My first thought: This needs some amazing 1 drops to make it worthwhile.
Second thought: It draws the garbage out of your deck so you can topdeck more useful stuff. Might work in a midrangy or a control style deck. But then I look at the stats and th mana cost and I can't help it, I am not impressed at all.
I realize now that u can draw 1 drops for combo with Tundra Rhino. Still just a ok card that is bad because hunter is bad now and don't need it, but at least u can MEME with it. FeelsGoodMan
I see a lot of people are calling the card bad, but I think it is playable in a mid-range "curvestone" hunter deck
For one, mid-range hunter doesn't have too many good on curve 5 drops at the moment, one of which, Azure Drake, is rotating out.
Hunter is also losing most of its playable draw cards (Kings Elekk, Quick Shot, Azure Drake)
It also removes the possibility of top decking bad minions later in the game when you would rather top deck Call of the Wild, Highmane or some other big minion.
also remember draw 2 is potentially insane and is why Ancient of Lore got nerfed
People are making the assumption that you're going to empty your hand by turn 5 when you're playing hunter and your only options is playing 2 1 mana cards orSavannah Highmane . That's not how it works in midrange hunter , sure your optimal play is Highmane , but sometimes you have to saturate your mana using what you have in your hand , and 1 mana minions are excellent to do that ,
You can also runHoundmaster + 1 mana beasts to garantee an alternative decent turn 6 to Highmane
Pretty good for consistency, but that's not good enough for constructed.
I'd like to compare it to Mysterious Challenger. Both cards remove bad 1-cost topdecks from your deck, but Mysterious Challenger has much better stats, pulls more 1-drops, and immediately plays all of those 1-drops. Mysterious Challenger is currently outclassed even in Wild.
You like to compare this card with a card that has 6/6 body, protects himself and puts 5 cards in board? Wow... <snip>
Finally, a reliable Weasel Tunneler Reno-Counter deck archtype!
Nah just kidding. But this card so far is not good. A vanilla body on the board Turn 5 isn't what Hunter wants, and the one-drops to choose from once the new Standard Block rolls in are nothing special.
I'm banking my money on a new 1-drop to be revealed that will combo with this card.

It's 3/5 for 5 mana. It's not beast and it draws you two one drops, which is way too easy to remove. Rather there's some synergy with some cool new card or even Elise the Trailblazer is better 5 drop for Midrange Hunter than this card.

They will probably have to add some decent one drops if the quest is play X one drops.

Hunter dosen't have any good turn 5, and this is not a good one either, so it does NOT help. Next.
This draws out the garbage in your deck... So you need to put GARBAGE in your deck in order for this to work, and u will draw that garbage MANY MANY games before u draw this useless turn 5.
This is a joke, anyone thinking this has 1 chance of seing play is a joke. This card is not what the Hunters needed and Blizzard is retarded if the other cards and most important the quest follow this useless mechanic.
Here we have a hearthstone playing calling 1 mana minions garbage , Where have you been buddy ? did you play this game in the last 2 years ? overpowered 1 mana and 2 mana drops has been key to almost every dominant midrange \ aggro \ face deck , if you're playing any decent hunter deck you will likely to run 2 + 1 drops
You know what's worse (or better)? It's not even a beast. It's good if you have "hand-buff that targets beast". It's bad because you usually want Beasts...
This card is pretty bad. It's not 'draw 2 cards'. It's 'draw 2 MINIONS'. How many 1 cost minions do you really add into a midrange deck. You most likely only have one 1-cost minion left in your deck when you finally play this. No point in running 2 of those either because you'll never get value out of the second one. Also 1-cost minions are pretty useless by turn 6.
3/5 body is worth less than 3.5 mana so you pay 1.5-2 mana to maybe draw a card, but you also loose tempo and value and that's not something that midrange wants to do.
So yeah this card is useless and doesn't help hunter become viable at all.

I didn't have a signature so Flux added one for me.
Hunter currently tends to run 2 Alleycats and sometimes Fiery Bat. If a 3/5 body for 5 mana garantees that I won't topdeck those cards in the later stages of the game, i'm fine with that. People saying this card is crap possibly haven't played hunter in a while, but the last time I tried it, I ran 2x Tracking just to see if I could eliminate those early game minion topdecks in the late game. Can see most Midrange hunters running one copy of this card, tho I do think 2 copies is a bit overkill, as Hunter plays a fast midrange deck, and this is a slow card.
I think people are misunderstanding this a bit... it doesn't matter that you don't want 1 drops on turn 5. What this does, is assuming you're running about 3 one drops anyway, is get rid of any leftover 1 drops you have in your deck so the rest of your draws are better. It may seem back to play this on turn 5 and draw your fiery bat and alley cat, but imagine instead drawing those one at a time on later turns in a class that struggles to draw cards? You basically lose at that point.
This card is a sleeper. Drawing cards is very strong, especially specific cards (look at curator). I think this will see play in a more midrange hunter type. Never underestimate the power of drawing cards...
I'm not disagreeing with you that a tutor on a stick is cool... but drawing 1-drops on turn 5 seems underwhelming. I can see the argument this at least thins your deck out so you have better topdecks (topdecking Alleycat is absolutely awful that late in the game), but I'm not sure you're really winning if you're filling your hand with low-value drops and the stats for the mana aren't great.
I've put it as playable because I do think there's a niche this fits in, but it's pretty borderline bad to me. I'm curious if there's something cool yet to be announced that will make this look more appealing, I think it's at least a very neat design.
I think in a lot of classes, this is not a great card. But, if Midrange Hunter is playable, I think this is playable in that deck (probably as a 1 of) because:
- It fills a traditionally awful mana slot for the class. - It guarantees beast synergy as you transition into the mid and late game. - It's card draw in a class that has no card draw.
It's more about the class than it is the card in a vacuum.
Gimme dem 1 mana beasts so I can Skill Command face for 10 damage on turn 7.

Not a beast = unplayable trash.
