Will say that if the meta does slow down like it feels like the game could be heading, Thoughtsteal was great against CW Warrior so this could be good but have a feeling Control Priest would just run that and not this new version.
The continual theme of stealing crap is getting very old. Basically puts them into the catch-22 that if you design an abundance of triggering steal cards, they have to be unplayable in any competitive deck because they're so un-fun to play against. Let's see high health buffs, silence, resurrect - actual healthy and viable stuff.
It's hilarious how Blizz works. This is like priest's version of Thistle Tea. Nobody played Thistle Tea so Blizz added Mimic Pod which saw play because it was cheaper for a slightly reduced effect. Now they're going backward by creating this when Thoughtsteal already sees little play.
What is this Blizz! You lied to me. You told us that we will get Shadow priest support and not even a single card is released that supports Shadow priest. You are just showing us copy Trash which we know can never be competitive, it's just for f2p. You have not released a Shadow priest card since ages and you think just 1 card in this set can bring it back?
along with this, priest can almost steal a complete deck from their opponent before playing Archbishop. Streamers are going to have fun with this build.
Also, priest did not need another steal card.

Nowhere did Blizzard ever mention anything about supporting Shadow Priests. Those are your own personal speculations, nothing more.
Though yeah, this card seems really bad for the same reasons you posted.
Somewhere... Maybe in the reveal stream? They said the Priest Death knight would make shadow priests happy... Of course that could mean anything... maybe because he's dark? Who knows if it actually has any synergy with shadow priest, The guy who said it is the "flavor" designer, so He doesn't necesarily know a lot about how decks are competitive... That's for the final designers to set up.

That's what the comics and the art suggests. The other classes have lived up to the comic and art(Shaman is getting Freeze as evident in the first image posted by blizzard which featured all Heroes as Death Knights, Hunters are getting Zombeasts, Druids are getting Insects and Board floods, etc)
The only reason I find about all those steal your opponent cards is that probably the DK Hero Power can be something that will make a hugh cost reduction to them. Otherwise it's just an awful design choice for the entire Class that will be stucked to Un'goro utilities until the next expansion set after KotFT.

For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?

The more Priest cards get revealed, the more I realize Blizzard has absolutely no clue what they're doing with the Priest class.
We literally just got terrible reprints of Prince Malchezaar, Mind Control, and Thoughtsteal this expansion.

CCGing since '98.
Yogg-Saron, Hope's End is getting a lot of spells with no downsides.
So from now on all games vs priests will be considered mirrors.
purely worse version of thoughtsteal?
wtf???

get shit on, priests.. apparently
f u blizz
Its a weaker Nourish or an over-costed Thoughtsteal or a weaker Cabalist's Tome.
Anyway you look at it this card sucks.
You know shit's bad when you miss Midrange Shaman.
well maybe the hero card and every single card they have not revealed will be good for shadow priest. Maybe.
Just fill your deck with one drops, that is creative deck design, right?
the meme and tilt decks are incoming!

Looks like this expansion Priests will be getting no new cards. They will have to play their opponent's cards. :(
Check out my entry for this week's Card Design Competition. Vote for it if you like it.
A filler spell.

For me Thoughtsteal is still better. In 6 mana you can play 2 of them which is = to 4 cards vs 5 Mana Mind Robber 3 cards.
I like shenanigans, but this is really uninspiring.
Put it in the deck? probably not. Getting it from lyra? I would be fine, still better than Purify.
