This card is really good in aggro / midrange. One of the biggest problem these decks are bad draws, for example: turn 7 draw a fiery bat instead a high-quality minion, finisher or cow, this card is a great tool against it.
This is a way better card than people seem to think. I wouldnt really expect people who copy decks to understand why, but this kind of card allows you to build your deck in a way that both allows you to compete on board early and still have good strong bombs for the late game. If secret pally showed us anything, it is to not underestimate these kinds of tools.
All that said, I dont honestly know if hunter's value package is good enough at this point in time with Rag gone and call of the wild at 9 mana. Still, I definitely wont be counting this card out especially as a 5 mana card in hunter like most of the community seems to be doing.
This card is a sleeper. Drawing cards is very strong, especially specific cards (look at curator). I think this will see play in a more midrange hunter type. Never underestimate the power of drawing cards...
I'm not disagreeing with you that a tutor on a stick is cool... but drawing 1-drops on turn 5 seems underwhelming. I can see the argument this at least thins your deck out so you have better topdecks (topdecking Alleycat is absolutely awful that late in the game), but I'm not sure you're really winning if you're filling your hand with low-value drops and the stats for the mana aren't great.
I've put it as playable because I do think there's a niche this fits in, but it's pretty borderline bad to me. I'm curious if there's something cool yet to be announced that will make this look more appealing, I think it's at least a very neat design.
I think in a lot of classes, this is not a great card. But, if Midrange Hunter is playable, I think this is playable in that deck (probably as a 1 of) because:
- It fills a traditionally awful mana slot for the class. - It guarantees beast synergy as you transition into the mid and late game. - It's card draw in a class that has no card draw.
Solid points, but still a 5 mana 3/5 and not a beast is so horrible.
I think people are misunderstanding this a bit... it doesn't matter that you don't want 1 drops on turn 5. What this does, is assuming you're running about 3 one drops anyway, is get rid of any leftover 1 drops you have in your deck so the rest of your draws are better. It may seem back to play this on turn 5 and draw your fiery bat and alley cat, but imagine instead drawing those one at a time on later turns in a class that struggles to draw cards? You basically lose at that point.
Hunter currently tends to run 2 Alleycats and sometimes Fiery Bat. If a 3/5 body for 5 mana garantees that I won't topdeck those cards in the later stages of the game, i'm fine with that. People saying this card is crap possibly haven't played hunter in a while, but the last time I tried it, I ran 2x Tracking just to see if I could eliminate those early game minion topdecks in the late game. Can see most Midrange hunters running one copy of this card, tho I do think 2 copies is a bit overkill, as Hunter plays a fast midrange deck, and this is a slow card.
I think you guys might be missing the real problem here- tempo. Hunter wants to spam minions on curve and get maximum value out of every card. That's why hunter runs so many deathrattle cards- they have the most value and stats per card. This card is the complete opposite to what hunter needs. If it drew just cards not only minions it would have been good because then you could run it in a control deck and draw trackings and snipes. But minions? Nope. That's just not good enough. You'd have better chance winning when you play the tiger on turn 5.
Looks fair to me ,thats unfourtunatly most of the time not good enough for standard. Kind of a Small-Time Recruits attached to a 3/4 mana body.
To have lots of one drops in a deck is a indicator to be super aggressive style . So in order for this to be viable, Hunter has to get strong 1 drop(s), because the body for 5 mana is not very aggressive.
After the release of this card I urge mods to add another option on the "what do you think about this card" poll. I need a "This cards makes me want to quit hearthstone" option.
How can anyone not see that this card being added to the hunter class is a #$%# mockery. Here's a life fact for ya: HUNTERS WILL NEVER HAVE A GOOD CONTROL DECK. Why? Well, have you seen the hero power? #%@*, have you played the game long enough to be bored just about the sufficient amount to start doing science? The moment you go just a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiitle bit into less aggressive midrange territory, BAM! Your deck sucks.
How the flying @#$& do you expect to play a FIVE MANA 3/5 and still win that game, as a hunter? Because
YOU DON'T
This is just YET ANOTHER Shadowbomber, a card that makes ZERO sense in the class they are in, and will NEVER see play in any remotely competitive deck. In other words: a waste of time, space in the collection and ultimately your money. This is lazy and uninteresting design, this is an insult to the player base, this is them saying "yes, we will print this and you will buy packs, and this turd is going to be in some of them, sometimes even golden, so you can love it and keep it forever in your collection as a token to remember how pointless your life is"... okay, I got a little bit carried away there, but you get the point.
Why not make this as a paladin card? Hell, maybe even rogues could have better uses for getting rid of 2 dead cards and that 3/5 body. But no, make it a #@#&* hunter card.
This card won't see any significant play and the initial wave of optimism will wear off as soon as people get it in their hands. Right off the bat 5 mana for 3/5 is horrible. That will not see play. The reason this will not see play and should not be compared to Finja is because finja pulls the Murlocs onto the board. This just draws them. The difference between this and Curator is because if you have a list of about 6+ 1 drops, the two pulled are going to be a crap shoot as opposed to specifically putting your dragon and beast of choice. And lastly why this isn't going to see play is because two one drops on turn 6 are significantly worse then anything previous to turn 5. Not to mention, hunter doesn't have the 1 drops that make a significant difference and neutral 1 drops are mostly unplayable outside of the ones that are strong for specific classes which hunter can not utilize. It's okay to have a level headed mind when it comes to these releases, not everything has to be broken or garbage or underrated.
Edit: as been thrown around, this does help out thinning your deck out but if this sees plays it'll be in a control deck and not a midrange deck, because slow investments are not something midrange decks want to do. Even if it's thinning it out, this card stat wise does not seem good enough for a midrange archetype. I might be missing something, especially since I can't think clearly at this very moment but I'm almost sure of what I said
Bad player misunderstanding what bad players look like detected, it does thin your deck, it isn't amazing because stats suck and one drops aren't great turn six and on but I see this seeing play if hunter is not complete shit.

