Whether or not this card ends up being playable is dependent on how prevalent charge beasts are as options when creating the zombeast. I'm too lazy to do the math and we have incomplete information anyway as more beasts will likely be added once more cards are revealed.
You have to cast it, 6 mana, then you have to use 2 mana every turn. Then the mana cost on top of that. Won't work unless the rest of the sets are massively OP, there just isn't an archetype for this card ATM, plus I would much rather on 8 mana be playing my Auctioneer and start going infinite off Jade or do Dopplegangster evolve, they're way better and way more impactful.
Guess it's just way too slow if we compare it with pirate warrior and quest rogue (even after the rotation in half a year) at it's own. Either we need to have some better options against those pesty rogue decks, jade druid decks and aggro decks such as pirate warrior or this card is gonna be garbage. I guess especially the quest rogue and the jade decks are going to be huge problems there to make this card really playable
Waiting for the "Turn Undead" spell and "Holy Water" weapons to show up in the expansion after this one to give all these Hero cards the Lord Jaraxxustreatment, but maybe they won't because it would be 'anti-fun'. Then again, won't this just be quests all over again? They said they were happy with the amount of experimentation that went on with quests but, really, how many of the quests led to functional decks? That and, hated or not, they nerfed one of the only functional ones. Hard to be excited about this new card type with such experiences fresh in our minds.
Impossible to judge right now. It is easy to dream up crazy scenarios right now (what is fun I admitt) but the actual implications of this card wont probably be fully understood until the first couple of weeks after release.
I think that we might be looking at this card the wrong way. In fact, I think he's actually better in aggressive decks which may be unintuitive (I KNOW. JUST HEAR ME OUT.) I think a deck playing him would actually use this hero as the top end. His hero power basically gives you infinite late game, so why would you add more late game? If you can pressure your opponent into trading, then when you are both low on cards in play and slam this. Your opponent will now have to answer each one of these basically legendary minions. I'm not explaining it very well but that's what I think of the card. Control Hunter sounds awful but a new midrange curve-out beast deck seems like a home for this. It would serve a role similar to Medivh or Finja in current aggro decks.
I wonder, how would Build-a-Beast works if beasts such as Crackling Razormaw, Ravenous Pterrordax, Golakka Crawler, Dispatch Kodo, Ironbeak Owl or Hungry Crab are paired together. Do we choose two targets? Or are there some restrictions on discover effects?
Control oriented hunter and this will solve hunter's lack of card drawing with life steal mechanic a N'zoth hunter is very possible but it is still too early to decide
I think that this card will be great fun to play around but I can't see it in Tier1/2 decks at the moment. I am not sure if a "2 mana draw a minion" is impactfull enough. Yes it's endless value but still quite slow (you still lose 2 mana creating the card). All previous sucessfull hunter decks started at least at round 6 to focus on face because they (or the enemy) ran out of life and hunter usually also lost the card advantage at this point. Yes this solves the card draw problem but slows down the hunter tempo + doesn't do much for life -> I can only see a deck with such a card if they add enough healing in the set (maybe life steal can do the trick).

I am pretty amazed by the no. of "playable" vote. We should have learned our lesson from the fallacy of The Marsh Queen, that a card with good effect in demo won't necessarily be practical in real life...
Problem with Marsh Queen was that you had to make your deck really shit to get a good effect. With this, it's a card that doesn't need any activators, other than just playing it.

No you cannot use this with aggro or midrange deck this is card is to push control hunter or else it is only 2 damage board clear+ armor cost of the card is well adjusted only thing hunter requires now is protection at early game more than life steal hunter needs a sticky deathrattle taunt such as Sludge belcher.
I will vote very good for now but it is still early to say this is meta defining but it has potential.
Sidestepping the balance, I feel like making this a new 'type of card' is a bit of a stretch. We already have Juraxxus and Majordomo as mechanisms to change your hero. While that might not be elegant, this could be a spell card instead. My guess is that they want to put as much complex wording on the new heroes as they do on regular cards, so they've created a special card that allows them enough text space to do it. It's not strictly necessary and could be confusing, but I guess it's up to them to do that.

Yeah I am aware that this card isn't ment for midrange and especialyl not for aggro but a successfull controll hunter would probably still run a lot of cards a midrange hunter runs too since the sticky deathrattle minions are just too great in fighting for board -> since I tried midrange hunter in every expansion I know that at round 6 a big part of the game is allready decided and you just have to play out the rest of your cards. Adding more of the pure board controll tools could of course prolong the turn counter a bit (unless the new deathrattles will be to sticky) but the lack of heal while being bad in tempo (with the new hero power) would still be a huge problem for the undead-rexxar deck. Anyway you are right, sticky taunts may be a better and even stronger fit for the hunter class. (if they add good life steal beasts and good cheap taunt beasts we could have the best of 2 worlds)

I wonder what happens if you pick a high mana cost beast then get nothing but high cost beasts for your 2nd pick that puts all the combos over 10 mana lol...Maybe they have protection against that so it aint possible?

King Krush and Gahz'rilla? That would be a fun combo until I tried to play a 16 mana cost card.
Another push for the Boar.

Stonetusk Boar + The Beast = 7(9) mana 10/8 charge. Use in the moment when opponent falls into believing you're playing control hunter.
Quests are spells, they can be counterspelled, not that it happens too often.
I stopped reading after "in your hand" phrase .
Hunter needs tempo not card draw .
