Are you high on drugs? Doomsayer? Of all the cards that could rotate, you pick that one. Wait, you are comparing Doomsayer to the Azure Drake ? And then suggesting that Corrupting Mist could ever see play?
Doomsayer should stay. Its not in every deck, and I dont think its terribly overpowered. Sure it wipes out a board, but it can also be killed or silenced. Its also one hell of a anti agro card, remember one of the strengths of agro decks is that they can repopulate a board quickly. So it is not an automatic win condition if you play it.
Doomsayer fits in a niche that only it fills. Anyone who compares it to Azure Drake forgets that the reason drake was rotated was because it was constricting the five drop slot. Any five drop had to be compared to drake, and if it wasn't better you played drake over it. Doomsday on the other hand is does not constrict the two drop slot.
Also you could jam two drakes into any deck and it was fine. Doomsday is played in specific decks for a specific reason.
Ahh Doomsayer, the biggest hole in my collection. I've been thinking of breaking me "Legendaries only" crafting rule for this stupid card - and if I do, that means for sure it will hit the Hall of Fame. I don't particularly like the card, but I suppose it's the sort of card the game needs to have around, though the extra value mage receives from it makes it seem worse, just like everything else mages do.
I actually think something's going down with Ice Block soon - I think the Frost Lich Jaina idea is to push a different sort of Freeze Mage, one based on Lifestealing away from lethal, rather than just freeze-stall-block-freeze-stall -facefaceface.
No how about rotating out iceblock, savage roar, murlock warleader these are the cards causeing problems. Why would you want to rotate out a card that has "had its day in the sun".Doomsayer barely is able to hold its own on turn 3 because of all the little buffs and minions that are on the board by then.Besides you sound like you play zoo or pirate warrior.
Doomsayer should absolutely rotate out, since its just the easy option and often better then playing class specific removal (which is shit most of the time sadly). Its the same reason why Azure Drake had to go, because every Control deck (and even some Midrange decks from time to time) that didn't already had a good answer to Aggro, just slots in two Doomsayers. Corrupting Mist would see play if Doomsayer rotated out, but until then there is no reason to play it.
To be fair the entire Classic set should rotate out at some point (not Basic) and there should be a Core set (basically Basic set with more cards).
so... the classic set. you're really a bright one.
Did someone really compare doomsayer to azure drake? There is big difference in these two, pretty mutch only control decks run doomsayer and most of the time against aggro decks even turn 2 doomsayer dont clear up the board. Azure drake was so popular that pretty mutch every deck use him, azure was play even aggro decks because it was just so good.
They rotated out other cards because they limited design space. Frostbolt+Ice Lance for a 3 mana 7 damage combo pushed out other cards, like Pyroblast, which is finally seeing normal and consistent play in control mage decks. Conceal was too powerful to stay in rotation forever. Sylvanas and Ragnaros both limited design space and were far better than their peers at their mana cost without really any negative tradeoffs. Azure Drake was always overpowered because it for only one mana more than Ogre Magi, you got the same card plus the ability to draw a card and use Dragon synergy. Doomsayer isn't overpowered, pushing other cards out that fill the same purpose or limiting card design space. So, no, it shouldn't imo.
doomsayer is a card that is situationally played in slow decks, generally those focused around a specific combo or otk that takes a while to get to and pull off. I can't think of a time when doomsayer was played in a strong deck in a meta, when it was not in a combo deck.
It does not support control because it is a dead draw in a control v control game often, you can't play it with anything, it basically is an auto pass for both players when you are in control v control. combo wants that because it needs all the time it can get, control wants to gain an advatage, and doomsayer is not that. At best it resets the board at worst it heals for 7 but lets the opponent snowball an advantage further.
I would not be surprised if blizzard rotated it, because it basically only hurts combo decks, and they don't care about those being weak, but many people would be very annoyed because anyone who plays combo decks would not have the option to play them, unless they were more like quest rogue than freeze mage or murloc otk paladin.

Just fill your deck with one drops, that is creative deck design, right?
Yeah because aggro has no way to deal 7 damage to a minion in one turn. I've played the game at all levels and i don't see this in every control deck. Its not that prevalent. Its not an auto include, much unlike Azure Drake and Power Overwhelming.

No, the Classic set has extremely toxic cards that partly rotated out already. The Core set should just have Class defining cards like Wrath, Quartermaster and SI:7 Agent, that are just as important to the Classes they are in as Fireball for Mage. Cards like Tirion Fordring will just pigeonhold Paladin for ever just like Ragnaros the Firelord screwed 8-drops. They aren't healthy for the game to keep evergreen and aren't part of the basic concepts of the class.
Tirion is actually a bad example considering unlike drake, it doesn't force you to just run it over other 8 drops. You run it alongside other 8 drops, like Lightlord, Medivh if you wanna go that route, Primordial Drake, and now Lich King. That's not even counting the spells Lay on Hands or Dinosize which are both potentially powerful cards they can run. Paladin has plenty of cards they can use alongside or (rarely) even in place of Tirion.

I'm here to kick ass and play cards, and I'm all out of ass.
I'd say doomsayer is more played in slow decks that don't have any, or very few, natural early board clears. Like control paladin, Mage ofc, some warlocks pre-ungoro.
I'd rather see them get more class specific cards to cover that hole than a neutral.
Long time Freeze Mage player here. Doomsayer should not be rotated out. Its a well designed card. Its one of the few solid counters to aggro. Awhile ago Zoo even ran Crazed Alchemist which is a direct counter to Doomsayer . If you hate doomsayer that much well then that sucks for you. Doomsayer gives control decks a slight chance versus aggro. Even paladin and Hunter decks can easily kill it with Stampeding Kodo . Aggro decks arent designed to win every game.
Doomsayer should absolutely not be rotated. It is a key card for some control and combo decks, and it's perfectly fine as is. It's a great design, a true classic. Few more cards that people used to mention, and should not be rotated:
Leeroy. Never. Another true classic card, IMO, if people want to play control and combo decks, they should be allowed to, hence Doomsayer. If people want to SMOrc, they should be given a chance - hence Leeroy. Since Bliz decided not to go overboard on powerful charge minions anymore, Leeroy is really necessary. And it's not like many people run the card anyway.
Auctioneer. Sure, can be abused in Jade Druid. But it's a rogue classic, has been nerfed once anyway, and it should simply be changed to Rogue class card. That's all. It gives rogue a unique identity - draw cards, play combos. Who wants to play a midrange Rogue anyway? Come on.
If anything needs to be rotated, it's Ice Block. Give mage a new card, say Mana Shield, that grants X armor for healing purposes, so they can play control if they want. Block is getting old, and I am one guilty of abusing 3 blocks per match because of Glyph. That should never happen. Just develop something new for Mages.

You realise that you are extremely biased since you play a lot of Freeze Mage and obviously don't want a key card to leave? Everyone else would be fine with Doomsayer rotating out and just because it has counters, doesn't mean it is healthy or should be evergreen.
What do you mean everyone else? I never play freeze mage and I don't see any reason whatsoever to have it removed.

Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.

If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.

Doomsayer didn't see play ever during gvg era outside of freeze mage
Most of people that hate Doomsayer are aggro players who got rekt turn 2 because they used coin as pw to play 3 pirates.
A second guess is that aggro players overexted with a false hope of a turn 5 bloodlust, which then doomsayer and frost nova shut down immediately.
In both situations you deserved it,and doomsayer is a fine card.

Wow, I had no idea there was doomsayer hate out there. Too many idiots play this game
