"Azure Drake is a strong Neutral card that ended up being a bit too versatile, and thus became one of the most played cards in the game. There should be more five drop options for players, rather than considering Azure Drake an auto-include."
This is disappointing simply because this card was a great utilitarian include but not over powered. Any good deck synergy five drops would have pushed it out of its slot. Instead of simply printing better five cost cards they are pushing it out of standard entirely. This wouldn't be a huge deal if it was not one of the few cheap good plug in cards for new players. I feel like removing azure drake from standard just makes it that much harder for new players to compete.
Unless you post source... I am calling bullshit on these posts. I recall reading a rant from someone on one site or the other that seem to me as the exact rant you are quoting on all of your "...is rotating to Wild" posts.

This is exactly why it's the right move. Like pre-nerf Novice Engineer, there was simply no downside to playing it. No one would argue Novice Engineer was broken, but it was too ubiquitous. Ditto for Azure.
And good synergy 5 drops were being pushed out. Basically Belcher (busted), Loatheb (busted) and Thunder Bluff are the only 5 drops that saw legitimate play instead.
Bliz gotta make at least a few solid 5-drops tho. Azure Drake was auto-include in a lot of decks, not just because other 5-drops are often mediocre, but because it does everything. Solid body. Card cycle. Spellpower. Plus the Dragon tribe, too. Some classes will probably be fine. Druid, for example, can put Druid of the Claw back into decks. Not all other classes will be as lucky in existing 5-drops.
But also keep in mind: Azure Drake probably crowded out a lot of 4 and 6 drops too. It really was that good. I mean, before MSoG, Midrange shaman sometimes didn't run *ANY* 4 drops, or maybe just Barnes.

I do appreciate you posting the link. It was a very interesting and insightful article with much more exciting topics than just the rotation of Classic cards.
Unsure why the moderator just didn't post the link, along with the "rotating out" posts, to begin with...

Needs to go. Will really shake up the metagame with this card leaving. I would say there should probably be some new card draw options in the next set to make up for it though. There arn't many good neutral card draw cards. For instance, trying to build control hunter the only real package for card draw is 2x King's Elekk. 2x Azure Drake, and The Curator. (I know lol control hunter but I like playing unique decks)
This makes me sad, but it's understandable. The combination of 4/4 body, spell damage, and card draw for only 5 mana made it one of the most efficient mid game minions in the game. It's also a card that's pretty much impossible to replace, since I think the only other minion that combines card draw and spell damage is thalnos.

I provably should have included the link. Sorry for the confusion. When we (mods) make threads with such bold statements it's always from secure and confirmed sources. If it's just a rumor and nothing we can confirm we make it very clear that it's unconfirmed :D

Not a surprise.
Is it official? If not change please the clickbait title to a more appropriate question
FOR THE HORDE!
This was an excellent decision. I'm so glad they didn't nerf this card.
Good change.
