Horrible card...it's 2 mana deal 2 damage and if you want to activate the poison you have to sack two of your cards to kill one of theirs. Because of having to deal 2 damage that means you can't use tokens as well. Trash tier.
This card is utter garbage, I legit don't understand why some people can actually think otherwise. 2 mana deals 2 damage to a minion is already really bad. Arcane Shot is strickly better, Quick Shot was strickly better. But the poisonous effect is just as useless. I mean you are gonna spend 2 mana on a 3+ health minion to then trade it into a bigger one? For 1 mana you can do the same with Hunter's Mark and sometimes you don't even need a minion with 3+ health on board to make it work.
Let's assume you want to kill a big minion. The great majority of time in Hearthstone, big minions have about 8 health. In order to use this card, you need a 3+ health minon, which is usually a midrange minion. Thus, you'll usually need to deal 4-5 additonal damage to take down this big minion. Well, good news, dealing 4 damage to a minion is called Flamecannon and it costs 2 mana. This card is almost always worst than Flamecannon. It deals only 2 damage or requires you to have a 3+ mana minion on board.
Not only this card should cost 1 mana, but Blizzard actually made sure that you couldn't combo it with cards like Pyromancer, Dreadscale or the new Exploding Bloatbat for a boardclear. Ironically, had the card dealt only 1 damage, it would have been playable and very interesting for Control Hunter. The combos wouldn't have been broken in any way since Paladins already have a 4 mana combo with pyromancer+Equality.
The "flexibility" if you want to call that doesn't justify the cost and use.
arcane shot and quick shot are not strictly better...
This seems really garbage for 2 mana. It's inefficient as early removal and it's inefficient as late removal since you need to 2-for-1 with a 3-health minion. It's quite interesting for control combos though, such as with Baron Geddon, but a control Hunter will never be a thing until it has access to good healing.
WHY must it deal two damage!? If it dealt 1 damage it could be a Wild Pyromancer + Toxic Arrow board clear for Hunter! Now it kills both Wild Pryomancer and Dreadscale.
I think you guys are looking at the card the wrong way. I mean, I agree that the card won't see play in constructed, and also won't be amazing in arena(probably around 60-65 points in heartharena, decreasing in value if you already have a hunter's mark and/or arcane shot in the deck), but it's much better than you are making it out to be.
Rather than look at it as a "worse arcane shot" or "worse hunter's mark" think about it like this:
-early game, it trades evenly with a 3/2, which you often spend a frostbolt on(decent trade)
-mid/late game, you can use it as a tempo play, in the same way you would use a hunter's mark, albeit being more situational(due to requiring the trading minion to have at least 3 health) and for one more mana.
So while the card can be viewed as either a worse arcane shot, or a worse hunter's mark, the fact that it gives you the flexibility to choose between the effects actually makes the card better than what it may seem, you won't feel bad about drawing it either early, or in the late game.
I mean, demonfire is a card people often choose in arena, and I would argue that this card is way better than it.
Execute costs 2 as well, and the requirement is pretty similar to Toxic Arrow if you think about it.
The massive deference between Execute and Toxic Arrow is that Execute works off a shit ton more things and will almost never be a dead card.
If your opponent trades into your minions, you can Execute theirs. If you're using Whirlwind effects, you can Execute anything. If you run a Low Attack minion into their minion, you can Execute it.
Toxic Arrow only removes a minion if you have a 3+ Health minion and are going to trade while it has Poisonous, or the minion you want to kill has 2 Health.
Hunter's Mark is a shit card and shouldn't be mentioned in this thread.
Hunter's Mark is a great card in a ton of Hunter decks and is better than Toxic Arrow in a majority of situations because it doesn't require your minion to have 3+ Health for it to trade into something and kill it.
Both above changes would have given hunter a decent board clear with pyro/nzoth's tentacle. This was a huge opportunity for Blizzard to finally set Control Hunter in the right direction but it looks like they have failed us again.
I believe this card has pyro/equallity type synergies with cards like abomination and unstable groul if you play wild... I made a control hunter long ago which was fine but with these new combos it could really peek! #exited for control hunter
The card is worse than arcane shot and hunter's mark but has the ability to do both and the cost is for that flexibility. I see what they're trying to do but sadly the historical trends show these types of cards not to be displayed TOO much. There are a few cases like wrath where the choose effects of 2 weak cards make one good card so it's not totally hopeless. The real problem is the poison killing effect is much much weaker than hunter's mark which greatly hinders the control possibilities of the card.

You can Exploding Bloatbat and then Crackling Razormaw to give it Divine Shield. Then you Toxic Arrow and trade.
Sure its flexible, but its not really the flexibility hunter needs, even if it was a control class.

I'm sad. This card would actually be cool if it only did 1 damage. (Wild Pyro+Toxic Arrow)
The fuck?
Surely Highmane already has enough attack and does not need poisonous. This is only good on minions with 3 health or not much higher and low attack
one of the worst cards ever! Why hunter can't have pyromancer equality effect?
Arcane Shot just does 2 damage. Toxic Arrow kills a minion. Big difference.

RIP hunter board clear dream.
i think explosive bat is worst hunter card in this xpac but im speechless after see this card
2 mana deal 2 dmg is terrible,no one will use this
about poisonous part,it only work on 3 health minion but if you have a minion on board and want remove big enemy why not use hunter mark ?
well,at least 100 dust still useful

This card is obviously made to be a bad card.
Either change it from 2 to 1 damage to a minion
Or
Give poisonous regardless of whether it survives

If pyro had 3 hp...
lol literally change it to 1 damage and it's an incredible card. pretty useless as is.
