I can see this being played in dragon priest, they run buffs they run minions with a great health pull and they run brann, their great weakness is lack of boardclears and lack of draw and i think this expansion with give them what they need, i predict dragon priest to become a high end t2 or a r1 deck next season
Ben brode just indicated that the battle cry will work if it had 6 health itself. So the whole buff your hand mechanic could make this a 6/6 when you play it.
Would be good in that deck if true.
Hmm, that's really odd, since battlecries trigger before the minion reaches the board. The other day i playedBarnes that spawned Rumbling Elemental and the battlecry of Rumbling Elemental triggered because Barnes got on the board after the Elemental was spawned.
That makes no sense either way and doesn't suggest anyway over another.
For instance if Battlecry happens before the card is summoned:
- Barnes battlecry triggers and he creates a token.
- Rumbling Elemental is summoned and nothing further happens since his ability is static and require him to be in play for when Barnes battlecry triggers.
- Barnes is summoned
Or maybe I don't understand "the stack" in Hearthstone.
The reason is simple: The "after Play" phase Comes after the battlecry phase. So when the "after Play" phase is checked whether something is to happen, rumbling elemental is already on board and Triggers, because Barnes is played.
Btw if you can combo him with hand buffs I see a different problem.
I was trying to make a midrange pally list and realized that Standard midrange pally never had problems when it came to running out of cards or running out of good 6+ drops. Even though you are gonna make room for Fight Promoter your are not gonna cut stuff like Tirion, Sylvanas, N'Zoth or happy Rag. This makes the list even greedier than it already is. Then add to the fact that the goons don't contest the board well but are there to reward you in the later turns where you already have strong plays.
I'm not convinced but I'm definitely gonna give it a shot.
Given how simple Hearthstone is supposed to be, the rules are very non-intuitive to me. Or maybe I'm just MtG brainwashed.
It would help a lot if there was an actual rulebook. It's difficult to have a rule discussion when the rules of the game are "whatever Blizzard programs them to be".

This card would need 2 handbuffs (not counting stronger buffs cuz they're all random) in order to trigger its effect by itself, so you'd have to play 2 of these to decrease chances of it being dead by turn 6.. not very reliable imo.

I disagree, you don't need those two buffs to land on it. You just need something with 6 health, whether that is this card or another, and you get card draw.
That it can trigger itself makes the card better, at least in a grimestreet deck. In any other deck, I'm not so sure it works. Though Priest might be able to make use of it. Plenty of minions have six or more health and you have a few ways to buff their health if they don't.
This is great combined with jade golems (once you've played 5 golems, you can just play this alongside any cheap golem generator)
This is good combined with hand-buffing it. (+2/+2 and it triggers itself)
This is decent in priest, with its 6 health natural minions it will be playing anyway and can heal if they're no longer at 6 health (Twilight Guardian, Priest of the Feast, Drakonid Operative, or buff an existing minion with Power Word: Shield or Kabal Talonpriest)
How is Ancient of Lore 2.0 bad? There's so many ways to trigger it. Yeah if you topdeck it and your hand is empty it's bad, but the decks that want to play a big body that draws cards will tend to be more controlling decks that will be working to keep their hand full of options. This both works well with those decks, and helps those decks continue accomplish that.
its great in grimy goons deck because the way battlecrys work if the fight promoter itself has 6 health it will draw 2 cards

Oh? Didn't you know? Yogg-Saron, Hope's End never dies, not even when he's moved to wild due to his new cult member and my newest favorite card Toki, Time Tinker!
With all the pirates around, how can you possibly expect to recover enought to trigger this battlecry? And at that point, you usually need taunt and heal, not card-draw...

Another possible combo is Kun the Forgotten King to refresh mana and then play this. Could see play in ramp druid maybe as a one off.
Oh ok. Thanks Horkinger.

I just have trouble seeing this get play in a world where The Curator can't get any run.
Galavant Animation
basically 6 mana 6/6 pre-nerf ancient of lore in buff decks, especially in the new buff paladin deck. 10/10 busted card.
One copy is a must and I'll even put in second copy if it is almost always consistent.
This is the decklist I came up with
This is gonna be fantastic with the Grimy Goons classes and their buffs.

This card is amazing in my purify priest. No sarcasm.
I would like to know too without crafting a deck and waiting to find out

Too bad the Grimey Goons decks are not viable.
