Seems like a good anti-aggro or anti-zoo card. Not amazing in arena, because, even though it's a board clear, two damage isn't a crazy amount like flame strike (also, it's a rare). I think it'll find a home in constructed in Reno mage or value mage, depending on the meta.
Is this card good enough to actually put in your deck? 2 damage is a really poor breakpoint that clears almost nothing in the current (or likely future) meta. So immediately you want to look at giving a spell damage boost and then it kills your spell damage minion.
I actually don't think this card is good. I really want more AOE for Mage but this is a poor mechanic for Mage. And why is it 3 mana and not 2? The trade off is highly significant and this played on turn 3 doesn't clear any current board (Shaman laughs at 2 damage, Zoo laughs at 2 damage, etc..) and is thus a HORRIBLE turn 3 play.
Really? A lot of people seem to think too highly of this card based on the votes. Mage has a lot of high quality board clears and this one is terrible given that it also damages your board. I would much rather run Arcane Explosion with spell damage minions. I think that Blizzard designed this card in this way on purpose. Firstly, it isn't runnable by Tempo Mage, the most popular archetype for Mage atm, and second it adds a relatively bad spell to the pool of mage spells given the myriad of effects that generate random mage spells this would make all of them slightly worse. So I can understand why it was printed, but not why people vote it so highly.
For all the times I've held onto my Consecration and Demonwrath against Shaman, I can't help but have hope for this card.
On the other hand, I don't really want to be nuking my own Cult Sorcerers and Sorcerer's Apprentices. I suppose we'll have to see how it plays in practice, and what sort of deck it would work best in.
It's nice, but, I find 2 damage board clears of limited use. I guess you can at least ping as mage though. But, if you are facing a Tunnel Trogg, and a Totem Golem this card looks pretty weak. But, what are the odds you'll ever encounter that situation?
This card is insane. I like Priest, but Mage seems to always be getting the better control tools. I'm going to make a fatigue Mage deck (no Reno) if this trend continues.
Fair und good card :) Will see play if the meta fits.
I like how they add many tech choices against aggro. This will increase a shifting meta. All play aggro? You tech against it. No aggro? No need for tech and room for other decks ;)

Nice one, I've been awaiting so long for a good early-mid game AOE for Mage!

I will bet money one of the next potions will be a "you have +1 spell damage this turn" for 1 or 2 mana.
