A lot of people are far too convinced that this car is bad. Remember shaku the collector? Random card advantage tied to a body can be a whole lot better than people give it credit for.
There are several big things going for this card. The first is that it can naturally chain, as a lot of priest spells are cheap. Even if they aren't great, if they have any impact, it can add up. The second is that they are giving priest sorcerer's apprentice, which can actually turn lyra into a serious value engine in control matchups if you save cards. The third is shadow visions, which when combined with the spell cost reductions, allows for you to potentially play a ton of spells.
And besides that, it is a 3/5, which isn't totally negligible. And if you leave it alone, it will definitely generate tons of value. Because even cards that aren't good enough to put in your deck can still impact the game state.
Really bad? I don't know, with this you can run 1 Silence for counter some cards and don't forget Mind Vision have potential in the new expansion if opponent cannot play the reward in same turn he complete the quest.
This is basically a worse nexus champion saraad, considering priest has a LOT more useless spells than the average HS class, and it has worse stats to top it off. Not to mention that if there's something priest doesn't need is more value oriented cards.
I think a lot of players here are gravely underestimating this card. Seriously just compare Lyra the Sunshard to what already exist : _ Gadgetzan Auctioneer has the same amount of stat for 1 less mana _ Archmage Antonidas has the exact same stat/mana ratio
Well, since you can't play Archmage Antonidas in Priest, we can't compare that at all.
But hey, guess what card you never see in a Priest deck! Gadgetzan Auctioneer, because it turns out that Priest spells are a lot more situational that the spells of other classes. You need very specific targets for a lot of them, or you can't cast them at all. The ones that can be cast whenever you like will have almost no impact if you don't time them well. On the other hand, Mages, Rogues, and Druids have no trouble finding targets for their spells, which are usually damage or summoning spells, so they are always impactful.
So yes, you could technically activate this thing a bunch of times, but as a Priest, casting your spells without regard for the game state is the same as discarding them. So what you're doing is paying mana to trade in the spells you chose for a bunch of random ones.

Wait i just realized something, Lyra the Sunshard, 2x Radiant Elemental and 2x Shadow Visions will give you in theory unlimited spells (or atleast until your hand is full and you cant play anymore) and considering that most priest spells are rather cheap i can see this combo for value becoming a thing atleast in control matches.
I'm not sure I understand why people are down on this card. It enables nice value turns for Priest, and looking at the Standard list, most of the generated spells are either cheap and thus easily cycled or provide value later on. Lyra is a cantrip engine, plain and simple.
Bear in mind, the power level of most cards goes up when they don't occupy a deck slot. Looking at the list, there are only a few that aren't great to get:
Forbidden Shaping, because it eats up your mana for the turn no matter when you cast it and ends your cycle. Getting a minion from this may or may not be worth it.
Circle of Healing, because even though its a free cycle, it'll heal the opponent's board. A fine card if you don't have damaged board staring you down, however.
Free From Amber, because it's an expensive spell that might clog your hand for a turn or two.
The spell pool for Priest is also getting a lot better because TGT is rotating out, which means no more Confuse and Convert. Even though a lot of these are cheap and low-impact, these effects really add up. I'm going to stay optimistic and say that this will find a place in some Priest decks.
Card is not trash, but priest players (me included) have all the rights to feel disappointed. With a quest like that we were all hoping for some super cool deathrattle, instead we get this, that has stats of a 4 mana minion. As an hand filler, champion Nexus saraad + beardo/ garrison commander / shadowform was much much better (talking about Reno priest with Raza). Also, now that entomb is gone and priest is left with 0 tools for removing 4atk minions, i would have at least appreciate some sort of replacement.
I would consider this effect to be worse than Fandral Staghelm. They got the same statline (subpar even for a 4 drop) but Fandral Staghelm is 1 mana cheaper, less random since all the options from the choose one cards are good and it sort of counted as "draw a card" and play it directly. It even worked on some really good minions.
With Lyra the Sunshard you can play a spell, get Purify Silence your Lyra the Sunshard and then concede the game. Would have been fun to actually have a legendary to synergize with the Priest quest instead of yet another gimmick card in priest.
Why did Sylvanas Windrunner need to be removed again? They told us that it was because there was some great Deathrattle synergies that would make Sylvanas Windrunner broken but from the looks of it it doesn't seem to be in this expansion. There are some synergy cards released in this expansion but they pretty much have the same effect as cards released in previous expansions and the available deathrattle minions available to build your quest deck seems rather boring and lackluster. Seems like Priest will have to put its hopes on some other expansion because from the look of things it will not be competitive in this one.
Priest has very situational spells. How many would you really be able to cast while Lyra the Sunshard is up? You can try to set up something with also Radiant Elemental, but that is even harder to make it works.
Priest has a lot of bad spells. In the best scenario you would get 2 or 3 free spell from Lyra but would that be usefull in anyway?
I'm a bit disappointed with this class legend, probably if they've put Lyra to Mage and Pyros to Priest it would have been better because Mage could for sure get more value from extra spells while Priest could at last use the deathrattle better due to their quest.
Because you always have 13 mana to spend in a turn right? In what world have you been playing where you can execute this combo spread over two turns without getting any of this killed?

This guy is an idiot... Because of people like you blizzard can't give us complex mechanics man..

The main issue that Mot1ons was pointing out is that to have Lyra the Sunshard and 2x Radiant Elemental on the board in the same turn is not something that could be done easly. If you try to set up the Elementals before they'll probably die because they're not that resilient and the legend if seen before triggering will be the main focus of your opponent's removal.
Total cost of putting all those 3 on board is 9 mana, then you can cast Shadow Visions for free and search for something that you'll anyway cast next turn due to the fact you've got only 1 mana (if you do that on turn 10). So total value is 1 random Priest's spell, and so many of those are just crap.

I honestly was hoping for a game-ending inspire card. I think Paletress got a lot better once Raza came out, and there was room to make a similar but more effective card.

Honestly I think Free From Amber is one of the absolute best cards you can get from something like this (just drop a big huge minion after getting reasonable value). You're most likely trading a 1 or 2 cost spell for an 8 cost minion. That's pretty good value, especially in priest. Even if it sits in your hand for a turn or two. Otherwise I agree with you on the other cards.
It really is just a shame that pulling Shadow Word: Horror and Purify is SO weak. But even so, your odds of pulling either of those is miniscule. Chaining 1's or getting really really great trade-ins is the most likely outcome by far. (There are about thirty spells you can pull.)
As to comboing this with the Radiant Elemental. You really only need a single Radiant Elemental to get good trade-ins (and you only need 2 trade-ins to make the card good). Double Radiant Elemental and Shadow Visions is just excessive and not realistic.
Its bad but I love these effects. Gonna put a golden version in my randuin wrynn deck eventually.

This + Mirage Caller, get 2 spells for your coin. Got a useless silence? Trade it for 2 more spells. Deathrattle priest is going to be so busted.
Good if it drops from a booster, but not worth crafting or even building another archetype over it.

Terrible card, won't see play.

Shadow Word: Pain and Shadow Word: Death, because they might not always have a target and may potentially break your cycle.
Purify and Shadow Word: Horror, because lolPriest.

For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?
A 3/5 for 5... Are you kidding me? And again a card that needs to combo to have any effect.
Besides that I'm super disappointed we did not get a deathrattle legendary.
