I think they're way over valuing life steal. It's worth at most half a mana (depending on the size of the body). This card is 2 mana understated if not more.
First, I think lifesteal is an effect that actually increases in mana value dependent on the body. This is currently the highest base stated lifesteal minion I believe.
Also if this is overstated, at MOST it's by 1. 3 mana 4/4s generally have downsides, this would just be broken as shit at 3.
Yes, because a minion costing one more mana than it is actually worth barely makes a difference right?
You are correct in saying the card would be busted at 3 mana(would still be even without LS), but it also still wouldn't be good at 4. IMO they should have just made it a 3 mana 3/3.
I dunno what point you are trying to argue against here. The only statement I made was that this shit was busted at 3, which you agreed with. The first part of my post was only to theorize on how blizzard balances out lifesteal/manacost/stats.
I have no idea how good this card is and that is because I have no idea for certain how good lifesteal will be. But here is how I look at it.
If we look at a taunt minion, say a 1/5, we can effectively view that minion as preventing five damage to face. Of course barring removal, I am referring to trading only. Essentially that 1/5 represent five health at least. Now, if we give that 1/5 lifesteal as well, It represents at least 6 Health points with the possibility of more if multiple trades need to happen or if it goes unanswered.
Now if we take taunt out of the picture we still essentially have a minion with soft taunt. Lifesteal isn't an effect most will want let sick around and will generally, not always of course, prompt the opponent to deal with. So looking at Bloodworm, it can actually represent 8 health from just hitting the board. 4 point heal from being traded into AND preventing at least 4 damage to face. As the toughness and attack power of a lifesteal creature goes up so does it's perceived mana worth in a slightly exponential fashion as unanswered life steal is represents a ton of health and answered lifesteal (in regards to trading) still represents a lot of health.
However, the reason why I am not terribly sure it's going to be super good or not is that when dealing with removal, suddenly the exponential cost of the creature is extremely punishing. So if an opponent doesn't trade and just removes it, it's real bad. This is why I think Chillblade Champion is good and potentially VERY good. You get to guarntee the lifegain and perhaps even trade into and kill something. Take into account hand buffs or just straight up buffs and Chillblade could get some serious work done.
But I digress. What I am saying is that lifesteal is potentially very powerful, but has a huge weakness in removal. Since removal is run with far less regularity in aggro decks and far more regularity in control, lifesteal strikes me as this sets main anti aggro tool and why we can't necessarily sleep on any lifesteal card, even this one, even though it looks like garbage (and probably is).
I think this card is the underrated card of the set. Mainly because if you pair it with corpsetaker it's 4 lifesteal minions in a deck. That's a LOT of heal.

And don't forget we got Bonemare now to buff it for everyclasses that struggles with life total.
Better than Prince Valanar.
Prince Valanar is only better than this card in Rogue.
Check out my entry for this week's Card Design Competition. Vote for it if you like it.
I think if this is run it will be mainly in conjuntion with corpstaker, because corpstaker ends up being that good.
If Hunter(or Warlock) plays this on 5 and it draws a hard removal that is a win. Other classes have better heal options imo
