+ Copy minion spell on Sorc Apprentice ("Molten Reflection") = 2 mana
+ Another Molten Reflection on Sorc Apprentice = 1 mana
Extra Turn: Antonidas + spell = gg..
Alternatively: Play molten/Arcane Giants with Alex/ ice block
I was thinking this too. You can even play the Molten Reflections on the first turn and you'll still have enough mana for the quest, allowing you to use any spell up to 7 mana the next turn to start the ball rolling.
Seems Mukla would be a great card for this right? That's 2 1 mana spells right there and he has a respectable body for a 5 mana minion.
Then u have your staples Babbling Book/Primordal Glyph Shimmering Tempest and Cabalist's Tome. Shouldn't be "that" hard to set up.
I think is the more easy quest to complete, rogue maybe able to complete first but with GOD hand, the mage it is only a question of time, the entire deck feeds the quest.
So they rotated out Ice Lance just to give us this instead.
THANKS BLIZZARD. It seems "fun and interactive" mage will continue to plague standard.
Lmaoooo salty boy lose a lil to much to freeze mage?
Lol gratuitous insult. The problem with freeze mage isn't that it was everywhere on ladder (THANK GOD) but that it's the least interactive deck on ladder since it doesn't give a single fuck about the board and is uncounterable if he draws perfectly, if you're not CW and if you didn't tech cards that would throw away your other matchups. Other combo decks tend to care about the board and pirate warrior at least gives you a quick death. Call this salt if you want, but it's rational salt.
The only problem is that based on how I interpret the card, if you get additional copies of spells you already play in the deck, they will not count towards the quest. Like if you run 2 fireballs and get another one from Babbling Book or Tome, that will not count. This can create times when you will not even trigger the quest the entire game, and would have to overcompensate by playing more "gain a random spell" cards than you would want. I love this card and can't wait to try it, but it may be harder than it seems to pull this off at times. Edit: didn't think about Mukkla, if you run Antonidas that's already a good enough reason to run him, so I can definitely see Mukkla being played with this quest. Also, Kabal Chemist is another card that could be added, and Ysera... also what about Burgly Bully and coins? Does each coin count as 1 for this quest? I guess this is easier than I thought, but it brings me back to playing more cards than you'd want to fulfill the quest. Either way, I can't wait to try it.
What about The Coin? Does it count as a spell that didn't start in your deck?
Yes. During the stream, the mage player (Frodan's opponent) played the coin and it counted as a spell that didn't start in his/her deck.
But Frodan's opponent went first and got the Coin from Frodan through Mana Bind. So it is still unclear if the Coin will count if you start with it. I think it will (since it gets added to your opening hand and does not start in your deck), but this still needs confirmation.

Apparently it's been confirmed that additional fireballs, frostbolts etc.. that you get from book or tome etc.. count, so coin should as well.

Pretty sure your interpretation is incorrect. If a spell gets added to your hand via any method then it didn't start in your deck, a Fireball you get from Cabalist's did not start in your deck. I think that's how they're doing it - and seems to have been confirmed.
That's four cards that are dead vs. aggro. I've never seen molten giant run ever since it's nerf either. No idea why so many people love the quest, it's only good vs. slow control which doesn't really exist.
Ok Metstradamus i can see you already predicted new meta... Yes Giant's are maybe dead cards vs aggro decks but it's only four cards mate, there is 26 more cards waiting in deck to be played... Also i think you are completely wrong about mage quest, it's damn OP and you will see it in few weeks...
I think its ment to be a nigh win condition for having played 6 non-deck cards. thats hard because they are usually worthless and your wasting mana and turns you cant afford to.

If it works as u say(Duplicate spells don't coun) Then this card is beyond trash. I highly doubt thats the case.
Im pretty sure it just means spells that didn't originate from your deck. If i have 2 fireballs and babbling book gives me a 3rd fireball that is still one spell counted towards this "quest" when played. (At least thats how im viewing that this card works)
I'm confused with this card. Sure, you get a free turn, but feels very situational to use. Ideal scenarios to play this is when you board presence (not necessarily control), or when you have around 8 to 10 mana so you have other actions before using Time Warp -- so around bonus 1 to 5 mana in one turn, plus card draw. Hmm.. Validated Doomsayer + Time Warp is kinda interesting though.

Yogg-Saron, Hope's End will fit in this deck.
Wast know about this.. So Mage's Quest will not work with Yogg-Saron, Hope's End ?
double Arcane Giant Open the Waygate Alexstrasza is an otk combo.
And not difficult to pull off.
Good thing the quest is nigh impossible to complete.
