Kill your 1/1, gain 1/1 stats, omg new totem golem guyz. Really nice fookin' logic ya got there mates. Rank 25 chat i swear, if people have to explain to you why killing your own 1/1 as a best case scenario to just get 1/1 worth of stats in return; if people have to explain to you why that does essentially nothing, you're a lost cause, christ.
I like that there's a card included in the preview that will help stop pirate warrior - but this sort of solution is 'too easy' IMO. Not only that, but while it's too easy against pirate warrior, it's trash everywhere else.
As far as pure tech cards are concerned this is completely acceptable. Its not as tough to slot as something like the Keezan Mystic or BGH but at the same time its far too niche to call this well designed by any stretch of the imagination.
This card exists for a very specific future meta that may not even become viable post un'goro with this cards help. I don't blame Blizzard for making this card but it strikes me as far too niche. A card like this that techs against each Mean Street Faction might be appealing (anti-highlander, goon and Jade) but going after pirates seems weak long term.
I don't care how popular Finja gets, no one wants to run the crab counter. Likewise no one wants to play Hemet as a Beast counter. These aren't cleaver or fun answers to problems.
if the battlecry says "distroy enemy pirate and gain +1/+1" I think it would be better,
pirate decks now got their own totem golem
You need to sacrifice your own minion to do it though.. which is bad
1/1 +2/3 is better most of the time than a 3/4...
it's not a good use of the card it's more a tech against pirates.. which came waaay too late was it hard to just give this card to everyone in gadgetzan?
Is nice to see a tech card against Pirates, but really, they power level stills ridiculous even after STB nerf, just in thinking that like: 1/3 of your deck should be techs just to survive pirates is nuts, you need healing, taunts, weapon removal, maybe even this crab now and some luck to survive the aggro meta. I think their weapons with upgrades is the problem. So bad that we can't make competitive decks without anti-aggro tolls to survive. Well, let's just wait to see what more un'goro can offer...
Won't see play, but the threat of this card is enough to slow pirate warrior. Blizz just added and previewed it to throw us a bone.
More likely it's the taunts that they are adding that'll really slow PW. My fear is that they threw us a bone by previewing all the taunt minions in the x-pac now as well.
Lol why are there so many people thinking this is good to play IN Pirate Warrior? Firstly, killing your own 1/1 to gain +1/+1 is not strong or even a tempo gain. You literally have the same amount of stats in play as if you played a River Crocolisk. Secondly you HAVE to kill a pirate with it when you play it making it a dead card most of time since you will have to lose tempo by destroying your own Pirate. This card is maybe used as a 1 of tech card if Pirates are popular after rotation but this is no "Pirate Totem Golem" lol.
It'll be a meta defining card for all the fuckin' wrong reasons... its essentially another Big Game Hunter - a card that stumped the game for litteral years and they made ANOTHER one at this point.
I don't usually hate on Team 5 but this time around... fuck 'em for making a card who's existence is to just pander to the fuckers who think verbal abuse is the way to go as opposed to sane and reasonable logical thinking.
There's no way this isn't a joke post, right? We've had cards like this for years... we've got one that counters Beasts, one that counters Murlocs, it's hardly BGH levels of problem. It's like you're ignoring what made BGH strong in the first place - a low mana cost card that dealt with a very high mana cost card... 99% of pirates are very low cost and all the played ones are.
Also the hating on verbal abuse in a post where you abuse Team 5 is pretty entertaining, kudos.
This will see play as a 1 or 2 of in midrange hunter for sure. Pirate warrior isn't losing any cards , so they will stick around for sure and hunters have a bad time dealing with pirate warrior first few turns.
Also, people who say this will see play in pirate warrior are completely wrong. This is AT BEST, a Mark of the Wild that gives 1 extra hp, but 2 attack doesn't have "charge", and that's only if you use it on patches or nzoth's first mate. You don't want to be forced to eat your bloodsail cultist, captain or Naga corsair with this ever, so it becomes a dead card in a deck designed to use all of its cards by turn 5-6 and kill you. It is also a horrible top deck when you are trying to end the game.
Thank you, at least some people seem to understand the drawback of using this in your own pirate deck to make a 3/4. What if you, for example, only have a Southsea Captain on the board and you draw this?
I don't understand how can so many people think this is meta defining. This would not be useful even few months ago when pirate warrior was at its best. It is a completely dead card when not facing pirates which was like 75% of time even then. What exactly would you replace this for in your deck so you could still have chance against anything non-pirate. Good 2 drop is quite important.

RIP Patches!
2 mana 2/3 doing nothing it is. FailFish to all of you "meta-definings", yeah.
Only becomes a Totem Golem once it takes down a pirate. Otherwise, this is a waste of deck space.
This is one of those cards you hope other players will include in their decks so that you don't have to run it.

Destroying your own 1/1 isn't even good.
