And how many times have you Frostbolted a 3/2 on turn 2?
That's a very good argument.
I mean, this in arena is gonna be good, but even in constructed is good. You are paying 3 mana to summon a 1/2 that does 2 damage, there is the normal card's.
Its way better than that because it will enable elemental synergies!
In my opinion this is a arena card, little of damage, get a small body... great for early control of the board in arena but it wont do the cut in constructed.

Except it's better than 3 cost because it's 2 cost...it's not as if you could play a 3 cost 1/2 on 3

It's clearly tied to elemental synergy and the mage quest which will most likely be to summon elementals. Only rated playable as I'm assuming mage quest is elemental summoning. Otherwise, yes, it's bad.
I like this card. it is priced correctly, dealing 2 damage is worth 1 mana and the 1/2 elemental is worth 1 mana and because it is an elemental it will help with synergy with other elementals. The card is balanced, but it seems like any new cards get hated on here unless it is blatantly OP as hell. I like balanced cards like this. We need more balanced cards, not overpowered stupidity, look what happened in the last expansion with pre nerf small time buccaneer and jade idol.
The problem is there are a lot of blatantly OP one and two drops. A 1/2 tribal card is an unplayably bad one drop without a blatantly OP card to benefit off of it.
People judge cards against what is in the game and with 2/2 tribal cards and 1/3 cards that can grow plus all the other powerful one drops a 1/2 is not good.
Blizzard needs to clean out the one and two drops either by massive patch changes or by not printing any actually good ones for a year.
I'm wondering if they'll also add another ping. Evokedkobold may see more play
Excellent for an Elemental deck. The comparison I want to make is to Disciple of C'Thun. You get the same amount of damage, you get slightly similar stats, and instead of a C'Thun buff you get an Elemental buff. The big difference is that you can keep the token in your hand until you need it, something that was often a problem with the Disciple. You often had to play it for the damage and watch it die for free. This also gives you a smoother curve since this can be either a turn 2 or turn 3 play.
Overall a really solid and flexible card. Direct damage is not to be underestimated.
It's garbage, the 1 mana 1/2 is useless for mage. It's useless in control, useless in tempo and useless in freeze.
Mage doesnt care about spawning garbage minions to try to boost them. We're not paladin !
if the 1 mana card was 1 mana spell summon a 1/2 elemental then it would be playable because more spell synergy for tempo (at least in wild to make use of flamewaker)

This is a much worse frostbolt or flamecanon
Just wait until mage quest will be revealed "summon x elementals. Its also great for elemental synergie, its not garbage, if that archetype will be a thing in mage!
I see this as a card for those turns where you wish that your hero power did 2 damage instead of 1. The elemental card that it generates can then be used to smooth out your curve, and for elemental synergy. I think it's a good card.
People are just shitting on it because it's not some OP garbage. Not everything in this game needs to be (or should be) broken beyond belief. Flame Geyser Is a fairly priced card for the effect, and that's the direction that this game should be going in.
What's funny is this is exact kind of card Rogues would get except it would say:
Deal 2 damage. Combo: Add a 1/2 Elemental to your hand.
God forbid rogues get a card that does 2 things without using a damn combo.
seriously. Shaman has jade lightning, rogue has shit shuriken...
which could potentially be a 7/7 Jade for 2 mana, god forbid they had to cast someting else first..
Jade Rogue still lives, I play it and beat Shamans all the time, and the 2 damage is more than enough to kill off their irritating taunt totem, so its fine :)
I was thinking about the application of this card in a Freeze Mage shell. Since we're losing Ice Lance the deck is going to be lacking in burst and although weaker could prove useful for getting those last few points of damage in combination with cards like Evolved Kobold.
My thought was the deck existed prior to Emperor Thaurissan and Forgotten Torch being introduced so it could exist after they were gone. I'm unsure (as most of us are) of whether it can survive the Ice Lance rotation though. Flame Geyser could salvage some of the burst that will be lost when Ice Lance leaves the format. Until we've seen the new cards and tested those which fit the Freeze archetype we shouldn't declare Freeze Mage a wild only deck.
So if this gives you half an elemental, are there other sources to get another half? 4 pages and this joke wasn't made, am disappoint. Bunch of jocks in here.

Yo
Not......really impressive at all.

Freeze will probably be dead after rotation with the losses of Emperor Thaurissan, Ice Lance, and Forgotten Torch.
This is a card meant to control the early game, and I think it will do a fine job of that. Elemental decks will run it, others probably won't.

OK, but does anyone think that Flame Elemental looks a little familiar...?

I think Freeze Mage losing Emperor Thaurissan, Ice Lance, and Forgotten Torch will pretty much kill the deck unless Mage gets another Fireball-level burn spell in this expansion.