Just fill your deck with one drops, that is creative deck design, right?
This actually addresses a big need for mid-range hunter: having a consistent early game while being able to play mid-game bombs like Highmane. Now you can front load on one-drops ensuring that you have a strong early game, and then use cards like this and Tracking to efficiently transition into a mid-game.
Timber Wolf is actually a minion I could see being run in such a deck, as it combos extremely well with Alley Cat, UTH, Dispatch Kodo, and Dirty Rat, so the tools are there to make such a deck work. ofc it all depends on the meta, but the potential is there.
Luckily for us, the text doesn't read "Draw two 1-Cost minions from your deck. You MUST play these on your next turn."
Because that would indeed be a bad card.
In reality, you can go ahead and play your Savannah Highmane, just as you normally would. Tol'vir Warden in no way reduces your ability to make that play. In fact, it increases it by thinning your deck. Maybe you even get another Highmane for turn 7.
Once we see more Elementals, I'm sure we'll be able to come up with even more interesting possibilities. (I'm not saying Ozruk is the best card ever, but he might be hard to deal with after you've already dropped a Highmane or two.)

Well, I haven't played hunter for at least half year at all and dusted all its cards long time ago, but previously it was my favourite class. And if to remember midrange gameplay, your thought are quite wise :) Topdecking some bat on T6 is a real pain for hunter. But anyway
Looks fair to me ,thats unfourtunatly most of the time not good enough for standard. Kind of a Small-Time Recruits attached to a 3/4 mana body.

I would have much rather had this than Small-Time Recruits for Buffadin. Both are bad cards for the already two worst classes.

Yeah - I'm not sure why it didn't get the beast tag (lore reasons aside). It's not like it would magically make it OP or anything.

Take a look at my card creations here in vojza's mini expansion topic.
Playable, but won't take back Hunter to tier 1 by it's own. Might even be related to the Quest (play X beast).
Show us more.
I didn't have a signature so Flux added one for me.

this is pure-aggro card. why it is 3/5 and not say 5/3? If it would be 5/4 it would be really playable.

"Why, you never expected justice from a company, did you? They have neither a soul to lose nor a body to kick." -- Lady Saba Holland
Tol'vir Warden
should have 5/4 body or be a beast at least)
It's good, 1 drops are OP in this game. It thins your deck and you get extra fuel with webspinner and 2 bodies with ugly cat/cute cat
You still wanna highmane t6 when possible and use the 1 drops to fill your curve holes
Problem is hunter is still bad early game and is too fair midgame so it really needs extra help to make it a good class in standart
Glaivezooka definitly helps that in wild.
