So with the new expansion will come the hero card. What the hero cards do is that they are played, an effect happens similar to a spell, and your hero power gets replaced with a new more powerful hero power. Also you get 5 armor or at least that's how it is with the hunter hero power.
So the hunter hero power gets changed with 2 mana create-a-beast which generates you a beast card out of all the stats of two beasts. Effect is pretty decent and can generate amazing value in a control match up. However this new hero card has gotten me a bit irritated because in my opinion it completely invalidates Dinomancy.
What was dinomancy? It was a 2 mana hunter epic spell that changed the hero power into 2 mana gives a beast on the field +2/+2. When would you run dinomancy? Well you wouldn't run it in an aggro deck as you spent 2 mana originally to basically do nothing. Most likely you would put it in control or maybe a midrange deck.
In a control match up which would you rather have. 2 mana draw 2 beast cards in 1 or 2 mana gives a beast on the field +2/+2. Considering it's hunter who has a hard time with card draw i'd pick the hero power that gives me really powerful beasts I can play every turn. Second problem is that the hunter card arguably does around 5-6 mana worth of effect for 6 mana where dinomancy does 0 mana worth of effect for 2 mana if you are ignoring the hero power change. The hero cards does something when played when dinomancy doesn't really do much when played making it less clunky to play as you haven't really given much up to change your hero power. Finally with a third problem is that the Hero card is a legendary you can only have 1 of, dinomancy is an epic that you can have 2 of. Having two dinomancy cards in a deck may make it more consistent however in a class that has a hard time with card draw when you draw the second dinomancy you just drew a useless card.
So Dinomancy was terrible and they just gave Hunter a new card that gives Hunters another option for a hero power for control decks. Was it a good idea for Blizzard to give hunter another control hero power or would it have been better if they gave Hunter maybe a more aggro styled hero power for the Legendary Hero Card?
