Okay, first of all - it's not a bad, it's very situational.
You don't play it at turn 7, it has the use in Fatigue decks, mostly. Body is terrible for the mana cost, but it can effectively add several cards to your pool at the end of the game - you rarely even have what you need in the deck at the end of the game. Last 5 cards are very often dead draws or low-cost stuff you didn't draw into earlier, etc, etc.
Archbishop Benedictus at least gives you the option to draw some more, and - you can very well estimate which cards will be making a cut. Did the opponent already use 2 of theirs X card? Guess what, you won't have it as it's not in theirs deck anymore. This is obviously slightly pointless info in most of the games, but very helpful in Control matchups when you keep track of your opponent's played cards.
What I think? Just wait. I'm not convinced it will be a meta-changer, nor that it's trash. I have a feeling it will become extremely valuable in Control matchups, if the meta slows enough to allow it.
As a main Priest player I am very disappointed. For now we still have good legendaries but when they rotate out we will be stuck with this.... The effect is epic but that's about it. Nobody will use this on high level in constructed, that's for sure.
When what rotates out? Raza? That's the only Priest legendary that's rotating out next year. Lyra will still be here and so will the next legendary, and so will Velen. Priest doesn't have a problem with the next rotation.
Adding Velen to your post doesn't really help making your point. I haven't seen a single person playing Velen in the last 1.5 years now... I meant in the long run. In 2 years you won't have Lyra anymore. So there are no class legendaries that will be played by Priest, unless the other legendary is really good or the ones in the next expansions will be. But that's information we don't have yet, so can't talk about those.
Something never change. People cried before Un'Goro Launch over the Rogue Quest how bad and insulting it is and after the expansion they cried over the Rogue Quest again how OP it is.
so everyone who reads this should consider this and don't listen to much on opinions, because most of the people (also Streamer or some pros) don't know how to evaluate cards.
There are only two people I trust for card reviews and they were Brian Kibler and Noxious. Noxious no longer does Hearthstone, but he was always good about talking about the potential of a card and never saying definitively if it was good or bad. Kibler on the other hand seems to have a good eye for what is and isn't good. His background in card design really helps in this regard. He's a bit too memey to really take at face value, but if he says something is definitely good, I tend to listen.
Agreed. Noxious and Lifecoach invested lot how to make cards working. I miss noxious' videos.
I like the full picture. The more opinions we hear the better. Gaaras youtube channel is also worth checking out.
yeah this is terrible and will ruin your deck... but it is also a lot of fun!
So i like it
I feel that'll end up being a misconception. It has the illusion that it'll be fun simply because we've never seen a card that has text like this before. However, I have a feeling that once people actually start playtesting Archbishop Benedictus and realize that they just spent 7 mana on a 4/6 with no immediate effect, then on the followup turns start drawing trash that doesn't synergize at all with their own deck, they'll realize that it's not actually fun at all.
This card is a much worse Renounce Darkness. That card was fun. Sure, it was bad and silly but you could play it early enough and it had the benefit of at least giving your new stuff discounts. But this...thing? First you'll have to actually make it to turn 7. Then, if you can manage to survive that long, you have to be in a position where you can afford to throw your entire Turn 7 away on what is essentially a 4 drop. And even then, I still don't see him being fun to play. I'm not sure why any priest would want to pollute their deck with warrior or shaman cards or any other classes for that matter. This card is bad for the same reason Prince Malchezaar is bad and will be about as much fun to play. At least Malch has on curve stats going for him.
So, in short, sorry druids. But I just don't want to draw your Jade Blossoms and Innervates on Turn 8+.
What part of this is NOT a turn 7 card is hard to understand, This is a Yogg NOT a Renounce Darkness or Prince Malchezaar, Renounce Darkness is random cards like cards that buff totems, Cards that buff silver hand recruits, Shield Slams, Completely useless cards however this card gives you cards that player has put in their deck and last time i checked players dont put junk cards in their decks so its in no way Renounce Darkness, Nor is it Prince Malchezaar since one is one card in 30 that you choose when you play and if you play it at all the other is 6 cards in your deck from the start ruining your synergy from the start.
