I think this nerf is bad and unecessary, but the most funny thing is how people were talking poorly of Caverns Below back in Un'Goro's spoilers.
It will keep praying on slower decks, while getting even more punished by aggro decks. We could say they simply killed the single scenario where Quest Rogue players needed to use their brain, which was against aggro.
I do think it was necessary.
Its simply something you don't wanna present as a Gamecompany. They introduced so many tech cards and that's what they want ppl to do , experimenting around when they have trouble against a specific archetype/deck. Some grinders don't mind that and simply switch to aggro, but that should never be the solution because:
Not everyone wants /can afford building a aggro deck. Not everyone is capable/willing/enjoyng playing such a deck. The same could be said about other archetypes aswell, but again they aren't that polarizing. Often I even laughed after a loss cause I knew I was favorite and he just drew the nuts or I didn't drew a specific card.
I also think it will be good enough to keep slower decks in check. But,well now they autoconcede against aggro ,like control did vs QR. For most people that's ok.
Why just this one 3 months later? Why no adjustments to the quests that suck to make them playable? Because they're lazy and what they're doing to QR is only because it affects something they've got planned for next expansion that would make QR even worse. Won't take you all long to figure out what it is once they start revealing cards in a few weeks.
Exactly this.
Because Blizzard doesn't buff cards directly. They introduce new cards that can help bad cards (see: Purify). If bad/unplayed quests are to see any changes, it will be through new cards in future sets.

I got a duplicate caverns below a few months back and was frustrated thinking I crafted this got damn thing at start of ungoro. Now I decided to dust the copy after holding onto it for ages incase it got nerfed but gave up thinking Ben Brode doesn't know what the hell he is doing and even if they do it won't be the quest but some other card to nerf QR.
But NO. Days after I DE my copy they announce this. I am so fed up with this game I constantly get shafted by ppack openings etc

That's why many people hold onto their cards, dupes included, until they need dust to craft a specific deck or things get nerfed.
which is what I was doing, but since I hardly opened any legendaries in past 2 expansions I couldn't craft any good decks and finally decided to de my stuff. Typical -.-
For sure there are new cards coming that could have broke the quest, if not nerfed. No reason to at least wait for next meta before nerfing, like they always did. Similar toxic cards like Jade Idol has also been left untouched.
There is no rational argument against Jade Idol.
There is the same argument that has been made now for Caverns Below: it beats control 100% of the time and forces the meta to react.
The difference between Jade Idol and The Caverns Below is the speed with which they beat the control deck. It takes Jade Druid much more (when compared to Quest Rogue) to beat the control deck. With the control decks of today, which are more proactive, you have a much better chance against Jade Druid then against Quest Rogue.
I am also noticing a lot of hypocrites in this thread, talking about how Jade Druid is the filthy control killer deck, while defending the Rogue Quest, which is much more frustrating since you could start losing as early as turn 5, whereas the Druid takes much longer to kill you. On top of that this deck beats Jade Druid as well, quite effectively. If you complained about Jade Druid ever you have no right to defend Quest Rogue now, so please stop. Quest Rogue is much more limiting than Jade Druid for control decks and I think that Jade Druid was introduced to force control decks to have proactive win condition vs the traditional fatigue plan of Control Warrior.
Druid takes much longer but it's still completely oe sided against control decks.
I mean sure maybe against pure control, like old school Control Priest, but there hasn't been anything like that in a long time. Fatigue as a win condition is basically dead these days. Most control decks have beefy late game finishers now. Jade Druid might be favored, but it's far from 'completely one sided.'

I thought Quest Rogue was a Tier 2 deck. It's not as though it's dominating either. It sounds to me like it's appeasement to a p-o'd audience rather than a fix. Just IMO.
Its good either way that they nerf this. Because this and Jade Idol are the biggest offenses to design space in HS history. One destroys control decks, the other endorses aggro.
While they both do different things to the meta, they both have the same end results: Speedstone
Can you imagine when someone posts that thread here 'What can I play now that QR is dead?' Blizz will lose a lot of players if there is suddenly no deck they can run and then they get savaged when asking for help
I keep coming back to this the more I think about this nerf and this situation reminds me of the saying that 'the only way to hurt someone who has nothing is to give them something that is broken'. Players who have limited card pools and dust who got this in packs and wanted to play Rogue are having the one accessible and dust-cheap Rogue archetype taken away from them. Ben Brode said that the deck was seeing play disproportional to its win rate, which means people were still playing it despite the rise in direct counters. Doesn't that suggest that they might not have had other options if they wanted to play Rogue? I understand why the nerf was necessary, but anyone who can't sympathize with players with limited card pools who are potentially losing their one competitive Rogue archetype is a heartless human being.
So why bother making the changes? Comparing February’s nerfs to today’s, the one thing that they both have in common is that they’re both set for release about a month before the launch of a new expansion. With Blizzard already dropping hints about an upcoming set of cards, the move is probably more of an attempt to prep for the next set than it is to shake things up in today’s competitive scene.
People wondering about the timing of the nerf (just before an expansion) will probably find that bit quoted above very interesting as it fits within the theory many people had that one of the reasons they are nerfing Crystal Rogue is because of what they want to do in the next expansion.
Ben Brode and Mike Donais did an hour long live stream Q&A on the Un'Goro and Balance Changes and a review summary and vod link are available in the Hearthpwn news section:
There is some speculation that it will be after one of the previously announced tournaments for which the deadline for submitting decks has already past. Which tournament that was I can't remember, but it is the first or second week of July if I remember correctly, so I imagine they would wait till afterwards if they don't want to interfere it because people made their deck lineups considering the current meta.
http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/857161-control-quest Guys can someone try out this deck ? I don't have all the cards but i think that if you mix up Control Rogue with Quest Rogue and activate the Quest with the help of Shadowcaster it might work . Can someone acually who has the cards help me test it ?
P.S. I will make some changes but i think it might work otherwise ill do something similar with the Quest rogue now and just add Shadow caster so i can play 1 more time the minion i need
I dont know man, cyclopian horror? I think some midrangey version might be viable in wild.

I'm finishing top 100 legend this month with quest rogue.. the deck has been pretty good the past week due to a sharp uptick in slower decks.
S39 Legend - Quest Rogue, S38 Legend - Murloc Paladin, S37 Legend - Miracle Rogue, S36 Top 200 Legend - Aggro Shaman, S35 - Finished Rank 51 Legend - Aggro Shaman, S34 Legend - Aggro Shaman

How much time we have to wait for this cursed card be finally nerfed?

This nerf is so pointless. Rogue quest deck isn't that good. It's about Tier3 or something.
It has some unstoppable draws yes, but most of the time it just beats itself - takes too long to complete the quest or just miss completely.
Oh well, at least I'm getting my 1600 dust back.
@Atherion94, RegisKillbin just did a decksperiment with Control Quest Rogue. The VOD isn't up yet but it will show up here in a few hours I imagine: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbt1SGMrWj5Q7TMXAfmTERQ/videos
