Lol why is this still a topic? I wish I would be able to feed on Quest rogue a bit while laddering but instead I'm sitting in a corner crying while hitting my fifth freeze mage in a row.
Well Freeze Mage has a pretty decent MU against Quest Rogue so if you want to "feed" on them you should give it a try.... And this is still a thing cause Freeze Mage loses to Eater of Secrets while there's not an actual counter to Quest Rogue beside playing an Aggro Deck....
My point was rather that there are almost no quest rogues on ladder anymore. I was quite happy with my druid last month with the occasional quest rogue encounters. Now all you face is freeze mage and shaman. With the former pissing me off when you see them fishing for answers and always random finding something.
Heck I did encounter 3 cuthun warrior this month and only 1 quest rouge. (Rank 8 ATM if that is relevant)
This is BS. I've been playing goofy decks around ranks 18-20, and in 50 or so games, nearly 1/4 have been against quest rogue. I've roped every one.

Not everyone is thinking in terms of "this deck has an X% wr vs Quest Rogue"
@SchruteBucks, I also enjoy messing around with deck building. While not everyone thinks in terms of statistics like I do, I do think they have a place in the conversation - not to tell other people their experiences are invalid, but to better understand the larger picture.
Ya know what, the fact that this has over 1000 posts means its even more polarizing than pre-nerf Yogg-Saron...
@Zence, If by polarizing you mean 'controversial to enough people posting here', I would agree with you on the characterization of this thread, though I personally doubt it will get nerfed, even if the post counts are similar. People complained about Jade Idol after its release and it's thread had similar numbers of posts and has been left untouched by Blizzard. I think they largely leave the meta to sort itself out before they take action.
@Prudence94, all perfectly valid points. I was just making a generalization for the sake of discussion about what it would take for Control to win vs Crystal Rogue and wasn't implying that you didn't understand what that meant. The suggestions you mention are all good examples of playing to your outs and I would agree that not all Control decks are as flexible as others when it comes to playing that way, such as Control Priest which is often characterized by having a lot of reactive cards and would have difficulty transitioning into a more active role.

Which server you're on, your rank, the time of day, and general match making RNG all have a role or influence in what you personally see. Statistically the number of Quest Rogue being played is declining overall, but that doesn't mean you can't get unlucky and face several in a row. What both of you saw can be accurate, though other people's experiences could be different.
I even had the tech for it as Priest (turn 3 discover Counterspell). Not to worry, because he completed the quest on turn 4 and had Prep, so I never got a chance to play Counterspell.
If anything, Prep shouldn't affect the quest's cost.

No one with even a bit of common sense would ever play their Quest on something that might be Counterspell... It would surely slow them down but that's not really a counter...

Which as I just mentioned, was nerfed, even though he could lose the game.
Which means I hope this gets hit with the nerf hammer soon so that we can all move on.
If you think Yogg was only nerfed because people complained allot, you need to take a look at some tournaments from the Yogg era. It'll become very clear there was an actual problem with the card, not just player frustration wise.
Do you not see the problem with Quest Rogue? Its not because of the win rate, like everyone else has established 1000 times. Open your eyes, its not fun to play/play against and it needs to be changed.

I said that nearly 1/4 (12/50) of MY games were against Quest Rogue, which is evidence that your statement that "there are almost no quest rogues on ladder anymore" is BS. If you don't want to take my word for it, just look at VS reports. Other than the first week of ungoro, where quest rogue peaked at 12% or so, the deck has held steady at between 7-9% play (the 5th-6th most played deck). So, I'm not sure what you mean when you say "there are almost no quest rogues on ladder anymore," since there have been about the same number for the last 6 weeks.
right from the start of the expansion i got quest rogues everywhere but since i was playing pirate warrior i won most of the games and didnt seem that hard cuz they died before they could finish the quest, now they put taunts in the deck which can make it a little bit more tricky but yeah if you see alot of them just play pirate warrior or something that has alot of early pressure
1) It is unbeatable by anyone piloting with half a brain and anywhere near "Not the worst draw possible" versus any deck that isn't pure aggro. You can clear their board 3 times with Dragonfire Potion or whatever and they'll still kill you off all the cantrips and card generation abilities the deck has. It's just too easy to reload and then kill you from basically an empty board state.
2) There is no interacting with this deck. You essentially have to go face and hope you kill them before they can quest then overwhelm you.

So 7-9% equals 7-9 quest rogue decks in about 100 games. Or possibly 1 around 11 games... which pretty much explains why I didn't run into any lately. If we now take your statement into account 1/4 around rank 20-18 which equals 25% on this ranks or 25 in around 100 matches, well then there has to be an significant decrease in the lower digits (rank 15-legend) to get to those 7-9% as a final number, which would drop the encounter rate even more in those ranks. That explain it even better why I didn't meet any of them recently..
One a sidenote: do you have the percentages for freeze mages?
It is such a bad sign when I'm proud that I avoided playing a good card that I would probably enjoy for the last 3 weeks because I know my opponents will not have fun playing against me. Blizzard, c'mon man!

