I play Doomsayer nearly in every Priest Control Deck, its amazing & so usefull, not only vs aggro, even in control matchups its a key card a can turn the whole Game in some cases
Long time Freeze Mage player here. Doomsayer should not be rotated out. Its a well designed card. Its one of the few solid counters to aggro. Awhile ago Zoo even ran Crazed Alchemist which is a direct counter to Doomsayer . If you hate doomsayer that much well then that sucks for you. Doomsayer gives control decks a slight chance versus aggro. Even paladin and Hunter decks can easily kill it with Stampeding Kodo . Aggro decks arent designed to win every game.
You realise that you are extremely biased since you play a lot of Freeze Mage and obviously don't want a key card to leave? Everyone else would be fine with Doomsayer rotating out and just because it has counters, doesn't mean it is healthy or should be evergreen.
Yea I might be a bit biased. But took aggro druid to 5 before the expansion. Yea i saw doomsayer and it cant always be dealt with. I dont think its so overpowered it needs to be rotated. Sometimes it can be dealt with and sometimes it cant be.
It should absolutely go to HOF. This coming from someone who crafted two of them. This card should never have been a neutral. Name another neutral core 2 drop with such an impact on the meta.
Core neutral cards that cast powerful spells are legendary, or high cost.
Its a cool well designed card, but it doesn't belong in the core set and will limit future design.
He should only rotate if he can be replaced by something else. Even now when I look at the HTC lineup,so many guys bring Control Paladin with two Doomsayers, because there's no better choice.
HEEEEELLLLLLLLL NO. It's one of the few good neutral anti aggro tools, and sometimes it's still not good enough. This card should not be rotated out until they provide us a similar power anti aggro tool
Pretty much this. Would be devestating for control decks. Although I wish he was banned from showing up during Evolve/Devolve.
He used to show up so much more from Piloted Shredder, but i rarely see him from Evolve/Devolve. In fact, I pray for it a lot of the time, and I have only seen it maybe 3-4 times in a few hundred games against evolve shaman.

Quit complaining and just have fun with this game!
Yeah I think so, like you said the 'staple' cards that have been used in a million decks since the beginning of time should be rotated every once in awhile just to incentivize more deckbuilding possibilities.
we can't just rotate every strong classic card out of the game. Hall of fameis for cards that limit design space because a) they would make certain combos too broken, which would prevent interesting cards to be printed (remember ice Lance) or b) if they are so efficient in their mana slot that there is no real cahnce of any new card in the same mana slot ever surpassing or replacing them (Ragnaros, Azure Drake).
Doomsayer's only qualification is that he keeps aggressive decks down (which really isn't a bad thing) If anything, combos like Freeze + doomsayer MIGHT be considered a problem, but then again, Doomsayer does have an easily accquired CLASSIC counter which is Crazed Alchemist.
In other words, rotating doomsayer would be pointless and would only ruin future control decks

Doomsayer is not the only thing that enables control decks. I've had success versus aggro with many anti aggro decks and rarely if ever need to use doomsayers in order to do it. The state of mind that "Blizzard can't do xyz or the game is RUINED" is a terrible way to look at the game imo. The futures way more fun if you're looking forward to possibilities rather than living in fear of them.
Eh... I'd rather leave a few staples in the decks, so that way the classes still feel like they do now.
Problematic staples like Innervate, on the other hand, should definitely be rotated so the design space isn't limited and we don't get another card Warsong Commander'd.
(For those that don't know, Warsong Commander read "Whenever you summon a minion with 3 or less Attack, give it Charge." prior to the last nerf it got)
No, we don't need to rotate every single fu**ing card from the classic and basic set that is commonly used in decks....
What exactly is the end-game of this never ending whining about nerfing and moving classic cards to HoF? For there to be not a single competitive card in the classic set?
of course, every hearthstone player should smorc safely. that's what hearthstone means to some players.
in this meta, do you really encounter mage? ice block, ice block, ice block! how many times will you mention it in hof whining threads. reno jackson was a thing that can heal you multiple times by returning to your hand. but if someone complained about it, some game experts would declare that only aggro players complain about reno because reno decks are so wow much skillful etc. but really why the fuck control players bitch about ice block! you play a deck full of tech cards. if you don't bother to add an amazing anti-secret card to your decks, please shut the fuck up!
hall of fame is not for removing all useful classic and basic cards.
Doomsayer doesn't need rotating out. It's simply one, not particularly powerful, neutral tool do get something done. Much like Spellbreaker, the Oozes, and Loot Hoarder.
Meta-defining - WTF how is that? I can't remember Doomsayer being part of any Tier 1 deck... name one? Meta-defining to the extent that Pirate Warrior and Aggro Druid (and Aggro Shaman and Face Hunter and...) are/were top tier decks despite Doomsayer? What are you lot smoking?
I just went through the entire neutral core set, and the two standout cards that are 'not like all the others' are Doomsayer and Auctioneer. I'd say they are both strong candidate for rotation.
Both are cool, good cards, and I run them in various decks, but they do limit the way standard can evolve. Should be class cards IMHO.
I am playing Aggro/Midrange decks most of the time, so facing Doomsayer is always a bummer for me, however I think it's one of the most balanced cards in the game. It is a really good defensive tool for control decks and still it is not unbeatable. In fact, many times it gets removed, silenced. It can soak 7 damage at least which is good. Pushing it to the Hall of Fame would create an empty space in the meta, and that empty space would have been filled by another future card which might won't be this balanced.

Doomsayer is almost only good early game anti-aggro option. No way it should rotate out.

I hope it will always be part of the basic set
The doomsayer has been validated.

If there were more cheap, neutral and varied anti-aggro board clear options, sure rotate him. But otherwise, hell no.
Rotate? No way, he should be buffed to 0/10.

Naw man warlocks JUST got trechery, the perfect combo for effective mid game wipes that sets up the control game

This space intentionally left blank.