This card is just a Yogg for a minion heavy deck, My Lyra priest runs Yogg because it gives me a chance to win games that are otherwise lost, Yes that is the only time i play Yogg, When the game is already lost and maybe just maybe i get some insane comeback from Yogg and i win from it, Benedictus is that only for a minion heavy deck like Dragon Priest for example, Its one card i would replace for example Curious Glimmerroot with Benedictus tech for tech, I would play it exactly like i play any other dragon priest and if i have no other outs in my deck and the game is lost without a answer i will drop Benedictus and hope i get something from my opponents final 5 or so cards, If i dont get something im in the same position if i do get something i just won a game that was otherwise lost and just like Yogg if i dont need it, I dont play it and it does not screw my synergy in anyway that Glimmeroot would since neither are dragons.
You ask when anyone would want to "polute" their deck with Warrior or Shaman cards, Well when i have 5 cards left in my deck and i know not a single one of them can turn a game around, I would like 5+ cards from my opponent and maybe get a win condition from them, Maybe i get a bloodlust from a shaman and win the game right away, Maybe i get a execute from a warrior kill his final taunt and win the game, Maybe i get a pyroblast from a mage and win the game, But heres the kicker...............If i dont get any of those ive lost nothing because i knew when i played Benedictus i had nothing in my deck to win the game anyway so i've got nothing to lose and everything to gain, Seeing this as a turn 7 play is where you logic is flawed, This is a card you play when you have no other outs or i guess for fatigue too seeing it as a turn 7 play is like saying Yogg is a turn 10 card regardless of the state of the game or how many cards you cast its just not what the cards are made for.
38% even believe this is meta-defining. Oh boy... Sure, it will be fun to play for a few hours. This is a card like Explore Un'Goro, Prince Malchezaar or Renounce Dankness. It will see play for a week. After that only Savj and maybe Toast will dare play this.
Interesting idea that will get completely lost on page twelve: Why not treat this card as a pseudo Entomb? Remember when control priest was a deck that played with no win condition against other control decks but just stole two of them off of the opponent? I could see this being something like that though I'm not sure how a control mirror would honestly go. It's obviously less reliable than entomb but also more proactive. If you're playing a control mirror and your opponent's strong minions are at the very bottom of his deck then this allows you the possibility of scooping them out of there first. With Entomb you'd just be staring at each other for 8 turns of nothing potentially. Not sure though I guess we'll have to playtest
TL;DR theory is you build a priest deck that absolutely crushes aggro decks and play this card to make sure you don't get destroyed by midrange or other control decks who opt to include more game winning cards like Ysera in them.
I love priest... which is why it pains me that this card is so awful :/.
I mean.... why would you actually ever want this effect? You destroy any synergy in your deck, and it should be abundantly clear by this point that fatigue isn't ever going to happen reliably.
This just feels like a waste of a card... unless there is something else in the set that really lets you abuse the effect somehow. And to add insult to injury, its stats are absolutely awful. It has worse stats than the curator, with an effect that is nowhere near as good.
This is a tough one. The implications are huge, to be sure, but it's just impossible to tell what sort of impact this'll have until after people had a chance to play with it.
The one thing I CAN say is...this card will be absolutely insane in Adventures! If you've ever wanted to play some of those broken ass boss cards, well, this is it!

Although Warriors have Dead Man's Hand now (ง ͠° ͟ل͜ ͡°)ง
EDIT: forgot about Hemet, Jungle Hunter synergy ;)
So if we steal another class's hero card can we use them?
I WANT THIS CARD
That's a great point ._. ' the hell happens there?
Wild Paladin fun
Remember when Ben Brode said, "There's a quality Priest deck out there, that hasn't been found yet."
Turns out it's the opponents deck.

Are you ready for memes? :D
Infinite benedictus chains in the mirror?
Now if this isn't an anti-jade card, then I don't know how anti-jade card should look like!
Control Priest vs. Control Warrior = 45 + 45 = 90 min.
priest will still be bad, should reduce the cost of stolen cards to zero then priest will be good for sure.
I will burn my whole deck with hemet. And craft this guy immidietally.
