For those of you that have been around since before Standard, what are your thoughts on the comparisons between Small-Time Buccaneer and Cogmaster?
Personally I have been running Mech Mage in wild and I feel like Cogmaster is just as good, if not better than Small-Time Buccaneer because you are more likely to have Mechs than to have Weapons. What are your thoughts?
I disagree. It's not unlikely you'll have a weapon on turn 2 for Warriors and Rogues, and mechs are much easier to deal with. If you have control of the board later in the game for example, it's generally not too hard to trade away their mechs and then the 1/2 (especially with any destruction. Even early game this applies). Unless you have ooze though, it's easy for them to keep buccaneer as a 3/2.
The difference is weapon classes, especially Warrior and Rogue. There is no "equip a mech" hero power. Its a lot easier to get rid of any other mechs on the board than it is to get rid of your opponents weapon.
Instead of stb, they should Nerf patches so everyone gets their dust back. This is blizzards mistake, why should players be punished for it?
They noted that Patches is not the problem. I think an appropriate nerf would be dropping STB to one health, and keep the card the same. Summoning a boar for free isn't too crazy.

They are also a bunch of liars who are only interested in getting their hands in our collective pocket. they obviously are primarily interested in avoiding a big dust refund rather than admitting their mistakes.
it's also debatable whether patches or stb is a bigger problem. patches is a lot easier to Nerf without destroying the card. remove charge. done.

The amount of people who actually believe this is too damn high.
You are not just summoning patches "for free" in terms of mana cost. You are not spending cards, nor mana, and as a small added bonus, you are also improving the deck's consistency slightly by removing patches from the deck when you summon it. It's as if buccaneer(and every other pirate played on turn one) had "Battlecry: summon a 1/1 with charge", purely due to the fact patches exists. Even in the worst case scenario where you get it with southsea, that's still 3/2 of stats you have put on the board for one mana and by spending one card. And this isn't even taking the charge into account.

That might be the most obvious nerf, but I still see people running the card on every pirate deck even without charge.
I remember when mech mage was everywhere but I don't remember playing a mech mage who was able to do 8 damage while having a 3/2, 1/1 and a 3-1 weapon on turn 2... The problem is Blizzard keeps trying to force decks that don't work then one or two cards are able to push it was over the edge. Everyone knows Fiery War Axe is a good card but 99% of the time it was used to clear 1 and 2 drops, then they release STB and it becomes a 2 mana fireball that also has the abusive sergeant effect.
They aren't similar at all, STB is a weapon-synergy pirate, cog master is a mech-synergy basic minion. Cogmaster requires you to hit a certain density of low cost mechs in your deck. On the other hand, STB only requires you to hit a high density of cheap weapons, many of which are the best cards in the game (War Axe, Glaivezooka, Eaglehorn Bow, Jade Claws, Spirit Claws). Another issue is that Patches requires only a very low density of pirates to be effective, so the pirate package has ended up being 2 x STB, 2 x Southsea Deckhand, 2 x Bloodsail Raider, Patches. So running seven pirates and a grand total of 1 pirate synergy card makes you a pirate deck.

They have mentioned that they *might* nerf Small-Time Buccaneer, if they do, should they also nerf Cogmaster?
STB is better because Patches exists. Also, minions can be removed easily by spells, but weapons are harder to remove.

Cogito ergo sum
I still would rather take three turns of patches damage than three turns of stb. Suit yourself though
Cogito ergo sum
WTF deck are you running that you can't remove a 2 health minion for 4 turns?
Make STB equal to cogmaster, but for pirates.
But patches? Yeah, but remove it at also the new STB would be useless until new pirates are summoned. Which is not so obvious even in Pirate Warrior.
Cogmaster is already not a mech and so in that regard it can be viewed as already nerfed.
Removing the pirate tag in the same way would go a long way.
If cogmaster was a mech though. I still don't think it will be played as much in mech decks as it is in pirate decks.
Wished to be pink.
Then did.
Then fired myself.
Then did again.

OP clearly doesn't have any idea what he is talking about.
