Now, i might be alone on this one, but in order for you to get the quest done, you're gonna want to play it some time during the game.
STEP 2!
DISCOVER SPELLS!
Now you don't wan't to just go out there and discover any spell you can find. You need to discover one in particular, you're gonna want to discover spells that freeze enemies. If you aren't able to play 6+ freeze spells by the end of the game, you're not doing it right!
STEP 3!
FREEZE STUFF
Freeze anything that can be frozen, as long as its an enemy of course. continue this step until you have the combo down, and have played at least 3 ice blocks.
STEP 4!
CONCEDE!
After having your ice block eaten by an Eater of Secrets, which was tech-ed in by a n'zoth c'thun quest paladin, concede before the enemy can kill you.

If this needs to be deleted, ill delete it, just thought id make this post for fun in light of me going against a ton of quest mages, so much so that i tech-ed in an eater of secrets. I haven't lost to them since.
here's a question so this can be somewhat constructive and not a total shitpost.
Has anyone else gotten to the point of just having an Eater of Secrets in almost all of your decks? Cause i have.
Also, what other cards have people been teching in to counter other specific decks? cause the only ones i know are The Black Knight for taunt warrior and the one mentioned above.
Unfortunately tech cards in this game are mostly worthless. They are always under statted, need to be drawn at the perfect time and of course are 100% useless when you are matched up against the wrong class which seems to to happen right after you add the card to your deck. Eater of Secrets is wonderful against a Mage with a full stack of secrets. But.... more often than not it's simply a wasted slot and a total garbage 2/4 body.
The game needs to have flexible tech cards where they get a stat boost IF you don't use their listed tech. For example, say you play eater of secrets and it does not eat any secrets. The stats should change to at least a 3/4 or maybe a 2/5 so it can have board presence or at the worst not be totally useless. Harrison Jones is another cards like this. Terrible card in every situation except for the Dream case where it kills a fat weapon and draws you a bunch of cards. If it doesn't kill a weapon then it should change to a 5/6 body or whatever.
Sorry but IMO tech cards suck. Blizzard needs to fix the broken decks and overpowered cards. Like quest mage....deck is so obnoxious and obscene. Just fix it and we won't need crappy tech cards.

He's not wrong, answers are specific and questions (aka threats) are universal, this has been a huge problem with the game since sideboards aren't a thing and you have no clue to who you will match up against. Even if you queue into 10 pirate warriors in a row it doesn't mean you'll run into another one the ext game when you tech crawler in (the gamblers fallacy). There's a great video on it that Asmodeus Clips made. Tech cards definitely need to be more flexible granted the anti pirate crawler was one of the first flexible tech cards for beast hunter.
dirty rat is a better choice to tech IMO.. if you hold onto it until much later.. you arent as likely to pull something like babbling book or doomsayer.. and if you pull a combo piece.. you basically win.. unless youre dumb, and pull out antonidas, without something else to kill it.
But dirty rat is more viable in other matchups.. you can stall the rogue quest, if you get the right pull
Eater of Secrets was not even viable when secret paladin was still a thing and quest mage is no where close to being as strong as secret paladin. Even without teaching against it you should be able to win most games against quest mage, as long as you don't play a super greedy control deck. And if you play a super greedy control deck then put in a dirty rat or two and problem is solved. Seriously people crying over Quest mage is just the most ridiculous thing ever.

True. Still point remains: Quest mage is neither rampant enough or strong enough to justify using such a heavy tech card against it. If you just want to have the great feeling every 20th game that you win just because the eater of secrets, then go ahead, but from a rational point of view a dirty rat is more than enough.

It's not like it doesn't work against secret/tempo mage and freeze mage who don't use the quest.. That's far more than one in 20 games.
I dont play against that many mages, but maybe its different in other regions. But if you play quest rogue against lets say freeze mage the winrate is not actually that bad, around 45%, probably even a bit higher. If you put the eater of secrets in you increase the winrate to maybe 70% (you still have to draw it) while worsening all other matchups by lets say 3-4% for running a useless card. So on average around every 7th match needs to be one in which the eater of secrets actually matters, otherwise it will hurt your overall winrate. Don't think that mages relying on secrets are that common nowadays. The hunters I meet are also all beast hunters.

It is even pretty dead in Wild now. Many decks have a good matchup vs them, especially pirate warrior, and it is an inconsistant deck. I have not seen an eater in a long time in either mode!
If secret mage becomes cancer in wild, it could make a return, though!
I have teched in black knight in many decks, because it connects over 50% of the time. I've considered Eater of Secrets, but only face mage about 20% or less. Not even hunter and palidan run secrets these days.

Yeah - thanks for getting it, unlike the guy above you thats obviously playing a different game. Tech cards SUCK in this game. Dirty rat is interesting but fails as much as it succeeds. This game desperately needs MORE answer cards that can deal with the extremely overpwered questions. But they refuse. Thats why ladder sucks and is 100% pure matchup and draw luck. Or, play a cancer deck which is the only way to win even smewhat consistently.
I finally got to eat an Ice Block just now. I had 9 health, he was at 4 health and i KNOW he had Pyroblast in his hand, i had a Storm Guardian out. I said Well Played and of course he thought i was conceding, but then i dropped my Eater of Secrets and ruined his day.
It was worth the other 20 games where i couldnt use Eater. :D
Here's my guide on how to play the great

I win due to skill and lose due to bad RNG. :D
depends on the meta. tech cards tend to be OK 1-ofs In Arena (at least before new arena). Think about how much AcidicSwamp was used last meta
VS
Not a worthwhile tech, use Dirty Rat instead. At least, not until Secret Mage/Hunter start running rampart.

That feeling when your techcard destroys your opponent!
Flare
That's Incredible!
I'd say yes. Dropping eater on a hunter Christmas tree is awesome!! Mages get arrogant thinking ice block will save them.
When I've met several mage and secret paladin in a row I put it it, after that I don't see a secret deck anymore until I take it out again.

I don't think its about justifying how good Eater of Secrets is, but rather crushing the soul of mages everywhere.

*Eater of Iceblocks is amazing...it's just one card, you don't lose anything against not mage opponents...
