You guys are living in dream land. How often do you think you'll even get to play the 5 mana 10/10? probably only 1/5 maybe 1/4 times after the 5/5 deathrattle goes off, optimistically. That means roughly 80% of the time you play White Eyes you're just playing a subpar 5/5 for 5.
Borderline playable, at best, possibly a decent addition to control shaman but it won't push it into the competitive sphere.
This card would be insane in warrior, but I don't know how good it will work on Shaman, unless you make a deck around him
I think even in control warrior it would be bad. Reminds me a lot of Iron Juggernaut, another card that was overvalued. (although I will say this card is definitely superior to Juggernaut)
I see how blizzard operates now. They wait for the bad news until the end so they don't have to deal with the hate as long. It happened with Karazhan (priest) and now we're getting the bad news that shaman is still #1 and will always be #1 (oh and that rogue isn't getting any meta defining cards [shout out combo Youthful Brewmaster.) Well, I'm ready for another four months of wild control warrior and freeze mage yay :(
Edit: I forgot to mention the overcompensation of kazakus-reno mage with polymorph and polymorph boar, and to complete the triangle, good old control warrior.

Why are people calling this a "sub par 5/5 for 5"? It's a 5/5 taunt. Fen Creeper is the baseline, and it has a better stat line than it. Taunt matters. See Thing from Below for proof. And just because this card isn't as ridiculous as Thing From Below doesn't make it "sub par" even if you don't get the second card.
Lol at peeps saying they'll insta craft this mediocrity. You guys do realise that blizzard is really good at this right? As in, making cards that seem op, op so people craft them without thinking and waste dust. At least aviana made for some interesting deck building
The card is really good. Honestly I didn't think too much to mid-shaman well because I don't know how strong the current version will be once the expansion come out; one thing though is that IF the card was playable now the matchup midshaman vs CW would become easier than it is now (the matchup is circa 50-50) .
When all the cards will come out we will see if the archetypes wich can use this card will be in the tier 1 or 2 compared to the new strong decks the expansion will bring. In this moment the N'zoth shaman seems the strongest deck, but is really dependant on Healing Wave ; what I mean is that to be a viable control N'zoth it can't rely only on good minions but it must have life sustainability ( Warrior has armor+ whatever that gives him a lot of time to develope the game plan; Paladin same concept with IVory, ragnaros, forbidden etc. only different execution compared to Warrior). Now 14 hp (because you don't count the fact that maybe you hit the joust) is not enough and Hallazeal the Ascended + spells seems really too slow. For this reason I think maybe a reno shaman could be a pleasant surprise, considering that the expansion will bring a couple of very good neutral minions that can be used as 1 of.
Honestly I will be pretty surprised if this card won't become a staple in his arcetype.

Oh, how much you know and enlighten us with your superior knowledge of the game; we are so lucky to have you among us. They should give you a medal! I don't know what we would do without you!! You mean we shouldn't craft any card that we like and think would be good in our decks?! Blizzard is trying to TRICK US!??!!?? WOOOOW, thank you, sir!!! Thank you for this piece of important information!! Woooo, everything makes sense now! Seems like world hunger is solved after your words. Terrorists now get the real meaning of life while reading your thoughts!!!

Fen Creeper isn't baseline, it didn't even see play in vanilla when stuff like Sen'jin and Yeti were being played. Even Druid of the Claw doesn't see play anymore, and if it does it's 90% in charge form because a 4/6 taunt for 5 mana is bad, and a 5/5 taunt is arguably worse.
Is it just me, or is shaman going to be fun as hell post-rotation? The only card we're losing for control/crusher shaman is elemental destruction, but now we have devolve and maelstrom portal since the last time control shaman was prevalent. And we also get the inevitable batch of good shaman cards when the adventure hits (hopefully we get stuff blizz plz don't make shaman paladin 2.0). Can you imagine, a shaman class that is control oriented?
Good in control shaman, bad in midrange, the battlecry only comes up in games where you have time to draw into it and have time to play a 5/5 taunt on turn 5 and then pay 5 again later for another card that is bad vs removal. Definetly won't see play in midrange shaman.
Blizzard was obviously worried about the fact that Midrange Shaman is ubiquitous right now and it doesn't allow other decks to shine.
This card, plus others in this expansion, will result in N'Zoth Shaman and Control Shaman being played in much greater numbers and promote better variety in the meta.

My actual N'Zoth Shaman crushes midrange. I think it's going to be even better when Meme Streets hits,

Control Shaman will like this card:
Man Iogged in for the first time in months, just to comment how ridiculous powerful this card is. It's THE perfect mid-range card.
Control Meta confirmed

by "sees play", I mean competitively, not in rank 10 beast druid decks.

Time to run The Black Knight again
Experimenting with new decks is my passion , even if i make a couple bad decks i will not stop.

Shaman needed a taunt badly. They have no taunts in their class. 0 mana 5/5 taunt is not good enough so they need a 10/10 taunt also.
Meanwhile rogue gets worse panda.
Uncounterable logic 10/10
