Ice Block is one of the most interesting, well-designed cards in the entire game, and it's also the card with single highest number of counters in the entire game. Why should it be removed from Standard?
If they killed Ice Block, there would literally be no viable Mage decks in Standard. Now that Flamewaker is Wild, Tempo Mage is basically dead. All control Mages require Ice Block to survive, and Aggro Mage needs a secret of some kind for most of their cards to work, and Ice Block is the longest lasting one.
Ice Block isn't cancerous. Yes, its annoying to play against but it has several counters and is the core of many mage decks. Taking it out would kill mage.

That's an interesting way of spelling Patches the Pirate.
I don't understand how people say there are counters to Ice Block. Ice Block was already essentially the mage quest. It's another turn in the bank for 3 mana. Fuck this card. Very restrictive for design space and combo decks IMO.
I run Eater of Secrets in any deck that has trouble finishing mages. May not be optimal, but it certainly is fun to watch their precious safety blankets leave the table and punch them for an easy lethal.
I played Control Warrior consistently throughout Karazhan and Gadgetzan metas running 1x Eater of Secrets literally only because of Ice Block. But if you for one second believe these cards are viable enough to put in any deck solely to counter Ice Block, you're severely delusional. Tech Cards do not solve problems in the meta.

I've just found that I'm facing a whole lot of mages, any Paladin list now contains 2 hydrologists, and midrange hunter occasionally puts a secret on the board. It's in there mainly for Ice Block, but has proven to not be the only thing it's good for. It largely wins me one matchup for a popular deck on it's own, and does some work against two other popular decks. I think it's good enough to include in some decks that have the space for tech cards.
I would like to see ice block rotate out if only to force mage decks to play a more interactive deck type instead of just stall stall stall. There are definitely other types of mage decks out there.
ice block only make people survive extra 1 turn. What is the prob? And new freeze mage also very inconsistence.
the toxic player will only stop complain when HS become arena value games. So, they can put 30 legendary in deck to outvalue the newbie and f2p.
The main problem people have is how consistent Ice Block has become. Arcanologist has increased the consistency of drawing the card to a whole new level, Primordial Glyph has allowed for a potential *4* ice blocks, before counting cards like Babbling Book and Cabalist's Tome's tendency to also give Ice Block.
Mages now have a window of 2-4 safe burst turns to get you down, which I admit is very frustrating.
Thing is, all that aside, I don't actually agree the card should enter the Hall of Fame. It's almost single-handedly responsible for Mage's play style and it *is* a well designed card. I feel like removing it without a ton of mage support being added would seriously damage the class.
With control priest don't lose a single game vs this new "freeze" mage.
Heal hard after Alex and the opponent don't have how to kill you.
I played 5 times vs this deck, probably is better than Exodia mage vs other decks, I can't win vs Exodia mage playing priest.
Sure, let's take away the only good Mage secret in the game.

Make the Card: The biggest thread on the site!
My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.

Ok but it objectively counters Ice Block tho.
HS community really toxic.
complain about all the card when loses.

Because people need reasons to hate us Mages, obviously.

One of the biggest offenders in terms of game health. Really needs to go Hall of Fame.
