Even if the card is't overpowered its unfun and on its own nearly kills off an entire deck archetype and should be nerfed
however I think part of the reason why blizzard printed this is because they do want to kill off the super heavy control decks that make for boring and frustrating games against new players and a snooze fest for competitive play and encourage a control deck that actually has a game plan for winning that isn't "remove everything"
A thought occurred to me whilst reading through and listening to what players of varying skill had to say. About the upcoming (and current) position of Jade Idol in the meta.
Right now, Jade druid is considered a top tier 2 deck, or lower tier 1 deck. Simply outclassing all other control decks and only struggling against aggro.
What if the card cost increased with each use? Starting as a 0-mana spell, then after the first use, it now costs 1. Then it costs 2 and so on.. Would that make it a fairer card? Capping at 11 uses unless you had any form of spell cost reduction.
This would enable fatigue styles again to have a chance, whilst it would still be strong against some midrange and several control decks. And it would actually make it slightly more resilient against the aggro decks.
Also, if the meta slows down with the new expansion, that seems to be a beneficial thing for the deck.

What do you think?
Jade druid is nowhere near bottom tier1/ top tier 2. It would be more likely to be bottom tier 2. Pirate Warrior, Water Rogue, Renolock and Aggro Shaman( which has once again become really popular at higher ranks) do well against Jade druid, not to mention zoolock eats Jade druid for breakfast and Dragon priest can also easily outtempo it. And when you play a fatigue deck, it is highly unlikely that you run into Jade druid every game with the prevalence of more popular decks on ladder.
Blizzard will only see Jade idol as a problem if it gimps the ability of quest decks to function, which is highly unlikely because quest rewards come online way before you can attempt to go infinite with Jade idol and can possibly help you turn the corner faster against jades by providing you with a legit win condition
Many pros and streamers have made videos specifically complaining about the idol. Threads calling for its nerf far surpass any other calls for nerfs since huntertaker, here and on reddit.
Jade idol is extremely unfun to play against: it mixes the inevitability of playing against the biggest C'Thun ever with good tempo taking off on turns 6 or even earlier, if they draw the nuts. They don't have too high a winrate because its counters are a big chunk of the meta, but decks that would counter aggro with a 65% winrate cannot existe when 10-15% of the decks played counter those with a 90% rate (see Renomage).
The mist disturbing thing tough is that you are playing for like 20-almost 30 turns and you know that Druid will win with that. I won't really support this for 1 whole year until jade idol rotates out of standard :(
I'd nerf it like that that you won't be able to create any more jade idols after playing the very first one. The copies will just generate the normal jade golems without the possibility to create more cards. Seems fine to me
Jade Idol is really one of the cases where Blizzard needs to stop touting their mistakes as good designs and stop talking about how "balanced" they think it is, and just admit the community fucking hates it and nerf it. Sometimes game decisions need to be made not just on statistics but about what the community wants. Fuck Jade archetype and fuck Jade Idol.

The hearthpwn community clearly doesn't want it nerfed since 51,6% of the votes is for "no". But getting what the community wants isn't really what you're after, it's getting what you want.
Or maybe the time this poll was made no1 rly cared?
Whats more Jade Idol is only broken against fatigue decks. Although kazakus warlock will have gib problem defeating jade druid it is doable. Its worse in case of kazakus mage.
I myself play most often midrange decks and i dont care about this card as i dont find it problematic.
TBH i prefer to lose on turn 10 or 12 then wait until fatigue.
The only 2 reasons I can think of why so many people voted "no" is: 1) those are monkies that keep playing Pirate Warrior so they dont bother, as they kill everyone in T5 (lol control, lol me face) 2) they play Jade Druid themselves, as they enjoy auto pilot deck, just as dumb as PW but i guess they didn't get Patches and dont want to craft it
I voted no, simply because I don't see a reason why it should be nerfed. It counters fatigue and heavy control decks without burst, so what? This damn entitlement that people feel they should have the right not to be countered on ladder is f***ing mind-blowin.
I used to play a lot of freeze mage, you didn't see me whining like a spoiled little brat that control warrior was ruining my fun and that it should be nerfed. It hard countered me and I accepted it.

The only Kazakus deck that has a close to 50% winrate against Jade Druid is Renolock, when it's running a 20 damage combo.

