A good card for Freeze Mage I guess. When it comes down to running a 1-drop for an Elemental-based deck, there's no doubt Fire Fly is going to be better in most cases, but it'll still have its uses here and there as a card.
A well designed one drop, they can do it after all!
The body isn't much. But the options for playing it are numerous. Mage synergy with other effects, any class just halting a big minion late in the game, freezing face or an early minion to prevent a weapon or minion from trading into it. If it sees play, it's probably going to be because of the Elemental tag, but it is a cool card. I hope we see enough supporting cards outside of Mage and Shaman to allow other classes to "splash" a few Elementals, like the original introduction article referenced. Something more than completely pointless so it's an option where it seems appropriate, but something less than the Water package where it gets thrown any deck to try to high-roll and cheese out wins.
This is the first card that I'm actually excited about in the set. Yes, it's a powerful 1-drop; but it is easy to remove and cannot snowball (assuming we don't see the elemental version of a Murloc Warleader in the remaining cards).
Good defensive minions almost always have taunt, so the only real aggro use for this card is delaying a trade while you build a board or stopping removal by weapon (or Rogue/Druid hero power). It's hard to imagine what this would replace in a pure burn deck like Pirate Warrior. Zoo could certainly use it though.
Conversely, there are good options here for control-ish decks. Stop a Warrior from going face with his weapon or freeze a Frothing Berzerker for a turn while you hunt down removal options and put a body on the board? Excellent. Pair with a Doomsayer to help ensure an effective board clear or your opponent wastes extra burn from hand. Force awkward trades by freezing the strongest enemy minion after throwing down a taunt.
The more I think about this card, the more I like it.
One of the strongest neutral 1 drops printed yet, it deactivates Druid and Rogues hero power so it's highly survivable on the play and it prevents their one drop from trading on the draw. And it basically scales thru out the whole game, pretty nuts.
Wow this card is actually really really good and has a lot of synergies for Mage.
1. It freezes - Mage has cards that synergize with that effect
2. It's an elemental - Mage has a decent amount of elemental cards and I assume they are going to be releasing some class specific Mage cards that synergize with that specific
Also, you can combo this so easily with Shatter because it's only 1 mana.
That's 3 mana for hard removal and a 2/1 body to boot. There's some serious potential here.
*sigh* aother Op aggro 1 drop, not only it will consistently get two damage it will now freeze the minions you are using to kill the aggro influx so that they get even more face damage in befor ebeing killed, sould be statted twards either health or be a 1/1 to help with mid-rangish control strategies, but it had to be another aggro card :S
Great card! will be an auto-include in most decks due to it's flexibility! Early game you can freeze opponent's face to stop early weapons, late game the battlecry allows it to still be a useful drop by buying you a turn to deal with a tough minion. I like this little guy.........Elemental Shaman is shaping up to be a powerhouse.........

Freeze is a very powerful mechanic...It's valued at +1/+1 in stats or 1 mana in itself. This could see some play for sure.

Small-Time Recruits; hand-buffing could work if there are enough anti-pirate cards, and this is a tremendous hand-buff target.

It looks kinda promising, but you have to remember that Freezing Potion saw absolutely no play at all, which is why im a bit sceptical on this one.

definitely, a good stall card might be dead in classes like druid because if your behind on board you probably lost.

Return of the aggro!! Oh wait, aggro never went anywhere....
if i was only 95% sure mage's quest was elemental themed, im 99% sure now.

This card changes everything. It is literally meta-defining in the most fundamental way. I'm not even being sarcastic here.

A balanced one drop. I really like the design on this one

May be playable with the rogue quest too, powerful cantrips which you can bounce back are exactly what enables rogues return to hand mechanics.
