It doesn't sound like the right flavor for a Death Knight, but possibly the new DK Paladin will give divine shields? That would make this and the weapon better late game.
I think the flavor is that they're losing their light in order to empower their stuff. This and the new weapon kinda give that theme. The "fallen paladin" theme. Alternatively, they stated it's sorta vicious like you're sending your stuff off to die sorta thing.
"Yeah, Bubble Paladin is the same great idea as DiscardLock..."
Neither Bubble Paladin nor Discard Lock are bad ideas. The ideas themselves are worth exploring, it's just their current implementation that is lacking.
Sure, i played discard lock before Un'goro and it was cool and fast, after Un'goro i decided to try with quest and all the stuff and it was complete failure... It's fun, yes, but RNG while discarding was ridicoulus and i hope that DK Lock will have ability to choose cards to discard. For bubbles - I tried it before and also it was "just for fun" Maybe now with new cards it'll have a chance and hope it not gonna end like eg. Elemental Mage. I love trying all mechanics available and surely i'll try both of them :)
Pretty sure I wouldn't even put this card in a divine shield heavy deck, which should tell you how bad i find it.
Let me spell it out for you. You need to play 2 divine shielded minions, and have them lose their DS with this in play to even make this have more than 4/7 stats, which is the vanilla standard for 5 mana cards right now(Nesting Roc).
This is without taking into account that it is a 5 mana non aggressive card, and divine shield heavy decks would likely be tilted towards aggro.
Let me spell it out for you. Wait out the other cards and the pally dk card and don't jump to conclusions? :D Just kidding. d I'm rly hoping we see the dk card support this.
Hey guys, I don't think paladin players really want to play cool cards like this, so make it suck. they're happier playing with frogs?...FFS. I swear man, I am getting sick of fucking murlocs and paladins. Murlocs are not frogloks, and WoW is not Everquest. Blizzard get over it already it's been like....20 years!!!
With zero synergies it's a 1/7 followed by a 3/7, that's quite alright by itself in a pinch against aggressive decks. You also have to consider that a Divine Shield deck would run buffs, making it a priority to always remove the Divine Shield from this card asap. It is also a hard to remove 7-health body leading up into the Spikeridged Steed turn.
And all of that is without even taking into account the buffs this card gets from other minions losing Divine Shield. It's just a really solid minion for that deck.
I also particularly like that it's not an auto-include in every Paladin deck like Sunkeeper Tarim is. It's also not an overly strong card in its intended deck, unlike Finja is in Murloc Paladin, which keeps the winrate from being extremely swingy depending on if you can play it on curve or not.
Lastly it's a fair card design-wise, you can 100% counter it through removal on the turn it comes down, again unlike a card like Finja (or Tarim) which is extremely difficult to counter.
With Taunt he would be really good, but like this, mostly playable, because of the Artwork.
The thing is even if Divine Shield Pala becomes Meta, unlike Eater of Secrets, who is Crap against everything except Mage, Blood Knight, who would be the Counter, is decent even as a Vanilla Drop against other classes. Everyone is just going to play him everywhere and eat your Divine Shields. And if not he is still a 3 Mana 3/3 and not a 4 Mana 2/4 lol.
I don't mind if they give Paladin more Divine Shield support but the current state of Divine Shield synergy doesn't feel promising. We'll see more Paladin cards and Death Knight Hero is not revealed yet. Maybe he can really push Divine Shield into strong viable deck. There's more synergy in wild for Recruits and Divine Shield with Stewart Darkshire so maybe there we'll get strong divine shield oriented deck
Play this on turn 5 , then turn 6 spikeridged steed is a very powerfull move or any sort of hand buffing effects on this is amazing , if this card was any other class it would be garbage but paladin have tons of ways to get this super buff .
Anything get spikeridged is super powerful... The card itself is stupidly good when works.
Beside Bolvar is a one off in your deck, you don't pull that combo out that often. Finja, the Flying Star is similar scenario
What if the new hero power is "Give a minion divine shield?"
That would be really cool!
That would be very weak... 2 mana hero power only to give a minion divine shield worth 0.5 mana and not summoning any dudes? no thanks
If it costs only 1 or 0 it would be ok depending on the battlecry. But it doesn't seem they are playing with the cost of the hero powers with the deathknights.

3/7 for 5 mana seems not good, but if see play this is must kill minion because Spikeridged Steed can come right after
Didn't blizzard say they wouldn't have new versions of old characters this expansion, they lied.
Poor Bolvar, badass doesn´t deserve the second humilating legendary :-(

Tiny Bubbles make me sad. 400 dust.
Check out my entry for this week's Card Design Competition. Vote for it if you like it.
They actually managed to make the original Bolvar look better than this piece of trash lmao
They won't give us a collectible Lich king, so they give us Bolvar, the current Lich king
