Love this expansion. The community has been going nuts after the last couple days of reveals. So triggered, so hype, all at once.
Well done Blizz.
This card is bad. Ancient Shade never saw play (which will be an approximate typical stat line for this card, +4 - +1), neither will this. Kor'kron Elite is just too good at what it does.
I was thinking 'How many stats can I get on average from the card' and I started thinking Pirate Warrior and Pirate Rogue. After that I realized... we can ignore the pirate tag and just look at weapons! We can create some rather interesting cards and as much as folks are gonna jump on the meme of "4 mana 7/7", yes. It is in fact possible to create a 7/7 on turn 4 with this card! But...
All of this is irrelevant because Golakka Crawler exists. The ONLY way this card sees any amount of play is if it answers yes to this question: "Is the card explosive enough that Pirate Warrior, a deck that runs so fast that it doesn't care if you kill a pirate even more so since you probably already used the card... will it run it?"
The problem isn't Pirate Warrior. There's tons of cards that allow us to deal with it but the problem card is Golakka Crawler because ... why would I ever run this if the value from it would be essentially to give my opponent a 2 mana 3/4...?
The only alternative is to kill 'em before that even matters and that's why Golakka Crawler has killed the entire tribe from being something more interesting and uniquely related to weapons than 'How fast can I kill you?'... this card would be decent if that piece of shite design fuckery didn't exist.
All of this can be traced back to how degenerate and foul Pirate Warrior is. Before Golakka Crawler came about, facing a Pirate Warrior was pretty much game over for any deck other than another Super Fast Aggro Go Face Screw Trading Deck.
Whilst I see your point about Golakka Crawler screwing with game space, it was something born out of necessity. If Blizzard hadn't have printed cards like Patches the Pirate then they wouldn't have had to put up with so much bitching from the player base, forcing them to do something to try and stem the tide.
Without Pirate Warrior existing, a card like this would have had more of a chance. As it is, it's never going to see play. Shame.
Pretty much, Pirate Warrior needed a counter and there is Golakka Crawler / Gluttonous Ooze but unfortunately this limits other classes to use Pirates as well because none is resilient as PW is.
Of all the decks needing help I never thought they would release a card to the epidemic that is Pirate Warrior. Plz may my assumption about this card be wrong... *cry
Well, opposed to the common believe that this card will be OP in pirate warrior I think there is a chance that it probably won't even make the cut. On turn 4 pirate already has korkron, mortal strike and naga corsair. All of those give you immediate facevalue and your opponent gets pressure from two sources (damage/threats on board) and has a hard time to do something against the board and heal as well.
This new card on the other hand lets them catch a breath because it can't immediately do something. Now don't get me wrong...if this monstrosity connects face it will probably spell doom for your opponent, just remember you open yourself up to more counterplay if you include it.
However, this card might be able to spawn a midrange deck for rogue if the weapon love will continue to be rogues main theme this expansion (probably not but...hey there is still a chance)
Hey, take it easy there, we already got a decent weapon this expansion, will have to wait for the next one for some cool buffs xD
Wow, I someone tricked myself into thinking that it's stats just became equal to your weapon. Wtf, are they just planning on nerfing PW already and they just don't care or what?
I think this is a pretty big win more card for PW. If everything is going swimmingly, this curves from Cultist into a 8/6 or something for 4 and you have board because of your weapons and your opponent goes to hearthpwn and makes a nerf thread for this card. However, it seems like PW would already win that game without this, and this card can be really bad in a lot of hands. Weapon gets destroyed? It sucks. Draw it later in the game?Dont draw a weapon? (PW plays Naga Corsair with no weapon all the time) It sucks. Dont have board? Just a hunk of stats that doesnt effect the board the turn its played.

No it can't.
Golakka Crawler was a card that was put into the game due to excessive vocal stupidity... and the evidence of this can be tracked down to one very simple thing: it was put into Journey to Un'goro at a late stage of development. It didn't exist as a stable and well thoughout idea... it hadn't had the time to explore the different possiblities one could've done with the card, it was purely put in there to sate the number of people that were moaning about how warrior had gone from the most delaying of control warrior to that of an aggressive deck.
That's it.
It wasn't born out of necessity and even if it was, that's still a bloody piss poor excuse! We have Tar Creeper, we have Fire Fly, Wickerflame Burnbristle, etc.; these are great ways to stifle early aggression without killing off tribes needlessly.
Pirates aren't dead because of Pirate Warrior, Pirates actually thrive because of it because it proves that you can't do anything about it... you can't steer it into a different direction than that of an aggressive deck currently because there's no point to it. The reason why Pirate Warrior thrives is because of an EXCEPTIONALLY stupid and exceedingly verbal minority who demand it to die without thinking for more than a half a second.
Every single one of the pirates they have printed have been good for the game, even Patches the Pirate and Small-Time Buccaneer (after the nerf to it). So no... this card is dead, folks blame pirate warrior when in reality its due to folks being massively stupid idiots. (Please note this tho', I am not saying that you are stupid I am simply mad at how stupid people are who spout things randomly because folks like Kripp says something without thinking what they are saying...)
I think Golakka Crawler is pretty bad design card just like Hungry Crab but it was needed and even then it was not enough to stop the PW rush, again proving to be a completely "fair" deck.
Not that great in Pirate Warrior since they often won't have a weapon (or a significant one) on turn 4. You want to use this with a cheap high-durability weapon like Obsidian Shard, or Sword of Justice. It's a strong card, but it takes a very specific deck to make use of it.
This is a midrange card not an aggro one so calm down this will not see play in pirate warrior.
However people who recall dragon/midrange warrior might see this card there.
But also rogue/paladin with 3/2 weapon into this as a 4 mana 6/4....hm kinda sounds underwhelmin as i write this down, maybe this is just not good enough after all.
I like how it's somewhere between Bloodsail Raider and Luckydo Buccaneer. It's not a broken card that you slot in any weapon deck but one you have to plan around. I will definitely be running this in weapon buff rogue decks in some capacity even if it's just a one-of.
It looks stronger than it actually is it's a 4mana Bloodsail Raider which ain't that great to be honest.
A lot of times this will be something like a delayed 7/5 which ain't even good, if it was Pirate Warrior would be running Ancient Shade, unlikely Pirate Warrior even runs this...I know i won't be.

awesome art not bad for a prirate

so this is another step toward pirate being zoo and not face, of course that has been more and more true over the course of ungoro.
Just fill your deck with one drops, that is creative deck design, right?

I think Kokron and spellbreaker are stronger for PW, but it might open the door for a more mid-range pirate build... esp in wild.
powerful card, gonna give me headache but i like it.
need take time to make new pic and signature using the new cards.
This card is unlikely to find its way into Pirate Warrior decks.

It adds the stats. So if you have gorehowl equipped it is 10/4.