Actually, the real reason for it is because it was made way back when MSoG was recently launched and people started complaining about it without having that much time in the game already. I was one of the people that though Jade Idol was ok and pretty balanced back in the day when we didn't knew about Un'Goro or the Hall of Fame cards. I Played mostly Control Warrior, Renolock, Midrange Shaman and Dragon Priest during that time and my winrate against Jade Druid was pretty good. Right now I am a bit concerned if Jade Druid will truly kill any other control decks in the Un'Goro meta, but anyways we cannot tell for sure until we play enough with the Un'Goro cards and see how the meta would really be.
Remember when there was people complaining about secret paladin being a pain in the ass even when they knew Avenge was rotating out? Perhaps it's the same case here. Brann Bronzebeard, Azure Drake and Living Roots are rotating out, plus we haven't played yet with the new cards and we are not yet sure if maybe it will appear something that kills Jade Druid for sure, just like Jade Decks/Jade Druid killed C'Thun decks. What I'm trying to say is to not jump into conclusions yet, let's play and test the new cards. I'm still a bit concerned that making any other control deck not viable because of Jade Druid is a reality but we cannot tell for sure quite yet.
Reading all those comments, understanding other people's concerns - I cannot do anything but agree (with both sides).
I'm one of those people, that voted Yes. My deck was renolock (how original, i know), it had some cards against aggro, against jade and so on, but it was really annoying how I used my big removals just to clear their beefy jades and see on the following turn how they summoned even more. Infinite value vs finite removal + the abusive combo with Auctioneer. Now, I'm not going to post a salty thread here - people said, what it should have been said. I will just mention, that the last expansion was a big abomination for all of us - so many few decks were played, we knew from the start about our opponent's deck and if we had a chance to win or not. It was terrible - monotonous, boring, nothing new to experiment with. There was no hunter, no paladin, not to mention the most played decks were aggro, jade, reno, dragon. We couldn't see enough from the goons, we couldn't see (let's say) murloc shaman or Nzoth something, etc. But nevertheless I will just put it down: This expansion, even as a disaster, can lead to something better. The reason I'm saying this is because blizz should learn from their mistakes and try to prevent future ones. I'm kinda optimistic, but what can I do?

The thing is Jade Druid looks faster than most quest decks and it's only losing a few cards. It can turn out either way, but its main problem is that there can never be a slower deck in Hearthstone, ever, no matter what you tech in, unless it gets powercreeped (which would also be bad for the game).
Kraphomus: The thing is Jade Druid looks faster than most quest decks and it's only losing a few cards.
Wait...what? Do you seriously think that Jdruid is faster than Hunter, Shaman or Discolock? Did you played one of this decks already?
I don't think that Jdruid will be faster than this and i doubt Jdruid will be faster than Warrior or Rogue with quest, but i am not 100% certain about Warrior. And i don't need to mention hyper-aggro-patches-warrior.
It would seem it's pretty pointless to argue with someone as dead set on how wonderful the idol is as you, but I'd argue that being a card behind will make the shaman quest not quite as fast. As for a non quest discolock, well, it's zoo, so it is pretty damn fast. I don't know what kind of Jade druids you face, but they consistently out tempo anything past turns 7/8, sometimes earlier if they draw the nuts.

If jade druid is faster than most quest decks then jade druid isn't their main problem, aggro is.
Jade druid is losing Living Roots, Brann Bronzebeard (though not actually needed ever in the deck), Azure Drake and Mulch. So druid will be way worse against aggro, they lack an effective spellpower swipe alternative (Yes you can play Bloodmage Thalnos or Evolved Kobold, but it's not the same). Losing Mulch also means that they have pretty much no single target removal for anything after early-/midgame.
You actually can play a slower deck, it just can't be aimed at slowly out-valuing your opponent. It needs to have tempo swing-potential, which druid completely lack. If you don't want to play a deck like that, then you're just gonna have to accept that you lose against jade druid, until jades rotate.
Just 1 jade isol in your deck and you CANNOT go fatique, so control decks cannot outvalue them

OP tired of playing Shaman and Pirate war, not succeeding with other decks because Jade Druid is forcing you to play other decks, not netdecks?
Such a pity for this community ....makes me sick!
How is druid going to remove big threats in Ungoro? With naturalize ? Lol
By trading inifinite giant jades into them.
Must be two mana or just put 3 cards in to deck that summons jade golem