Yap , like that!
Benjamin Brode c'mon!! So many people complain about that rock, paper, scissor meta( wich they maybe always have) , and I usually have no problem not being the favorite but it's just frustrating when you go into a match knowing that you maybe have 15% or less of a chance to win. It feels like such a waste of time....
I don't mind losing against it if it's played properly.
Same here. This match up doesn't bother me and it is usually quick. I hate playing Quest Warrior much more but I've rarely seen either deck in the last month or so.
If you don't want to take my word for it, just look at VS reports.
I also look at those reports but I get what you are saying now. That being said though, being the 5/6th most played archetype hasn't placed it very high on the vS tier rankings though because it's statistical winrate is below 50% and this trend is what vS cited as the reason for the general decline in Crystal Rogue decks being played. It's leveled off but isn't in a position to dominate as hard as it did at the release of Un'Goro.
if you see alot of them just play pirate warrior or something that has alot of early pressure
Being flexible and playing to the meta is an important strategy for laddering. I understand that some people aren't satisfied with that idea but laddering is all about risk management and taking advantage of meta trends as you see them coming.

It is statistically closer to 30/70% winrate on average at worst in DataReaper's numbers, but that probably feels the same as 15% or less anyway as it is a very tough match up for some decks, so I am not saying you are wrong to feel that way about the match up.

There are barely over 1000 posts in this thread and I doubt everyone who posted here is in agreement. I respect your right to to say that this card is not fun to play against, but I disagree that "I don't find ____ fun to play against" is reason enough alone to warrant a change.

Go to VS and look at the stats. Across all ranks, Freeze mage is less than 1.5% and at ranks 6-10, its just over 1.5%. So the average player is seeing Quest rogue 5 times as often as freeze mage. Personally, I don't think I saw a single one. Saw several secret mages though
Yeah i found it.. wasn't even aware that there are 3 different types since most matches feel the same for me: secrets discover a spell freeze board blizzards doomsayer alexstraza etc. might just be that all the types just have access to the same spells due to glyp and babbling and thus feel rather similar when encountering them.
Nevertheless I just started noting down what I face on my way from 8-5 currently rank 7 faced 2 aggro druids 2 silence priests 1 paladin and 1 secret mage ( this one was the first I could identify as such due to no freeze and tons of secrets)

When did I say I was talking about this thread? I merely said like everyone else has established 1000 times. Don't jump to conclusions.
Not every person in HS is in this forum complaining about Quest Rogue here, and if "Auto-Pilot deck with no form of exsistence other than to annoy the hell out of everyone" doesn't cut it then how about acknowledging the other things that a lot of people here have been saying. Like promoting aggro decks and not following the intended design of Quests in the first place.

Fair enough, but "established 1000 times" without a source citation just reads as hyperbole to me. Also, while win rate and other statistics aren't the whole picture, they are valuable indicators of the big picture that have their place in this conversation. If you are not trying to argue that they don't belong in this discussion as I thought you were doing, then I apologize for misunderstanding you.
Not every person in HS is in this forum complaining about Quest Rogue here,
That is a good point but that could just as easily cut the other way, too. Restated, what I mean is that this is an example of the vocal minority vs silent majorityproblem - we only know what a few select people are saying for or against the card, while we don't know what the rest of the player base actually thinks as they are not posting here or anywhere and may not even be reading or following any Hearthstone websites or news outside of what is shown in the client.

For the record, I'd be perfectly fine with changes that made it more fun for both parties and I've acknowledged plenty of things about this deck in my previous posts. I just don't expect Blizzard to make changes just because there are people saying they don't have fun against it. Customer feedback is important, another thing I've previously acknowledged, but there are always going to be cards people hate and have divided opinions on and I just don't see Blizzard taking any action without more reasons to do so.

That's rich, because Overwatch has a history of bending over backwards to please their playerbase with changes to heroes to balance each other, and it shows with how supportive the Overwatch community is.
And I find your statement rather amusing, that there will always be cards people hate and have divided opinions on. NOT LIKE THIS. The hatred for Caverns Below dwarfs any of the hate thrown at Dr Boom, Mysterious Challenger, and Patches, because of the fact there is no way you can counterplay it and control almost always loses if luck is not on their side. Equally infuriating is how casters of tournaments absolutely fawn how cerebral playing the card is when it is essentially "kill me by turn four or you automatically lose" or "first one to play Crystal Caverns wins". Caverns Below is different from all three minions I mention because there is no fucking way to avoid it, few fucking ways to play against it, and even having Pirate Warrior not deal enough damage before Crystal Caverns is played.
Blizzard will have to take action very soon, especially with the dead cat bounce that is expected if more cards are added to reward the scummy playstyle of the deck, and pretending that no cards need to be nerfed. For fuck's sake, WOTC is doing more to ban grossly overpowered cards recently than Blizzard's outright refusal to deal with the actual problem cards like Caverns Below. The same company that is continually adjusting Overwatch like an accountant balancing coins on a scale also has a game where grossly overpowered cards cause the community to play against a competitor. That is the problem of having such a large playerbase, you will eventually have competitors (like ES, Gwent, Hex and Shadowverse) that will listen to the community more than the Hearthstone developers are willing to do, and they'll leave when scummy deck types are rewarded over actual creativity.

Garrosh did nothing wrong.
The problem with the card/deck is twofold:
1) It is unbeatable by anyone piloting with half a brain and anywhere near "Not the worst draw possible" versus any deck that isn't pure aggro.
