interesting card, not too good and not too bad, it alone dont clean the board but soften it, and it totally whecks a deathrattle board, forget value minions T_T. Gotta see how it will fares, funny and annoyng at very least.
ED: just as i think of evolve, this is cheap too, this should cost 3 mana, evolve 4.
This is a 2-mana bad hex. It's a great card for heavy control even if it just hits sylvannas or a rag or even a murloc war-leader. It's also great against that 4-mana 7-7 (not that it's played that often)
This is the kind of Shaman card I hope to see more of. It promotes slower play (IE AOE synergy) and doesn't really fit into aggro decks (Doesn't really do anything to hurt the board other than maybe silence a taunt), and majorly screws over any aggro decks its played against (A board of 2- and 3- cost minions devolved is considerably worse than a couple of 4- or 5- drops devolved). Overall, I like this card, and I hope it does something to kill aggro.
Very simmilar to Mass Dispel, which never saw any play. Cool card-design, though.
In most cases, it will act as a much cheaper Mass Dispel (without the card draw, which was never a major selling point in the first place).
The cost is what keeps Mass Dispel on the bench. Devolve actually has a place in Evolve token-style decks because it helps you maintain board control even better. The fact that it wrecks zoo in ways that Lightning Storm alone never could just makes it all the better.
As long as Zoo have a board it won't be 'wrecked', even if you reduce all of them to Wisp-level cards. That's why Imp-losion and Forbidden Ritual saw play in the archetype. You still have buff and burst from hand as long as you have board presence.
Aside from DR and DS minions actually Lightning Storm will always deal with a swarm better than this card. At least in a stand alone scenario. You can indeed combo Devolve followed by real AoE, just don't know if its worth.
Lightning Storm costs 5 mana; Devolve costs 2. Lightning Storm does not kill Imp Gang Boss without help; it also generates an imp. Lightning Storm doesn't silence a Darkshire Councilman, one of zoo's biggest threats. Lightning Storm doesn't un-Taunt (and shrink) minions that were hit by Defender of Argus. Lightning Storm doesn't turn a Sea Giant into Majordomo Executus.
Devolve costs 2 mana but unless you have something to follow up it won't clear the board by itself. So the mana cost is a moot point.
Just as your whole reply, actually.
If you don't have a follow up play your opponent will just buff his Wisps with Defender of Argus, play cheap Sea Giants, or trigger Gormokk - all of this is an easy deal as long as Zoo still keeps its board presence.
At critical turns it won't make much of a difference wether it is an Imp Gang Boss or a Wisp if your opponent can double PO it. Aside from critical scenarios, I'd still prefer to left an 1/1 Imp on the board than rely on RNG for a bad 2 drop in Devolve x IGB case.
Honestly, Devolve has a cool design and will be an ok card. But it is particularly pretty bad against board centered aggro decks.
This card is OP. Transform effect is too powerful for 2 mana. (Compare it to Mass Dispel.) Not only completele counter deathrattle strategy, but have high chance to turn any vanila/deathrattle minion to battlecry (understatted) minion. And it is for shaman. With his Hex. C'mon!
2 mana is too much for an effect that doesn't even clear the board.
2 mana for a hard counter to n'zoth, one of the strongest deck types in existence. Yup, definitely too much.
It's not a hard counter unless you clear it with Elemental D afterwards, turning N'zoth into a 9 drop and sylv/cairne into 5 drops still means they have a substantial board. Unless you run the Devolve on Sylv and Cairne pre N'zoth in which case you still need extra removal for the 5 drops.
I don't think you have ever played control shaman. Forget midrange, this card is for control decks
Control Shaman lists are very full atm, since you need to run so many clears (and very few threats). If you put Devolve in a control list you will be making your matchups weaker vs one deck or another.
This is tech against a kind of deck that has never dominated the meta. This card is pretty bad any time the opponent has a minion whose cost is mostly tied to a battlecry, and there are a lot of situations where this isn't what you want to draw. My guess is that it rarely sees play.
it is going to keep me very weary of overextending on the board, while the shaman can happily build his huge board like he always does. A very strong card, that probably is going to have a huge impact on the game. I dont like it.
People compare this to Mass Dispell (actually an totally overcosted card) or aoe-polymorph, but this card isn't.
"yeah, but it silences the board", crap. It does weaken the board and shuffles the effect around, but you don't destroy a single minion with it. "b-but you can aoe-boardclear after it". Wonderful, a 2 card boardclear that doesn't even guarantee a board clear... you don't even know what you get. If you change the 2/3 Defender of Argus into a 2/4 Imp Gang Boss, it's not positive value. "this destroys n'zoth deck" - Yes, it will affect N'zoth, but then in Wild. Might be a buff there, but will not change much. A Midrange-Shaman normally should be already dead before you play N'zoth. And N'zoth in Standard *pffff*
If you want a 2 card boardclear, then use Elemental Destruction and Lava Shock.
And there's a big difference between a 1 mana Evolve and a 2 mana devolve. I can't see this card in anything that isn't a fun deck.
This would have been a perfect card to slap onto a neutral legendary minion with severe stats (like a 4-mana 2/2 or something). But, alas, Shaman's getting all the fun stuff...

I already can tell this card is going to irritate the hell out of me.
I'm here to kick ass and play cards, and I'm all out of ass.
Really hope it sucks, I don't want to play against this card...
Everybody needs to run at least one 9 drop in their Decks

i imagine this will be a lot like yogg where the rng is through the roof but the outcome will end up advantageous enough that it will see play.
extremely good card, wrecks N zoth things etc.

It's not as good as most people are thinking it is. Can be good but ain't broken OP that's for sure.
