This is totally a buff - now you can replace it when your board is full by killing one off and playing a new minion.
I wouldn't say it is an outright buff, but now you can manage better the Dreadsteeds in your board indeed. It was a huge problem trying to land a Mal'Ganis after getting 7 Dreadsteed on board due to missplay.
Dreadsteed still works with Umbra, Rivendare and Kel Thuzad so it's fine somehow, but I guess they could switch its mana cost to 3 like others said.
Personally, I don't see it much different than Equality + Consecration. 6 mana to pretty much kill all enemy minions, though Defile + Dreadsteed would get the job done completely every time. In a class with Twisting Nether and DOOM!, is that really a problem?
I think it's a dumb nerf, but I'm glad they're making changes to Wild cards. I don't really like this change, though.
2. Make defile only recast if it kills enemy minions
3, Make deathrattles check if there are no unresolved effects before happening, that way effects resolve first and then Deathrattle happens
4. Ban Defile in Wild, honestly Pokemon and mtg ban cards in their "Wild" modes before they even come out, hell yugioh doesn't even have a rotation and they still ban cards before they even come out so that people can play them in their kitchen table casual and friend games (sixth sense)...it's a great way to avoid infinite loops, and still allow standard players to play with the card.
I thought for a long time players have been complaining that hs doesn't take advantage of the digital format to change old cards. Now they finally do it and what happens? Bunch of fringe dreadsteed players come out of the woodworks to whine. Sometimes I'm surprised blizzard tries as hard as they do when the community is like this

You obviously have no clue here. You are totally off subject.
Dr. Boom is fine. he would be balanced in current day Standard. Mad Scientist is fine. and Shredder doesnt need a nerf. not even every deck runs it anymore, same with Boom
Dr. Boom still better than all 7+ mana minions (synergies aside), Piloted Shredder is still better than all other 4 drops (again synergies aside). They may not be played much because there are very few Spike players in Wild. They would be still nearly auto-include in all decks if they stayed in standard.

I had a golden dreadsteed, never thought It would get nerfef feelsbadman. Couldn't Blizzard have just changed the interaction? I loved dreadsteeds effect!
Well, I never bothered crafting Dreadsteed, but it looked like a fun card. Now that I know that it's getting nerfed, I can craft it, play it until the nerf and disenchant without losing anything.

The top tier wild decks are indeed far better than standard decks. Larger card pool and more options tends to do that.
But if you look at the win rates, there is a wide variety of top tier decks in wild. When compared to each other they are quite balanced with no one deck dominating.
When everything is imbalanced, nothing is.

I hate that they've done this. To me this is just sheer laziness to not find another solution. They could have easily just given it a special interaction with Dreadsteed that only damages the Dreadsteed once.
yeah why not? always better to set exceptions than to change things to make them working within the rules right?
that would be an interesting card text: "Deal 1 damage to all minions. If any that isn't a Dreadsteed dies, cast this again".
Damn, how people at Blizzard didn't consider this?!?

There are a lot of players playing pure standard decks in wild, and doing pretty ok! Many have seemed to forget the power of some of these cards. Anyway:
Dr. Boom would have wrecked standard, but when aggro and fast tempo is king in Wild, he is not played much at all, as he is slow, and will not save you from a turn 8 lethal.
Mad Scientist is strong also, but there are ways to play around secrets. I worry more about how many crazy egg-druid synergies there are...
Then, you forget a lot of the "good" Wild cards, like Antique Healbot, Reno Jackson, Death's Bite and Sludge Belcher. I feel a main difference is that having a bad opening is much more punishing in Wild, as there are stronger tempo-plays to push an advantage, especially Piloted Shredder. Imbalanced mess, though? Not at all! The meta is much less solved, and it rewards clever teching and deckbuilding.
This nerf is total fucking garbage, because of the reason they're doing it and because Wild was advertised as a place where anything can happen. It was stated by the development team that a hard cap would be set for Grim Patron. Fuck this nerf. They advertised the Wild format as a place where anything can happen, then they nerf a card that is only playable in Wild. Blizzard keeps doing damage to their consumer trust. Advertise that Wild is a place where anything can happen, then tear that illusion to shreds. Tell people their Classic cards will always be part of the Standard format, then move cards to Wild.
I was thinking about Defile and how could Dreadsteed's deathrattle activate before the Defile's effect ends. And I thought, Defile might just add a hiden deathrattle to everyone onboard that reads "If the last action was Defile, cast Defile [, unles we are casting Defile for N times in a row already]". What do you think?

As long we get full refund i'm happy
i see a lot of suggestions in here that are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than what blizzar dis doing
1. Make Dreadsteed a 1/2

It does matter sometimes such as if you want to hit for 1dmg then buff your dreadsteed or eat it with many of the warlock card
e.g. Hit for 1 dmg then cast power overwhelming + shadow flame.
also its value in some brawls will be greatly diminished

Better fix: Make deathrattle trigger at the end of the cycle.
Option 2: Make Dreadsteed 2 freaking mana due to lost combo potential.
