On turn 6, this card competes with Savannah Highmane. Guess who wins?
Playing this on turn 5 is too slow for a class with no taunt, AoE, heal, comback mechanism, infinite value or pirates. luls.
On turn 5 though, this competes with... Tundra Rhino? Avian Watcher? And assuming you a) don't have Highmane, and b) have 1-2 1-drops in your deck... this card gets you slightly closer to that. It's certainly got more potential than people are letting on, and we've seen 2 Hunter cards so far.
I'm personally on the fence about the card, but short of seeing the rest of the set and actually getting to play it in a deck I doubt people are correct in writing it off. Having a tutor effect attached to a body is a huge deal.
The problem with this this card is that its a hunter card. If it was a mage, shaman, priest or paladin it would be 10/10 because they
A) Have 1 mana cards that are good on turn 6+ (babbling book, wrym, cleric, trogg, divine shield synergy paladin). B) Have the cards to support a late game match-up, they can play a bad turn 5 because they can mass aoe or remove big threats. C) Most classes struggle to find good 5 mana cards, hunters actually have a lot of viable 5 drops.
Aggro hunter will not play this, you hope to end the game on turn 6/7/8, when those 1 manas wont matter. Mid-range hunter is just aggro-lite, they want to win on turns 8/9/10. While it might work, you are going to have to give up either a stranglethorn tiger or rhino, both of which have much more impact on the board. Deathrattles have huhuran on top of the above cards, and they don't want to have 1 mana's (firebats) as they eat into n'zoth's pool
Even if this card had draw 2 cards or "beast" it would be bad. Hunters can't give up the board as they have no comeback mechanic besides dump bigger minions. This card comes to late and with to little power to see play in hunter. Being 5/5 or even 5/4 would be the only thing that would make it playable.
Remember, even though azure drake was a must have in most decks, hunters barely ever played it because it was to slow. This is a worst azure drake without the dragon synergy (no curator synergy). Unless amazing control hunter cards are introduced (on par with equality/thunderstorms/Big cheap heals), this card is simply un-playable.
This (and so many retard overcosted hunter cards) is reason why hunter always choose face deck, 5 mana 3/5 draw 2 1 cost minions, what are you doing, Blizzard ?
Why dont make this 4 mana or have beast tag, with a class card i dont see any problem when you do this
Don't blame blizzard when the next 4-mana 7/7 appears if you constantly whine when a new card is revealed and it's actually not stupidly broken.
This card is actually decent, not game-breaking crazy like some people want every card to be.
The problem isn't the fact its statline sucks. The problem is that this card doesn't fit hunter at all. It doesn't synergize with anything hunters are about. Hunters have never been a "flood the board" type class which this card seems to be trying to support. It doesn't have beast synergy, it doesn't have premium attack stat (5/3). Where does this card seem hunterish to you?
The only aspect of this card that makes it hunter is the fact its a horribly specific draw that comes way to late and with way to little value. If this card was neutral, not one person would think "wow this should have been exclusive to hunters.".
As a former Yugioh player, I know how valuable card draw is. My initial reaction to this card was damn, Hunter got a decent card. But after some thinking, I am pretty much on the fence about this card. I'm sure hunter will get more 1 drops since other cards revealed got support for their effects. Even if they don't, drawing 2 cards thin your deck by 2 cards letting you reach the necessary pieces to win the game. On turn 9/10, you can drop Warden, draw 1-2 beast cards and Kill Command for the win.
Then I realized, you'd have to fill your deck with quite a few 1 drops to fully utilize it's effect, especially for a 5 drop. What would be the ideal amount? I wouldn't know and maybe someone can point it out. Secret Hunters can utilize this card with 2x Secretkeepers and if running the pirate package (wild), brings a total of 7 1 drops. I also refuse the believe they didn't make another hunter 1 drop that would synergize with this card.

"Hunters have never been a flood the board type class"
>Unleash the Hounds >CoTW
>Highmane
>Infested Wolf
>Creeper (Neutral, but was in every hunter deck)
>Desert Camel
>Rat Pack
>Snake Trap
>Alleycat
>On the Hunt
>Piranha Launcher
How exactly are they not about swarming the board? Out of that set of cards, 5-6 are staples, and 2 of the remaining get teched into decks.

Piranha launcher is shit and he means flooding it by playing multiple cards at the same turn not the card effects Hunter cannot flood the board because of lacking card draw so only option is playing on curve
IDK why people are judging a card that quite heavily depends on other ones we are yet to see. Also, having one slow turn does not necessarily mean that you instantly lose the game.
What's so bad about this card? The main thing in Hearthstone needed to be fixed is RNG chaos and this card provides some sort of controllable chaos in card draw for Hunter. They need their spell and Houndmaster activators, remember?

I think it'd be more optimal if it were a 3 or 4-cost card (with adjusted stats). A lot of people might find the 1-drops not worth it in the later game.
If it were a lower-cost card than 3, I think it'd be too aggro-pushy and I think Hunter needs more cards than just those optimal for aggro.

This is probably not gonna see play in constructed.

Hunter quest reward: all minions in your deck now cost 1 mana LUL
this card is too strong should be 9 mana!

I think we can't determine how strong it is before knowing the hunter's un'goro quest.

Kind of an awkward play for turn 5 but I don't think it's completely unusable...probably better for arena?

"Card Draw For Hunter"
That'll do, Huffer. That'll do.
Good insight, kind sir
