwise, some of the wow veterans said dks in wow use lifesteal so it's a lot better flavorwise, it also makes some decks fear the hero power, yes it punishes playing too many minions but at that point in the game people are usually playing 1 minion per turn, a maximum of two.
Kind of surprised by the results I have to say. The DK is fine. Not the strongest, but also not the weakest in my opinion. Warrior has so many viable archetypes that making an "auto include in every warrior deck" DK would be a bad idea. And giving lifesteal to the hero power would make the DK way too insane, in my opinion.
sorry but this game has no such a thing like "buff" Don't you see how they try hard to make Discard Warlock become a thing. but no one never ask for. WE PRAY. WE BEG FOR MERCY. But still they use LEGENDARY minion slot of warlock for discard mechanic. 2 expansion in a row.
Making him start with more that 5 armor like the other dk's would have been a nice boost I think, given he's a warrior the extra armor is good synergy, maybe 10 armor instead of 5 boost would have been good
Sorry for bump. I think what this needs to be is: Choose one: Deal 1 damage to all minions or GAIN 2 armor. When there are situations where the whirlwind doesn't suit you and you have mana to spare, the Scourgelord feels useless. With the standard Warrior at least you always get 2 armor.
Its actually a good idea, and not unprecedented given the Druid DK hero power.

I wanna glide down, over Mulholland I wanna write her, name in the sky I wanna free fall, out into nothin' Gonna leave this, world for awhile
Make the new hero power do both, the armor up AND 1 damage to all minions.
You don't have to choose with warlock, the class received broken after broken card one after another, why so pathetic weak DK for warrior, a dead class completely unplayable garbage.
Although I think Scourgelord Garrosh could be played a lot more if warrior was a more viable class, I do think that his hero power can be really annoying that you can no longer gain armor. I love Warrior, it's one of my favorite classes. What I don't love is not being able to gain armor as one, that's what Warrior is all about! I think maybe they could change the hero power to: Deal one damage to two target creatures, gain 2 armor. That's seems much more in the Warrior play style.
you would think his hero power is garbage until you run into a dead man's hand shuffling executes
Plz play deadman hand, my Rin is laughing lol. And deadman hand is actually a saving grace for the DK , without deadman hand put more execute and sleep of the fish in the deck, the hero power will be even more useless. Even that can help you win control matchup vs warlock, or too slow vs deck like tempo secret mage or spiteful priest.

The Whirlwind hero power is almost useless in the late game imo

I think I made the poll multiple choice and i don't know how to change it lol. Editing it doesn't work :(
You didn't get it, it's for Blood Warrior archetype.

Why lose armor up?

Imo lifesteal doesn't fit the warrior theme. That's more a rogue or warlock thing

I think I know what I'm talking about.

Warrior DK is total garbage, especially the hero power
at least keep the 2 armor up with the whirlwind
The weapon he gains is nasty, though. A lot of times it's 3 dead minions with one attack.
I think he would be pretty good if Warrior had much better cards overall, specially against aggro.
Or maybe the Whirlwind could give 1 Armor for every minion hit, like an Armorsmith, but also counting enemies.
Or like Rexxar, Garrosh could be focused to forge custom weapons.
